red light is a medically acknowledged way of treating wounds with light. now, red light is being used in cosmetics to fight wrinkles. many scientific studies prove that special red light activates the connective tissue structures in the skin and makes skin look fresher and more youthful. If used regularly, it will reduce smaller wrinkles and tighten the skin. demand in studios is on the increase. this gives the chance to turn a traditional tanning salon into a „Beauty Place“.

the aging of skin is a very individual process that begins at different times in different people. medically speaking, the process already begins at the age of 20. moistness decreases significantly in the thirties; the first lines and wrinkles appear, elasticity is lost. this is where the ilIft concePt comes in: the red light activates the connective tissue cells in the skin, which then form collagen, elastin and hyaluronan.

these are all important components in maintaining elasticity. treatment cycles depend on the aim and age of the customer. But the first sessions alone already show a visible, measurable and clearly perceptible result. optimum treatment time is 2 – 3 months at one session a week. In order to maintain the result, 2 – 3 treatments per month are recommended.

since the agreement of the Bundesrat (german upper house) on 18 march 2011, it has been official: the solarium protection act (uv Protection act [uv-schutzverordnung/uvsv]) is coming!

the contents can be summarised in brief:

the limitation of radiation power of all sunbeds to 0.3 watts per square metre trained staff must be present during operating time trained staff must take part in training at institutions that are acknowledged by the authorities clear warning signs must be positioned on sunbeds a logbook must be kept for each sunbed

these regulations obviously cannot be implemented overnight. For this reason, transitional periods are being planned:

15 months for staff 6 months for old sunbeds to be adapted to 0.3 w/m2 2 months for compulsory provision of information

this means that the general conditions as part of the eu-wide harmonisation of the highest radiation strength for both new and old appliances have been set out concretely. 0.3 is the value of the maximum erythema-effective radiation strength of sunbeds (0.3 w/m2).

we adapted our new appliances to these regulations as far back as 2007. and the market response has confirmed it for us: 0.3 is high enough for a good and lasting tan. visitors to uwe studios are very satisfied with their tanning experiences. and this is how it should be with the appliances already on the market. nearly all the uwe sunbeds can be adapted to 0.3! with our promise “guaranteed standardIsed” we have committed ourselves to adapting uwe appliances to every future norm for two years.

electronIc Ballasts are the BraIns of uv lamPs. they guarantee a contInuous Performance for years. the use of dynamIc eBs means the followIng for studIo oPerators:

and all that with the same tanning result!

If you compare conventional ballasts with the intelligent uwe system, the eBs from uwe perform considerably better.

The BackGrounD:

The background here is the theoretical lamp aging curve. The software controls the lamps on the basis of this. here too, however, there is a great difference between theory and practice. In reality, every uV lamp ages differently from the theoretical measurement.

The intelligent eBs from uwe: control is measured on the basis of actual values and is regulated precisely so that the uV value remains constant. The uwe system functions perfectly with nearly all types of lamps and can be adjusted to any required uV performance.
