Auswest Timbers is supplied
with logs harvested and
sourced from sustainably
managed forests.
East Gippsland mixed species are
supplied to Auswest Timbers by the
Victorian State Government’s
VicForests. In 2007, VicForests was
awarded certification to the
Australian Forestry Standard (AFS)
for all of its forest management
activities including planning,
harvesting, haulage and regeneration.
In Western Australia, the Jarrah and
Karri forests are sustainably
managed by the State Government
agency, the Forest Products
Commission, to ensure all Eucalypt
hardwood forests are conserved for
many years to come. The Forest
Products Commission has imple-
mented an environmental
management system that has been
certified as complying with the
requirements of the international
standard AS/NZS ISO 14001 and in
January 2009, achieved certification
to the AFS.
The Australian Forestry Standard
(AFS) is the leading management
standard of the Australian Forestry
Certification Scheme (AFCS) which
certifies extensive areas of native
forests and plantations across
Australia. The AFS is a world class
forestry standard which is
endorsed by the world’s biggest
assessor of sustainable forest
management, the Programme for
Endorsement of Forest Certification
(PEFC). For more information about
the AFS, please visit
www.forestrystandard.org.au.
To further assure our customers
that all timber supplied from
grower to manufacturer is
sustainably managed, Auswest
Timbers achieved Chain of Custody
certification in April 2009.

Western Australian operationsLocated deep in the south west of Western Australia,
Auswest Timbers’ Pemberton and Deanmill facilities
value adds two of Australia’s most unique eucalypts –
Jarrah and Karri. Jarrah is a spectacular hardwood, in
both looks and strength, its beautiful grain patterns
are coloured with warm, reddish-brown tones.
Its remarkable durability ensures a timeless beauty.
Karri is an extremely durable hardwood, with colours
ranging from light pinks to deep reddish browns.
Victorian operationsAuswest Timbers has a sawmill and a processing centre
located in Eastern Victoria - in the centre of Victoria’s
mixed species eucalypt forests. The Orbost Sawmill
converts sawlogs to green sawn timber for a variety
of applications, including structural and appearance
products, scantling and tile battens. Hardwoods from
the Orbost Sawmill are then sent to the Bairnsdale
Processing Centre for kiln drying in state-of-the-art
facilities. The timber is then processed into tongue and
grooved flooring, decking, fence screening, furniture
timbers and joinery.
Australian Capital Territory operationsThe Fyshwick Processing Centre in the ACT is a highly
specialised and efficient facility for the production
of Radiata Pine roof tiling battens, for use in the
domestic building industry in the Eastern States.
