The NECP establishes a strategy
to enable the public safety
community and citizens to
communicate and share
information and can be used:
Leveraging the NECP
Stakeholders can reference the NECP’s vision, priorities, and goals and incorporate them within their own strategic planning efforts, such as the Statewide Communication Interoperability Plan (SCIP) or other agency specific strategic plans
As a guide when developing strategic plans
• Presidential Policy Directive 8• National Preparedness Goal• National Preparedness System• Threat and Hazard Identification
and Risk Assessment (THIRA)
• National Incident Management System
• National Infrastructure Protection Plan
With other DHS preparedness directives, statutes, policies, and doctrines such as:
Improve current capabilities by implementing the NECP
Organizations can assess their current emergency communications capabilities and identify appropriate actions to meet their unique needs and missions by leveraging the success indicators, which describe the desired future state of communications
