Artists who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States are
invited to submit entries for Recent Paintings USA; The Figure, an exhibition
to be held in the f*ftting of 1962 at the Museum of Modern Art under the aus
pices of its Junior Council.
About 100 works will be selected for the show by the staff of the
Museum in three stages because of the difficulties involved in assembling
and handling a large number of paintings. Photographs of all works submit
ted will first be reviewed in New York. On the basis of that study, a number
of artists will be asked to submit their paintings to regional centers in
various parts of the country. Entries chosen in the secondary selection
will be sent to New York where final selection will be made.
Only work done since January 1, 1958 is eligible and all entries must
be for sale. All entries will be returned prepaid. Entries which are not
accepted will be returned after each selection stage.
Official entry cards must be postmarked no later than March 6, 1961,
They may be obtained from the Junior Council Painting Exhibition, The Museum
of Modern Art, 21 West 53 Street, New York 19.
This will be the fourth exhibition organized by the Junior Council.
Like the previous shows, Young American priptmakers, Recent Drawings USA
and Recent Sculpture USA, the exhibition will be offered to museums in other
cities following the New York showing.

program, Fernand L^ger, 22 paintings and drawings from the Museum
Collections, which will be on view from Wednesday, November 16 through
December k.
This is the first of a series of small shows of Important material
drawn entirely from the Collections, which we plan to present in coming
months. Much of it usually cannot be exhibited because of our limited
gallery space*
