Shavuot or Pentecost

Shavuot is known to believers as Pentecost, which is Greek for the fiftieth day. For believers,Pentecost marks the fiftieth day from the second of Passover . Jews count 49 days from Passover toShavuot, in anticipation of receiving the Torah. This is because every holiday is not only acommemoration, but also a deliberate reliving of the spiritual event. For that reason, Jews arerequired to feel that on Shavuot they are receiving the Torah. Orthodox Jews study Torahthroughout the night, sometimes even until sunrise, as a way of expressing gratitude for the gift ofthe Set apart writings.

Shavuot is one of the three Pilgrimage Festivals, which means that Jews from all parts of Judea usedto journey to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem to make sacrifices. Now, between the small hours of themorning and the dawn of a new day, Orthodox Jews go on foot to the Western Wall, arriving in timefor the early morning prayers. Thus the Western Wall late on Shavuot night is inundated withhundreds if not thousands of people from all walks of life, all who have come to experience theunique holiness of the place.

On Shavuot the Book of Ruth is read in synagogues, and is said to have many connections to the

holidaymost overtly, the harvest motif that accompanies a spring festival. But the Book of Ruth isalso about the origins of King David, the Jewish king who it is said will produce the Messiah. KingDavids reign was among the most famous of the Jewish kings, and among the most difficultfor itwas he who first conquered Jerusalem and transformed it into the capital city of the Jews.

The relation of this Crown to Scripture and the Ten Commandment is quiteprofound. The Bible describes the time when Moses received the

Commandments, saying, And Yah said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of

these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel. And he wasthere with Yah forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nordrink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, theten commandments.

The exact words translated as The Ten Commandments are (EserothHaDavarim), which literally means The Ten Words. This, in part, gave riseto the traditional rabbinical teaching that YAH created the universe withTen Words. The value of this phrase yields a large prime number:

That he promise to lead you in ( Rom8:14)and guide us in the way oftruth ( John16:13) The provider of all our needs (Matt 6:32-34) to give usthe Ruach Ha Kodesh whom he will fill us with (1cor12:1-10, (Rom12:-8).He will wash us with the living water of the Word ( Ephs 5:25-26)Husband love your wives, as Mashiah also loved the assembly andgave himself for it, in order to qadosh it and cleanse it with the

washing of the water of the word. His bride (Isa61:10) I greatly rejoice inYahweh my being exults in my Elohim. For he has put garments ofdeliverence on me, He has covered me with the robe of Righteousness, asa bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorn sherselfwith her jewels.
