Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM, University President, delivered a message; and with BOT and Architect Roger Tiongson conducted the turn-over rite. Afterwhich, Dr. Ma. Cristeta M. Aduca, Grade School Principal, gave her response. The building was named in honor of Saint Louis (Luigi, Aloysius) Gonzaga, who was born in northern Italy. He was beatified by Pope John Paul V on October 19, 1605 and was canonized by Pope Benedict XIII on December 1, 1726. In 1729, Pope Benedict XIII declared St. Aloysius to be the Patron of Young Students. In 1926, he was named “Patron of all Catholic Youth.” The second floor of the St. Louis Gonzaga Building is awarded to the Grade School Learning Saint Mary’s University also celebrates the “Library and Information Services Month”, “National Book Week’ and “Araw ng Pagbasa” in November 2015 through the collaboration of the Department of Library and Information Science of the School of Education and the University Learning Resource Center which aimed to foster love for books and libraries. The theme of the 2015 National Book Week is “The Filipino Reader in the Era of ASEAN Integration.” The activities were conducted by the officers, members and advisers of the Marian Library and Information Science Student Association on December 2, 2016 at the University Learning Resource Center. Mr. John G. Tayaban, Head of the SMU Publishing House, was invited as the guest speaker of the “Meet and Teach” during the culminating activity on the said date. Newly Hired Librarian SHERYLL D. BARUT Mrs. Sheryll D. Barut is a Graduate of Saint Mary’s University with the degree, Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) batch 2012. She worked as Librarian at Saint Louis School, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya from June 2012 to April 2015. On September 8, 2015, Saint Mary’s

University Preschool and Grade School

Department spearheaded the blessing and

inauguration of their new building, Saint Louis

Gonzaga. The program started with the Eucharistic

Celebration for the solemnity of the nativity of the

Blessed Virgin Mary and followed by the blessing

of Saint Louis Gonzaga building and turn over

ceremony. Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM,

University President, delivered a message; and

with BOT and Architect Roger Tiongson

conducted the turn-over rite. Afterwhich, Dr. Ma.

Cristeta M. Aduca, Grade School Principal, gave

her response.

The building was named in honor of Saint

Louis (Luigi, Aloysius) Gonzaga, who was born in

northern Italy. He was beatified by Pope John Paul

V on October 19, 1605 and was canonized by Pope

Benedict XIII on December 1, 1726. In 1729, Pope

Benedict XIII declared St. Aloysius to be the

Patron of Young Students. In 1926, he was named

“Patron of all Catholic Youth.”

Building is awarded to the Grade School Learning

Saint Mary’s University also celebrates the “Library and Information Services

Month”, “National Book Week’ and “Araw ng Pagbasa” in November 2015 through

the collaboration of the Department of Library and Information Science of the School of Education and the University Learning Resource Center which aimed to

foster love for books and libraries.

The theme of the 2015 National Book Week is “The Filipino Reader in the Era of ASEAN Integration.” The activities were conducted by the officers, members and

advisers of the Marian Library and Information Science Student Association on

December 2, 2016 at the University Learning Resource Center.

Mr. John G. Tayaban, Head of the SMU Publishing House, was invited as the

guest speaker of the “Meet and Teach” during the culminating activity on the said date.

Mrs. Sheryll D. Barut is a Graduate

of Saint Mary’s University with the

degree, Bachelor of Library and

Information Science (BLIS) batch

She worked as Librarian at Saint

Louis School, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya

from June 2012 to April 2015.

Her guiding principles are “Give a

CICM Missionary activities in Region 02 and 2)

The opening of exhibits was held on December

7, 2015 @ 4:00 P.M. It was started with a prayer by Mrs. Anivel L. Soliven after that Mr. David

High School Learning Resource Center Search for

the Bookworm of the Year

Reading is an effective way of learning. The

Florentina Multi-Media Center now Learning

Resource Center has been enriched all through the

years with the vast collection of reading and

reference materials to address the reading and

learning needs of the high school students.

All students are encouraged to use the library

resources extensively. An annual orientation is

conducted to the grade 7 and re-orientation to

grades 8, 9 and 10 students to ensure awareness

among them of the services of the library and

eventually develop in them competence in the use

of library materials.

In recognition of the effort of the students in

the extensive use of the library, the search for

Bookworm of the Year has been conceptualized.

This program aims to promote wider library use,

better leadership culture and effective study habits

for maximum academic excellence.

The languages Department in partnership

with the High School Library shall spearhead the

search. The high school librarian shall collect and

prepare the data on students’ attendance and use of

the library materials. The Languages Faculty

together with the Librarian shall prepare the written

test on library skills and study skills.

The search shall be launched in November to

coincide with the National Book Month

Celebration. The search shall however start on the

first day of school until the last examination day for

the school year.

The Bookworm of the Year Award shall be

given to the winners in the search. There will be

one bookworm per grade level per high school. A

medal shall be awarded during the Recognition

Program (for grades 7, 8 & 9) and Moving up

ceremonies (for grade 10).

The winners shall be determined through the

following rubrics:

Library attendance/use 30%

Borrowing 30%

As part of the modernization of the University Learning Resource Center, the following were acquired: 1) LCD for the Multimedia and Technology Section; 2) 3 IP-based camera for the Teachers’ Center, Main Library Deposit Counter and Elibrary; 3) 6 all-in-one computer units for the Teachers’ Center; 4) 3 wifi units for the Jubilee Library, Main Library and Teachers’ Center; 5) laptops and 6) netbooks. A separate sound system units were installed at the RT 2nd floor, RT 3rd floor and AVR.#

As a Catholic University, it is the tradition of Saint Mary’s University to conduct Block Rosary in the campus. The image of our Lady of the Holy Rosary was brought in the ULRC last October, 2015.

This religious activity was spearheaded by the Center for Christian Formation to promote community prayer which is important to deepen our

Christian faith. The ULRC staff and librarians led the prayer for the Holy Rosary at the Jubilee Library.#

During the 87th Founding Anniversary of Saint Mary’s University, it is a tradition that an Image of Blessed Mother Mary will visit SMU to strengthen the Marian’s faith of administration, faculty, staff, and most especially to students.

The Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, also known as the Virgin of Antipolo, is a 17th-century Roman Catholic wooden image of the Blessed

In celebration of the 81st National

Book Week, November 24-30, 2015, Saint

Mary’s University High School Learning

Resource Center conducted the “Book

Trivia Contest” for the Grade 7 students.

The contest proper was held last

November 19, 2015 at 4:00-5:00 P.M.

Each section is composed of 3 contestants who will compete

for the first round to answer 10 common questions within 20

minutes wherein the answers shall be taken from the books in the

Learning Resource Center. The top 3 groups will compete for the

second and final round.

In the High School Department, the Languages Department in

collaboration with the High School Learning Resource Center

launched the “Search for Florentina Best Readers 2015.” This

contest aimed to hone the reading skills of the students, enrich their

reading adventure and knowledge on different cultures, and

heightens the student’s passion in reading.

Rev. Fr. Gerry L. Bouckaert, CICM, representative of the

sponsoring family, and Mr. Melencio G. Bernardino, Jr., Academic

Assistant, delivered their opening message, Mrs. Aireen B. Santos,

Languages Coordinator, relaunched the Search for Florentina Best

Readers 2015; Ms. Dahl Marie Frances T. Dacles, Best Reader

2006-2007, and Mr. Kevin Manuel M. Lumang, Best Reader

2007-2009. gave their inspirational testimonies, Mr. Danilo Badua

presented the winners for SY 2014-2015, Mr. Lester Scott and Miss

Kristine Uhuad presented the contestants for the Science High

School and Academic High School respectively, Mrs. Sheryll D.

Parents magazine helps moms and dads navigate every aspect of parenthood from pregnancy through the school years.

It is an American mass circulation monthly magazine that features scientific information on child development geared to help parents in raising their children. It was first published in October 1926 and soon was selling 100,000 copies a month.

Its editorial focus is on the daily needs and concerns of mothers with young children. The glossy monthly features information about child health, safety, behavior, discipline and education. There are also stories on women's health, nutrition, pregnancy, marriage, and beauty. It is aimed primarily at women ages 18–35 with young children.

The Journal of Cases on Information Technology

(JCIT) publishes comprehensive, real-life teaching

cases, empirical and applied research-based case

studies, and case studies based on individual,

organizational, and societal experiences related to the

utilization and management of information technology.

Cases published in JCIT deal with a wide variety of

organizations such as businesses, government

organizations, educational institutions, libraries, non-profit organiza-

tions, and so forth. Additionally, cases published in JCIT report not only

successful utilization of IT applications, but also failures and mismanage-

ment of IT resources and applications. As a refereed, international jour-

nal, the JCIT provides effective understanding, solutions, and lessons

learned in the utilization and management of information systems appli-

cations, technology, and resources. The impact of technology in a partic-

ular setting is described, analyzed, and synth esized for the objective of

offering solutions for successful strategies.

The American Journal of Psychology (AJP) was

the first English-language journal devoted primarily

to experimental psychology (though Mind, founded in

1876, published some experimental psychology

earlier). AJP was founded by the Johns Hopkins

University psychologist Granville Stanley Hall in 1887.

The journal has distributed several groundbreaking

papers in psychology. The AJP investigates the science of behavior

and the mind, releasing reports of original research based on experi-

mental psychology, theoretical presentations, combined theoretical

Philosophy Today is an international peer-

reviewed journal that reflects the current questions,

topics and debates of contemporary philosophy, with a

particular focus on continental philosophy. The journal

is especially interested in original work at the

intersection of philosophy, political theory,

comparative literature, and cultural studies. It seeks to provoke discus-

sion and debate among various intellectual traditions, including critical

theory, phenomenology, hermeneutics, feminism, and psychoanaly-

sis. The journal provides space for reviews, as well as short translations

of the works of contemporary philosophical figures origi-

nally published in other languages.

LWS & MWS Christmas Program

The annual joint Christmas party of the Library Working Students and the Marian Working Students was

held in the afternoon of December 19, 2015 at Fr. Tonus Gymnasium. The program started with an invocation

by Mr. Dickmar Pinkihan, MWSO Business Manager, followed by the singing of the Philippine National

Anthem conducted by Mr. Anselmo Anlueco, LWSO Sergeant at Arms.

Miss Wilderlyn Tayaban, Marian Working Student Organization (MWSO) President, gave her opening

remarks followed by the intermission number of selected Marian Working Students. Rev. Fr. Renillo H. Sta.

Ana, CICM, University President, delivered his Christmas message to all working students. After which,

another intermission number was rendered by the selected Library Working Students.

The Highlights of the program were the gift giving and the parlor games. Father Sta. Ana facilitated some of

the parlor games wherein most of them enjoyed. After the health break, the gifts were distributed to each
