MILFORD FAIR RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. No entry fee for any exhibit.
2. All exhibitors must be residents of South Marysburgh or students of Athol-South Marysburgh Public
School.
3. Prizes will be distributed on or before November 11th.
4. All exhibits must be property of township residents and displayed at your own risk.
5. Exhibits may be brought in between 6 to 9pm Friday or 8 to 10am Saturday. All exhibits MUST be
in place by 10:00 a.m. SATURDAY. Judging starts at once and ONLY Officials are to remain during
judging.
6. EXHIBITS MUST STAY IN PLACE UNTIL 4:30 P.M. SATURDAY.
7. In case of bad weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, this Society binds itself to pay that
percentage of prize money as is consistent with the receipts.
8. Anyone not understanding how prizes are awarded is strongly advised to enquire of the President
or any other official before exhibits are removed.
9. Entry tags must be securely tied or pinned to exhibits before entering them in the Fair. Print
clearly, the CLASS and NUMBER of class (as they appear on the prize list) and your NAME and
PHONE NUMBER.
10. Please take special care to properly fill out entry forms.
11. One entry allowed in each division of any class.
12. Exhibitors may enter only one age category in each section.
13. EXHIBITS SHALL NOT HAVE BEEN SHOWN AT PREVIOUS MILFORD FAIRS.
Suggestions to Exhibitors
READ YOUR PRIZE LIST very carefully and exhibit what is called for in each class.
BE ON TIME and have your exhibits ready so that we may follow our program.
GRAIN: Take a gallon of threshed grain & and spread out on a table. Look it over carefully,
removing all green, broken or diseased kernels, chaff and weed seeds. Show only largest plumpest
grain.
POTATOES: Select the proper number. See that they are the same size, shape and typical of the
variety, or medium size and free from scab, bruises and diseases of any kind.
CORN: Select the proper number of ears. See that they are uniform
in size and length of kernels, straight and well filled at tip and butt. Remove husk.
TURNIPS: Select required number of smooth, medium sized roots. Trim
off tops and roots.
BEETS: Select required number of smooth, medium sized beets,
2 1/2 inches in diameter, as dark as possible. Cut off tops.
ONIONS: Select good sized onions with thin necks. DO NOT PEEL.
CARROTS: Should be uniform in size and shape, free of sunburn, not
too large but true to type of variety. Cut off tops.
PARSNIPS: Uniform size, smooth, straight. Cut off tops.
