Dear Nobility and Ladies of Aahmes Shrine,
Let me begin my fi nal column by wishing each and every one of you a very happy and prosperous New Year 2014! I thank you for the wonderful support and generosity you have given us during 2013. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to present to the Pediatric Orthotics and Prosthetics Services (POPS) of the Shriners Hospital for Children, Northern California a total of $9,712 in behalf of the First Lady’s project! Also, you have contributed to the Potentates Building Maintenance Project, $14,747. Again, thank you so very much!
Through your support of our membership program, we have added a strong layer to the foundation of Aahmes membership during 2013, in that we have created or restored well over 100 Nobles (see page 8). I believe that we have indeed, left the Temple in as good as, or better condition as that in which it was received. I ask that same support for Sammy, and that we continue to add to this foundation by actively Recruiting new members, assisting in identifying Nobles for Restoration, and creating an atmosphere that will help us Retain our existing Nobles. We were also able to charter two new clubs during 2013. The Aahmes Amateur Radio Club, and the Aahmes Islander Club. I’m sure these two clubs will help to raise community awareness of Aahmes Shriners and what we do for our Children and our Hospitals!
The Grand Lodge events that took place on November 9th were very good! As that was the “First Annual” pass-in-review for the Grand Master, plans are already in the works for next year. I believe it will be on November 16th. I need to correct one thing I said in my last article, in that Thomas Starr King, was not a Grand Master of Masons in the State of California. He was, however, in his short Masonic Career, a prominent Mason, and he served our Grand Lodge as The Grand Orator.
We had a wonderful Ceremonial on November 15-16, bringing in a class of 26 total. This was followed by the Potentates Ball on Saturday evening. I hope everyone had as great a time as Lady Barbara & I did. A very, very big “Thank You” to our chair, Kay & Peggy Dunn, and their committee. Job well done!
I’m sure that by the time you read this, we will have had a very successful, fi rst ever “Holiday Bazaar”. There were pre-sales as of this writing of more than $3000, so if that’s any indication, it should indeed have been very successful. I’m sure there will be something in the next issue in this regard!
The December Stated Meeting & Elections, have come and gone. I extend my congratulations to those who were elected, as either offi cers, representa-tives, or both. Have a great year, and safe travels!
In closing, I’d just like to say once again, how very proud I am of Aahmes, and the Nobility! It has been a great fi ve years, and I thank you for allowing me to serve you!
Happy New Year 2014!
“73” & YITF,
Jerry

Well Nobles, we are at the start of a new year! First off, we have to thank our retiring Potentate for a great year. There was something to please everyone. I hope you enjoyed it as much as the Illustrious Potentate, Jerry Journeay, did.
We now move forward to 2014 and Sammy. Accord-ing to his calendar, he has another great year planned. The only way to enjoy is to become involved, be active, come on down, and get involved with the Nobles. You won’t be disappointed. They are by far the crème de la crème of human beings.
I look forward to seeing you in 2014. Make a start and come down and become involved.
Yours in Faith, Wayne Green, Recorder

ALCHEMIST CLOWNS
LEGION OF HONOR
By the time you read this, I will be a has been Chief of the Clowns. I will turn over the unit to Rick “Chip Shot” Ahlborn at the fi rst meeting in January.
What a great year this has been. I really did enjoy work-ing with all our members. We did a lot, starting with our OV/Change of Gavel in February. We had a lot of parades throughout the year, did some community service work and had a wonderful car show with the Nomads Car Club. We had a great turn out of volunteers for our pie booths at the Stanislaus County Fair. We could not have pulled it off without Terry and Bert Erlandson, and help from Sam and Donna Comstock in running the whole operation. The old saying “We have people” is so true.
We had a really large group go to Carson City in Oc-tober. What a great parade that is. If you have not gone before, you need to go next year. We had a ball. We had 27 couples and had over 20 clowns in face.
The following Saturday, Nov. 2, we had our Ladies Ap-preciation Dinner at the Fruityard in Modesto. There were 60+ people that had a great time and great food. The service was outstanding. The Hospitality Room was in Nancy and my room. We had a lot of our members come by. What a great time.
Our next function was our annual Christmas party, held at the Rose Avenue Masonic Center in Modesto on Dec 1. We had a luncheon and had a lot of fun with our gift exchange.
The Clowns were able to purchase a Foos Ball machine for the Hospital at a cost of just under $2,000. The children have been really keeping the table going.
Well, it really has been a great year. I want to thank all our clowns and their ladies for making it such a great year.
I look forward to another great year under our new Chief, Rich “Chip Shot” Ahlborn.
If it wasn’t for my wife, Nancy, I could not have done it.
Remember, we clown for our children. ---Bob “Bob-O” Huntley Past Chief 2013

MODESTO SHRINE CLUB
Greetings Nobles and Ladies,
We hosted our annual Past Presidents Night on No-vember 11, 2013. Our kitchen crew prepared a wonder-ful prime rib dinner with all the fi xings. Our other Nobles and ladies set up the dining room for a magnifi cent event. Thank you for your help! It was extremely well attended, and everyone went home satisfi ed. This is our last major shindig as our 2013 Shrine year rapidly comes to a close. However, we have another great year planned out.
(Cont’d on page 21)
Greetings Nobles and Ladies,
Our November golf tournament marked the end of the Aahmes Golf Club season. We will resume our play on February 4, 2014 and on every fi rst Tuesday in the follow-ing months. We have had good turnouts for our events and hope to see more of you golfers next year. One of the Club highlights this year was a hole-in-one by member Don Markert. Let’s have more of them next year.
Wayne Green was elected President for the ensuing year along with Doug Hobson, Vice President; Jim Sloneker, Handicap Chairman; and Orren Rupert, Treasurer. Bill Heath was also reelected as Aahmes Golf Ambassador.
I wish to thank everyone who has supported the Club this past year and hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.
---Bud Brickel, President

Well.....we just had our Thanksgiving Outing at the Be-tabel RV Park in San Juan Baptista...and it was awesome. Dan and Julie did an excellent job of cooking a great Tur-key. The Turkey and the side dishes furnished by attend-ing members made for a great dinner. If you missed this, I’m sorry....it was a great time with great people and great weather.
We have New Offi cers for 2014: President - Robert Bennett Vice President - Robert Dupree Sec/Treas - Dan Johnson
Right now we are getting ready for our annual New Years Party at the Kit Fox RV Park in Patterson. This has always been a fun fi lled outing.
See the next Aahmes News for our 2014 Calendar of Outings. We have a great year planned, so if you have an RV of any type and like to mix with a great group of people, contact any member or myself, as we would love to have you join us. Drive safe,
---Roger Frazer - President
Greetings from the Mother Lode!
Due to a lack of volunteers, our tired old retreads have agreed to accept positions as offi cers of our club for 2014, “one more year”, (thats what we said last year!!). On a bet-ter note, we welcome Steve Hagel to the Board as Director and as Chief Clown Car Driver.
Our clowns are valiantly preparing to brave the weather to ride our clown car in the annual Sonora Christmas Pa-rade. It will be decorated with many lights and is always a big hit with the crowd. We hope it won’t rain on us again!
Our next event will be the annual CRAB FEED on the fi rst of February and we expect a good crowd. Our caterer will again make that great clam chowder and there will be a huge supply of crab, so make plans to attend.
--Bob Snodgrass, Secretary
The car club rounded out another great year with our Christmas lunch held at the Lodi Beer Company in Lodi. We had a large turnout and a good time was had by all.
I enjoyed this year as your President and thank every-one for their support. Bob Huntley is President next year and I am sure he will do a great job. I am looking forward to the car show which will be held in Modesto on May 4th.More to follow in 2014.
Contact Bob at (209) 523-6696 if you are interested in joining the group. We are a small club but we sure have a fun and meet at interesting locations.
Happy Holidays,
---Randy Daniels, President

I would also like to thank Dave for serving the club as our First Vice President, Rocky Gould for serving as Secretary, Jack Helsby for serving as Trea-surer, and to our directors and Aahmes Ambassador. They and their ladies were always there to help me every step of the way. I would also like to thank all of the countless Nobles and ladies who helped at our events and support-ed them with their attendance. You made it a great year! Shrinedom is alive and well in the Central Valley!
