The Plummer familyThis Anglo-French couple, Marielle and Nicholas Plummer, are passionate about the mountains both for the winter skiing and walking in the summer.

They fell in love with the Tarentaise Valley in the late 80s at which stage they first discovered La Rosière. They were also charmed by the history of the area and in particular of the legend of Hannibal and his 40 elephants – a number of historians

believe that Hannibal crossed the Little St Bernard pass in his attempt to conquer Rome in 218 BC.

The couple launched and built their first chalets in Peisey-Vallandry before building a hotel in Belle Plagne. Their new 4-star hotel project in La Rosière is rooted in sharing, exploring local culture and reconnecting with friends or family, which attracted the Hyatt group to become their partner.

La Rosière, a traditional ski resortWith the construction of its first ski-lift in the early 1950s and the arrival of its first visitors, the resort is perched at an altitude of 1850 m (with the highest point of the resort being at 2641 m). Preferring traditional materials of stone and timber over concrete, La Rosière preserves the beauty of its landscape and offers breathtaking views over the most beautiful panorama of the French Alps.

A brand new experience in the mountains

Explore and rediscover your inner selfLocated in the family ski resort of La Rosière, 20 minutes from Bourg Saint Maurice, the first Hyatt Centric in Europe is opening its doors on the 15th December.

A brand new design concept in France, Hyatt Centric is setting up its base camp in the French Alps and takes its guests on a voyage of discovery of a traditional mountain village in the heart of a still undiscovered resort. Designed for the modern adventurer looking for activities at the heart of the action, the Hyatt Centric brand is positioning itself in new regions for its guests to explore.

Launched in 2015 by Hyatt Hotels Corporation, the Hyatt Centric brand now has 15 hotels worldwide; each hotel is designed according to its location. After Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Waikiki (Hawaii), Miami, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Istanbul, Guatemala City and La Rosière, other openings are already scheduled for Spain as early as December, as well as Peru and Chile in 2018.

Espace San BernardoIn the early 1980s, the French station linked itself with the Italian neighbouring village of La Thuile. This opens a vast ski area of over 3,000 hectares. Straddling the French and Italian borders, the Espace San Bernardo offers skiers from both countries access to 160 kilometers of ski slopes, with long, gentle, sunny slopes on the French side and more challenging slopes in the Aosta valley on the Italian side. In 2018, an additional 10 kilometers of red and black runs will be added on the French side.

The best snowfallJust a few kilometers as the crow flies from Mont-Blanc and the Little Saint-Bernard pass, the resort enjoys its best snowfalls from mid-December through to the end of April, and has the reputation of being one of the snowiest resorts in France. In 2016 it enjoyed 7 cumulative meters of snow in the winter season, and over 10 meters in other years.

Breathtaking viewHyatt Centric La Rosière enjoys one of the best locations to admire the most beautiful panoramas of the Alps, and its breathtaking views of the Tarentaise Valley. A place of contemplation to observe the peaks of the Bellevarde, the Beaufortin and Le Roignais. Tignes lies at the end of a valley that is lit up at night by the twinkling lights of the mountain villages of Sainte-Foy or Villaroger. On winter evenings, the mountain takes on a festive air, its pine trees covered in snow and the lights of the chalets flickering in the sky; an exceptional picture postcard that brings you back to nature.

A truly unique panoramaSouth facing, in an area with the same number of days of sunshine as the famous Côte d’Azur, Hyatt Centric La Rosière is an exceptional location in the mountains.

The sitting rooms are fitted with leather sofas, velvet poufs and made to measure furniture. Modern and connected spaces - with wifi and table lamps incorporating USB ports to charge your devices. To enhance the local feel, large photographs done by Philippe Royer can be found throughout the hotel displaying guides of the valley in action. Additionally, cupboards are hiding original designs recalling the legend of Hannibal.

Luxurious beddingWith attention to detail, the rooms are all fitted with Dorelan’s high-end Italian bedding with an extra level of comfort in the suites with beds being 2.10 meters long and 1.80 meters wide.

Mountain’s cooking & the scent of the Dolce Vita

Head Chef, Paul Junior Lopy, whose career has spanned the United States, Denmark, Germany and Italy, selects the best local products from local artisans to create generous and authentic food for his guests.

The H40 restaurant, the bar-brasserieDirectly accessible from the village and through the hotel, the H40 bar and restaurant has an open plan kitchen for everyone to enjoy the spectacle of the chefs in action. The brasserie has an authentic look with its wall of kegs and barrels, a granite countertop and a central fireplace. A mountain atmosphere nurtured by the quality of the service, and the charm of our team dressed in the style of an “alpine hunter” : beret, braces and checkered shirts.

Our “ à la carte” menu, with its emphasis on noble and organic products, from small producers in the region.

Our signature dishes: “elephants ears”, lobster linguine or the 7 hour slow cooked shoulder of lamb. Keeping to local favourites and in the spirit of sharing, fondue is on the menu, not to mention the occasional gourmandise, a bubbling Mont-d’or cheese straight from the oven in its original wood packaging box.

A link between France and Italy, the pizzas rely on authentic recipes inspired by the great chefs.

Specialist beers, we recommend your discovery of the “Elephant” beer, an acknowledgement of the mascot of the hotel.

With a capacity of 125 seats indoors, the H40 has a panoramic terrace with a further 45 seats, that allows you to come and meet up with family or friends.

Mountain wines

Faithful to its regional culinary heritage, the H40 restaurant and bar offers a wine list developed exclusively from the mountain regions, including a number of wines from the Savoie and Haute-Savoie, and promises the discovery of some unusual wines from further afield, from other areas in France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Chile and Argentina to complete the list.

A must: the Glacier Wine aged in larch barrels in the chilled cellars of the Val d’Anniviers village.

La Tavola, an Italian trattoriaInspired by the neighbouring region of Aosta in Italy, La Tavola revisits the great Italian classical dishes in an elegant and more contemporary decor, adorned with elegant chandeliers made of copper and brass alloys, a high table and copper screens.

With a capacity of up to 80 guests, the restaurant has its round table, the meeting place for mountain guides, instructors and frequent travelers, and reserved occasionally for tastings of wine and other local products.

The Surus barExclusively reserved for guests of the hotel, the bar on the first floor allows you to meet in a sitting room which has a private “club”atmosphere with a fireplace.

À la carte, a selection of teas, coffees and infusions, cocktails and an exclusive selection of rums.

Among the best, the Zacapa, the rum of the Guatemalan revolution straight out of the barrel.

The art of living in the mountains

The chef and his team invite our guests to share in a culinary experience by meeting the best artisans in the region. On the program: tastings of cheeses (goat and Beaufort among others), tours of local farms, collecting herbs and plants from our mountain hillsides, with pride of place for the Genépi.

Summit Spa Revitalising massages

Aimed at muscle recovery, good blood and lymph circulation, the massages seek to heal the sensitive areas of skiers similar to the peaks and troughs of the extremities. For an immediate effect, try the "Ice Treatment, Light Legs" which combines a cold stone massage with a cryogenic wrap, to improve the circulation of the blood.

Body care treatmentsThe "white as snow" treatment nourishes and moisturizes through a combination of scrub and wrap. For the pure experience, combine your treatment with the aroma from scented candles, and the relaxing treatment combining stretches and a linen compress filled with salt and local plants from the mountain. The Signature treatment starts with a massage with hot or cold stones and includes a revitalizing cream "just like the snow".And for the bravest: after your sauna, savor the experience of tipping a bucket of ice cold water over you contrasting the hot and the cold. Once the rope is pulled, 7 liters of cold water pour over your body and instantly reinvigorate the muscles.

The experiences

In collaboration with Massage Me, a high quality massage company established by Anna Beadle, an English masseuse specializing in sports massage who has settled in the Savoie, Summit Spa introduces a menu of massages and care treatments designed for recreational skiers and competitive sportsmen. A menu designed for the maximum relaxation complemented by treatments for adults and children.
