Brilliant German theologian,Dietrich Bonhoeffer, author of The Cost of Discipleship, challenged Hitler directly and challenged thecompromised German Church leaders. Because Bonhoeffer lived a “cross centered life,” he also died a martyr’sdeath at the age of 39. Randall Terry put it this way in Operation Rescue:

God’s sovereignty is my SANITY!The Sovereignty of God is the invincible, immutable ROCK that we must cling to. The circumstances in ourlives are no accident. You are never the victim of chance. All evil is subject to Him and cannot touch Hischildren unless He permits it. Nothing comes to you that hasn’t already passed through God first. No leaf fallswithout God’s knowledge. No dolphin gives birth without his permission. No wave crashes on the shore apartfrom his calculation. God is sovereignly controlling and sustaining every single molecule in the universe.

God has never been surprised. God knows every tiny detail in the future as if it had already happened. God hasnever been afraid, insecure or lonely. God has never run out of ideas or resources. He is a God of incrediblecreativity, of infinite energy and endless power. God has never learned anything. He knows everything andalways has. He has never made a mistake. God tells us to live with faith in His power and ability, not by thethings that are seen. Living right with God means you'll never need to be afraid of anything ever.

God may not make sense to us. What may seem inexplicable and even painful, is right because we know He isworking everything together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes! Ro 8:28

Some people may have thought, “Why would God put His people in grave danger by leading them to adead end at the Red Sea?” It was not an accident. They didn’t make a wrong turn and ended up in a deadend. God knew they needed a Red Sea experience to learn to trust totally in Him.

The shepherd David didn’t cower in fear as he stood before the mighty giant Goliath. David focused on Godand His power. When a lion or bear took a lamb from the flock, he would go after it and club it to take thelamb from its mouth. If the lion or bear turned on him, he would catch it by the jaw and club it to death.That’s supernatural power! Knowing what God did in the past gave him confidence to stand against thegiant. The eyes that dropped tears at the tomb of Lazarus are fixed upon you. He who is now seated on the throneof heaven, with all authority and power, was once afflicted on earth, that He might know how to sympathizewith you in all your experiences. We desire happiness. He is more interested in our holiness.

God doesn’t love you based on your performance; He loves you based on Christ’s performance. God lovesyou with the same kind of love He has for His Son. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.” Jn 15:9

The love of the Father toward his only-begotten Son is the highest love conceivable. This kind of agapelove- deep, tender, unchanging, is the same love He has for us. That’s worth celebrating! Amen?
