About MIoDThe Myanmar Institute of Directors (MIoD) provides the Myanmar market with thought leadership in corporate governance as well as professional corporate governance and director education. MIoD aims to advance board professionalism, promote business ethics and transparency, create networks between corporate leaders and stakeholders, and boost investor confidence in Myanmar’s private sector. MIoD was launched in March 2018 and it is governed by a board of directors comprising both public and private sector representatives.

MIoD was formed with support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a sister organization of the World Bank and a member of the World Bank Group, and the governments of Australia and the United Kingdom.

What Membership categories are available?

Certified Member

400,000 • Certified members can attend one Breakfast Series per year for free;

• Voting Rights for MIoD Board Elections;• Can attend MIoD annual conference and other public events

on a priority basis;• Will be nominated by MIoD to boards if requested by

companies, subject to the fit between professional qualifications and requirements for potential directors;

• Discounts for MIoD trainings (5% for 1.5 days & below programmes, 10% for 2 days & up programmes);

Member 250,000 • Voting Rights for MIoD Board Elections• Can attend MIoD annual conference and other public events

on a priority basis;• Discounts for other MIoD trainings courses (5% for 1.5 days

& below programmes, 10% for 2 days & up programmes)

There are two categories of membership available:

Certified MemberThe category of Certified Member is open by application to persons who:• Completed the MIoD Director Certification Course and passed the examination;• Are currently serving as directors or have at least 5 years’ experience senior executives,

academics and professional consultants.

MemberThe category of Member is open by application to person who:• Attended at least one of MIoD’s training courses before joining or will attend at least one of

MIoD training courses within 12 months after joining the MIoD;• Are currently working as directors, senior executives, academics and professional consultants.
