LHC NC status + cryomagnet coordination (Role to be officialised ?)
MB, SSS and IC NCR’s status in LHC
After last interconnection’s closure there were still many open NCR’s:
• MB: 215
• SSS: 438
• IC: 17
The aim of this job is to point out the REAL NCR’s that shall be treated during next shutdown, and to CLOSE all solved NCR’s.

MB, SSS and IC NCR’s status in LHCAfter a BIG work of sorting and treating, the NCR’s still open are as follows:
• MB: 63 (152 solved)• SSS: 55 (383 solved)• IC: 4 (13 solved)
All the open ones were addressed to concerned colleagues.Most of them are in progress, BUT:69 (!) need to be closed by CRG. At least 4 reminders were sent (the 1st one on July 14th….), no reaction at all!
ELQA team (Richard Mompo and Giorgio D’angelo) and ICQA team (Christian Scheuerlein) reacted very fast, despite the big pressure they have to perform electrical tests in the tunnel.

During Shutdown 2009 ICIT :
• inspected 55 magnets on surface;
• inspected 58 interconnections before assembly works;
• big amount of magnets in all sectors were under endoscopy investigations, ie. 2425 meters of beam line in sector 6-7 were inspected;
• 166 US tests were done in four sectors (3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7);
As a result of these inspections 363 non-conformities were opened:

CRYOSTAT (Q1,Q2A,Q2B,Q3,D1)
Triplet Cryostat Particularities
• Based on, and as far as possible, using LHC Arc Cryostat Components , tooling and methods
• The cryostat body is well advanced, interface details will be adjusted to suit the interconnects etc.
• Identical cryostat length and cross-section for all 4 quadrupoles, and the D1• Shorter cryostat components for the CP• Some similarities concerning the envelope thermal insulation of the QDSX• The MS tooling set will be upgraded (preserving its original function) to be able
to cryostat Q1 Q2A Q2B Q3 CP and D1. To be reinstalled in SMI2 after modification
• Some part of the CNRS dipole tooling may be incorporated eg: the electric winch•

Motivation and Objectives fora cryo-module prototype
Motivation: Construction of a prototype cryomodule as a major milestone in support to the TDR and project proposal (including costing) in 2012.
Objectives:- Validate (and eventually improve) the design (thermal and thermo-
mechanics) and construction features;
- Demonstrate the construction capability on a full-scale machine cryomodule housing β=1 cavities and SC quadrupoles;
- Enable RF testing (cavities, couplers, tuners…) on a multi-cavity assembly in their real operating environment;
- Validate cryogenic cooling and acquire experience in operation;
- Learning of the critical assembly phases, in particular the preparation of a long string of cavities in clean room;
October 2009
French contribution (Accord Technique No2, Protocole K1597/DG)
In support to the SPL study:
Participate to the developpement and construction of the prototype cryo-module β=1.
• CNRS/IN2P3:– Participate to the detailed design and integration of the cryostat
– Supply of cryostat components for the cryo-module prototype.
• CEA:– Design and fabrication of two helium vessels for the beta=1 cavities
– Design and supply of the assembly tooling for the cryo-module prototype
Funding and resources (2009-2012)
• French contribution (CEA/CNRS):– M = 430 kCHF (267 kEuro)– P = ~7 FTE.year (3.5 cat.2, 3.5 cat.3)
• CERN part (Total-French contribution):– M = 870 kCHF (including 1.25FTE.year EN design jobs)– P = 9.5 FTE.year 4 FTE.year (cat.2); 5.5 FTE.year (cat.3)
missing resources still to be identified
