The mission ofthe Kappa Delta Foundationis to secure funds for the educational, leadership and charitable purposes of Kappa Delta Sorority.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to our sister and immediate past Foundation Chairman, Bonnie Purvis Warren. Bonnie’s passion for KD and her inspired leadership carved a path that will lead to continued successes in support of the Kappa Delta Foundation mission.
Your investment in KD through the foundation epitomizes your commitment to our current and future sisters and is a true act of support and friendship — yes, one of the sweetest gis life can bring.
As sisters and as friends, most importantly, we must continue to support one another.
In our KD,

will not only shape the future of the
sorority, they will shape the future of
the world when it comes to the
important issuesof our time.
To have a friend to love is to have one of the sweetest gis life can bring. When sisters talk about their KD friendships, they talk about support.
The Kappa Delta Foundation supports our sisterhood one woman at a time. Through your generous gis, the foundation supports our sisterhood by:
• Building strong, condent chapter, campus and community leaders through customized local and national leadership training;
• Helping students pursue their education through undergraduate and graduate scholarships;
• Preparing members for successful careers by providing opportunities for professional development;
• Promoting philanthropy at the local and national levels.
As you review this report and celebrate what we have achieved together, we must look ahead and anticipate the evolving needs of our sisterhood. We must understand and address the challenges our newest members face, equip them with what they need and prepare them for success in college and beyond graduation.

“I have grown as a condent leader and a condent woman because of Kappa Delta.”sarah michaelbeta rho-san diego state
The Sara and Melissa Beta Rho Memorial Scholarship was established in 2016 by alumnae, collegians, parents and friends of Sara Stelzer and Melissa Kennon, two Beta Rho-San Diego State sisters who passed to Chapter Eternal in fall 2014.
Sara and Melissa are remembered by their Beta Rho sisters for their high academic standards, supportive nature and unwavering dedication to the Open Motto, ‘Let us strive to attain that which is honorable, beautiful, highest’.
This scholarship will be rst awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year. The rst recipient is Sarah Michael, a Beta Rho sister who demonstrates superior academic abilities as well as the similar exceptional qualities of her two beloved KD sisters. Originally from Snohomish, Washington, Sarah is a communications major with a minor in leadership.
“I am motivated to excel because you chose to invest in me through this scholarship ... I am proud to be a part of an organization that promotes true friendship, holds us to the highest standards and encourages us to incorporate the values of Kappa Delta in our lives.”

Kappa Delta must remain relevant, providing education and leadership training that addresses topics faced by today’s collegiate and alumnae members. Together, we actively support programs and initiatives that build condence and inspire action in our Kappa Delta sisters from every chapter.
Bystander intervention, sexual violence prevention, hazing prevention and healthy relationships are important issues facing our college campuses. Kappa Delta has provided a Social Essentials Guide which educates our members on these topics by providing important information and tips that members and advisors can access electronically by computer or cell
phone. Kappa Delta is also a member of the It’s On Us Greek Leadership Council, a forum for fraternities and sororities across the country to share best practices and resources for preventing sexual assault. These programs, as well as the Hazing Hotline, are supported by grants from the foundation.
The Kappa Delta Social Essentials Guide was created to focus collegian attention on optimizing social and personal relationships in college and beyond. Kappa Delta encourages its members to assess the role they play in the lives of others and to feel empowered in addressing issues facing today’s women.
feedback from the social essentials guide post- assessment:
1. Do you feel that the Healthy Relationships workshop was benecial for you?
“I liked being able to discuss this topic openly with my sisters and nd that we had very similar ideas and to know my sisters will always look out for me.”
2. What are your major takeaways from this workshop?
“You will never regret taking a sister out of a bad situation.”
NOTE: Kappa Delta sent surveys before and aer the release of the Social Essentials Guide. 1,355 member responses were received from the pre-assessment, while 290 member responses were received from the post-assessment. The charts depicted below represent members’ responses to whether they ‘strongly agreed’ with each prompt.

“Serving as a leadership development consultant has forever changed my life. Professionally, I developed endless transferable skills in so many areas including leadership, organization and self-reliance, which I will continue to use throughout my career. Personally, I experienced our KD sisterhood across the country and I am so thankful for those relationships.” kate shade, eta phi-boston, ldc 2016/2017
More than 800 alumnae and collegians from across the country attended the 62nd Biennial National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. The KD Foundation provided funding for three general sessions, each focusing on building personal and professional success: The KD Entrepreneur Panel, Embracing Everyday Diversity and Empowering the Female Spirit. Additionally, the foundation funded breakout sessions focused on building condence, professional development, nancial responsibility and education on sexual assault awareness and hazing prevention.
“I loved every break out session. It was fascinating to learn about various skills and concepts applicable to our college years. The motivational speakers were inspiring with such strong messages.”2017 national convention evaluation survey, anonymous response
Members of the National Headquarters sta, leadership development consultants provide guidance to Kappa Deltas across the country by aiding in their leadership development, social and academic success,
philanthropic eorts and member well-being to ensure an experience that benets our sisters both personally and professionally. In 2016/2017, 17 consultants visited 164 chapters.
The foundation provides funding for training to help local advisors develop skills that equip them to eectively manage chapter challenges and mentor collegians. Topics covered include conict resolution,
mental health and wellness, sexual assault, communication and presentation skills — skills that transfer to their own personal development and professional success.
The foundation’s archives displays, located at National Headquarters, preserve artifacts and create awareness of the leadership, educational and charitable initiatives of
Kappa Delta throughout our 120-year history. Displays feature a timeline of foundation programs and initiatives and artifacts from our national philanthropies.

alumnae chapters, accepting multiple leadership roles in each group. Today, she is an active member of the Coachella Valley, California, Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter as well as the Coachella Valley Alumnae Panhellenic Association, where she enjoys working on the scholarship committee.
When asked about winning Kappa Delta’s Order of the Pearl award for her service in the community, Pat noted, “It was such a wonderful honor. I am proud to wear my Order of the Pearl pendant and the award is always in my heart.”
Because Kappa Delta is so close to her heart, Pat has supported the
Kappa Delta Foundation through annual gis. She also decided to make a gi to the foundation in her will when she updated her estate plans.
“There is a joy in giving and helping others,” Pat explained.“My gis to the foundation are a way to express my gratitude for all the wonderful opportunities I’ve experienced and continue to enjoy through Kappa Delta. The gi in my will helps me extend that support into the future.”
“I really believe in Kappa Delta, and I think giving back is the right thing to do,” Pat continued. “This is my way to strive for that which is honorable, beautiful and highest.”
Foundation committee members (listed below in alphabetical order) support the board by serving on various committees, including undergraduate and graduate scholarship awards, Corre Anding Stegall Collegiate Leadership awards, KiDs grants, Condence U grants and UIFI.

Kappa Delta Foundation donors are recognized with prestigious giving societies, based on cumulative giving.
nautilus society: $1,000-$4,999
white rose society: $5,000-$9,999
pearl society: $10,000-$24,999
emerald society: $25,000-$49,999
diamond society: $50,000-$99,999
aot society: $100,000-$499,999
founders society: $500,000 or more
A member who has given $5,000 or more cumulatively throughout her lifetime is considered a major donor.
The ideals of Kappa Delta inspired a deep and sincere devotion within Dorothea Cavin, which she carried throughout her lifetime. A charter member of Alpha Psi-Drury, Dorothea’s devotion ran so deeply that her nal gi when she passed to Chapter Eternal in 1978 was to bequeath $40,000 for philanthropic use in support of the ideals of Kappa Delta. It was this gi that established the Kappa Delta Foundation.
Members of this society choose to honor their lifelong devotion to Kappa Delta with a gi to the foundation through their will or estate plans and have notied the foundation of their intent. It is our privilege to count these donors as members of the Dorothea Cavin Society.
The Kappa Delta Foundation sta is available to discuss options as you explore choices to benet Kappa Delta and your estate needs. Below are some possibilities:
• Bequest in your will or living trust• Charitable remainder trusts• Charitable lead trusts• Endowment funds• Retirement plan assets• Life insurance policies
Collegians who support the foundation with an annual contribution are members of the Golden Circle Society. By inviting members to start giving while they are in college, we hope to promote a lifelong habit of giving to the foundation.
If you are considering making the Kappa Delta Foundation a part of your legacy, reference the following wording to take to your attorney:
Your planned gi can be a signicant addition to Kappa Delta’s long-term nancial strength and the foundation’s ability to meet the future growth and needs of Kappa Delta. Contact Sara Cullins, director of development, at [email protected] or 901-746-3644 for more information about how you can make a gi to the Kappa Delta Foundation.
Note: The names of major donors and Cavin Society members are included on the donor walls located at Kappa Delta National Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, and in various Kappa Delta communications, such as The Angelos. As with any donation to Kappa Delta, the choice to remain anonymous is yours.
