Lenten and Holy Week Worship
Our worship services during Lent will guide and encour-
age us to grow closer to Christ. Becky will preach each
Sunday. Our Chancel Choir and guest musicians will enrich
our Lenten worship services with their music.
On Palm Sunday, April 5 we will wave our palms high as
we remember the events of Jesus entry into Jerusalem.
Then we will transition to the Passion story told through
words of scripture and music.
On April 9 at 7:00 p.m. we will have our semi-annual
Love Feast. We will eat a simple meal, wash one another’s
feet or hands, and take communion as Jesus instructed us.
Our worship will include meditations on the seven last
statements of Jesus. Plan to join us for Love Feast, a sacred
tradition in the Church of the Brethren.
Our journey through Lent will culminate in a joyous cele-
bration of the resurrection on Easter Sunday, April 12. A
community sunrise service, sponsored by the Mountville
Ministerium will take place in the Mountville Park at 7:00
a.m. This 30 minute service includes music provided by a
brass ensemble, meditations by some of the pastors of
Mountville, and hymns.
At 10:15 our congregation will gather for worship. Becky
Fuchs will preach, our Chancel Choir will sing several an-
thems and a brass ensemble will play as we celebrate the
good news that Christ has risen!
Health Ministry Corner: Coronavirus
Hopefully when the New Vision is distributed, the Coronavirus will be under control. But here
are some important facts you should know from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention).

Bits ‘n Pieces
What a wonderful surprise to receive a bag full of so many birthday wishes on my birthday!!
Love just poured out of that bag!! Thank you so very much for remembering my special day and
for your words of encouragement. - Becky Fuchs
We offer our best wishes and prayers for God’s blessings to Michael Wagner and Pauline
Akabwai who became engaged in a ceremony in Kenya in February. Michael is the son of Don
and Sara Wagner.
Gene and I have been blessed over the years to receive delightful cards and visits on our special
occasions. We want you to know how much we appreciate these cheerful greetings from faithful
friends and from new friends that we haven’t met. Thank you to Dianna and Mary for delivering
them and staying to visit. - Gene & Barbara Swords
“This month you did good. You stepped up to help someone in need by donating boxes of cereal,
cans of soup, vegetables, fruit, loves of bread, and checks and cash to help us purchase meat,
cheese, butter and eggs. This month we saw goodness at its best through your acts of kindness
and generosity. This month you did make the world a better place!” - Danielle Peters, Director,
Columbia Food Bank
Where would be without you? Thank you for yet another out-pouring of support for our friends in
South Sudan. This generous gift of $4,100 for additional 3-stack bunk beds will allow the girls at
Queensland School to finally have a mattress to themselves, after being “3-stacked” with three
girls to a bed for so long. As always, 100% of donations to our Special Projects go to the programs
themselves. - David Radcliff, New Community Project
We are grateful for your gift of $4,100 to the Emergency Disaster Fund in support of Brethren
Disaster Ministries, as we bring hope and healing to people who have survived disasters, both
natural and man-made in the United States and around the world. Thank you for partnering
with us as we share God’s message of love and hope through service and as we walk with disas-
ter survivors on their journey toward recovery. - Roy Winter, Assoc. Exec. Director, Brethren
Disaster Ministries.
On behalf of all students, faculty, and staff, thank you for your partnership with Bethany as we
strive to prepare students to serve in a variety of ways. Mountville COB’s congregational giving
to Bethany Seminary for 2019 calendar year totaled $2,000. - Gail Connerley, Bethany Seminary
New Permanent Custodian
Please welcome Doug Finkbiner back to MCOB as our new permanent custodian. Doug, son
of Lloyd and Bertha Finkbiner, grew up in our congregation and recently joined us to cover for
Mary Rudy. We are grateful for Doug's acceptance of the permanent position upon Mary's
resignation.
Doug is retired from the car dealing industry. He and his wife, Kim, are members of Faith
UCC, Lancaster and have a daughter, son, and three grandchildren. In his free time Doug enjoys
time spent with his family, camping, and playing board games. He's also quite
competitive at corn hole! Doug lives in East Hempfield Township.
Jerry Bushong, Stewards Chair, serves as Doug's supervisor. Please contact
Jerry if you have needs concerning custodial work.

New Holland Band in Worship
On April 26 during our 10:15 worship 45 musicians from the New Holland Band will fill our
sanctuary with inspiring music. Under the direction of Ken Laudermilch, the band will present
their program “Great Hymns of the Faith” which features beautifully scored arrangements of
some of our favorite hymns and sacred music. The band will play pre-service music beginning
at 10:00 a.m. The majority of our worship on this day will be devoted to hearing and learning
about some of the great hymns of faith. This worship experience is provided through the
generosity of Linda Ott Gerber in memory of Richard Ott.
Variety of Topics in April Adult Sunday School
On Palm Sunday, April 5, we will conclude the video series by Biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine
on the Passion of Christ. Easter Sunday will feature Forrest Collier leading a discussion on the
significance of Easter, answering such questions as "What does Easter mean for us?" and
"What does resurrection mean?" The last two Sundays of April will be taught by
guest lecturer Chris Bucher, Professor and Chair of the Religion Department at
Elizabethtown College, who will tell us about the Jesus of the Gospels. Join us
downstairs at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays!
