Senior Pastor’s Message
The month of February is what I like to call the “Love Month”. Yes, it is because
of Valentine’s Day. I remember making Valentine’s cards for everyone in my
class and making sure I had a special one for my girlfriend at the time, even in 1st
Grade. At that age, I had no idea what love really was because I also loved pizza.
Now, that I am older, at the age of 40, I have a deeper understanding about what love
means. Especially, the Agape Love that God talks about through Jesus Christ. Agape Love is
unconditional love. It is kind of like the love a parent has for his or her child. No matter what
the child does, the parent will always love the child. There is no condition that would make
the parent love the child any less. This is the kind of love that God has for us and the measure
of that love was expressed through giving his only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross as the
ultimate sacrifice for our sins. This love that God has for us all calls us to respond. How do
you respond to the love of God. Do you love God with all your heart, mind, soul, & strength?
Do you love your neighbors as much as you love yourself? I am challenging us all this month
to love our neighbors by giving a dollar for each this month, which is 29 days because of Leap
Year, to the CRO (Community Relief Organization) of Mt. Holly. Take a Leap of Faith by
responding to God’s love for you by give to a neighbor in need so that they too can know this
unconditional love of Jesus Christ.
May God continue to bless you so that you can be a blessing and may God continue to
bless this church so that we can be a blessing to theirs in this Community of Mt. Holly.
In Christ,
Pastor Mike Carr

money for CRO. Please support the families in Mt. Holly who need food.

lunch from the menu and finalize our plans for the year. A big thank you goes to Karen Hefner for leading this
group for the past three years.

We have established a special fund at Charlie's Drug
Store, which is called now Moose's Pharmacy. This
fund is to help people who can not afford to pay for
their medicine. If you would like to give to this fund,
please go to Moose's Pharmacy and tell them you
want to give to the Gene Painter Fund. It is named
after a former pharmacist and church member who
helped so many people like this over the years. If you
have any questions, please that the church know.

Friends, let me take you on a Journey with our
Backpack Ministry. At 10:30 a.m., the 3rd Wednesday of
every month during the school year, I go to the
warehouse at 514 Linwood Road and help volunteers
load my car with “pounds” of food (fills up my
husband’s Honda Pilot). Arriving back at Church around
11:30, I cautiously back up to the outside kitchen door,
where the Pastor, Johnny Painter, Sharon Willis, Bobby
Black and John Robinson are awaiting to help unload,
while laughing ‘cause I can’t seem to use the new “back
up” mirror feature. The food then is carried to the
Cornerstone Room, where my dear friend, Jackie Farmer,
begins the inventory to see if we have the
correct amounts for our 22 children at Ida Rankin that
month. The next Monday, Jackie and I meet to pack the
bags for the week. Then on Wednesday, my
partner, Suzie Washam, and her son, Jake, load them into
her vehicle to be delivered the next morning, Thursday.
The School Counselor, Ms. Toure, distributes the bags to
the classrooms where “our special children” are. I wish I
could see the final walk of this journey, watching the
children carry home white plastic bags filled with milk,
juices, vegetables, fruits, cereals and snacks. May not
seem like much to us, but for families that are “stressed
out”, we hope 20 – 29 items of food each weekend helps.
GREAT THANKS to those of you who have made a
commitment to this ministry. The cost each month is
between $700 - $800. Your time of generous giving runs
during the school year’s calendar, August to June, not the
Church’s budget calendar year. I truly hope you have
experienced awesome love and joy while on this journey
with me! Gratefully, Nancy Payne, Jackie Farmer, Suzie
Washam, Jake, volunteer “unloaders”, Jesus (and P.S.
the youth for carrying out all our boxes for recycle).
