About 100 works will be selected for the show by the staff of the Museum in three stages because of the difficulties involved in assembling and handling a large number of paintings. Photographs of all works submit- ted will first be reviewed in New York. On the basis of that study, a number of artists will be asked to submit their paintings to regional centers in various parts of the country. Entries chosen in the secondary selection will be sent to New York where final selection will be made. Only work done since January 1, 1958 is eligible and all entries must be for sale. We have Inserted a previously unannounced exhibition in our November

program, Fernand L^ger, 22 paintings and drawings from the Museum

Collections, which will be on view from Wednesday, November 16 through

December k.

This is the first of a series of small shows of Important material

drawn entirely from the Collections, which we plan to present in coming

months. Much of it usually cannot be exhibited because of our limited

gallery space*
