Dear All,

Greetings and Good wishes to all

Apexians of India.

My sincere thanks to Apxn Diptendu, NP,

who has reposed confidence in me in

entrusting the responsibility of editing

this magazine of yours.

While I am not about to disclose my

idiosyncrasies, suffice to say that I am

no exception to the general rule and so,

like always, I am ready to launch one

more issue of ‘The Indian Apexian’ with

fingers crossed ( a practice that traces

its origin to the dawn of the Christian

era).

Respected Senior Apexians and My Dear

Friends. Apex is not only an organization;

Apex is a family, a very big family with the

amalgamation of different cultures, people

and thoughts. Apex is a philosophy of self-

learning and development of the society. “Be

Good and Spread Good to others”. All the

apexians are asset to us. The Seniors always

has remained a beacon of light showing the

right direction enabling us to hold our flag,

high.

I have taken over the charge as your

President in National Convention 2018, held

in Santiniketan in District 1 from Apxn P

Eshwar , now the IPNP and Global Vice-

Chairman. The new National Board is a very

balanced board with the representation of

different districts. The District Governors

doing extremely well in the respective

districts and making the bridge with the

National association. Our IRCC Apxn Usha

Kumar, my sister performing very well for

making the fourth Ideal, happening.

I had inherited the post with a number of

issues. I have decided to resolve all of them

by paying a visit to all the districts as soon as

possible. Mean while I had opened the

communication channel with all. I am a firm

believer that nothing is impossible in this

world to find a solution acceptable to all,

though we think and express differently.

The very first agenda inviting my attention is

Amendment to the Constitution.

Considering, most of the points are unanimously accepted in Dist

Conventions, my personal feeling is that the blend of seniors and

youngsters can bring the best to Apex India. Age is a number, it

should be very clear to all, that without any learning and

experience, no one can serve as a leader in Apex India. Apex is a

platform of building leadership . We can divide the work and

responsibility between green horns and stalwarts. In the first

post convention National Board meeting we have initiated a

discussion on this issue. In the coming national board meeting I

will discuss on this agenda. This year I want to resolve this issue

without carrying over.

The National Theme for the year is ‘DONATE EYE - LIVE FOR

EVER’ and National service project is ‘DONATE BLOOD - SAVE

LIFE’ All the clubs have taken this very seriously and they are

trying their level best to act on this projects.

This year we are trying to register our organization under

Societies Registration Act and also register Apex India logo. We

also need PAN Card in the name of National Association of Apex

Clubs of India for banking operations. It has been decided in our

National Board meeting to use Apex Club of Bally Permanent

address for these purposes and I seek sponsorship to meet all

these expenditures, as it has been also decided in National Board

Meeting not to take any money from the clubs as Prorata, Levy,

Charter fees and any other fees excepting nomination fees.

This year we have nominated Deputy DG, National Director and

National Officials from all districts. We have also nominated

Brand Ambassadors of Apex India from different countries, which

move has been appreciated by one and all. It is my humble

request to you to concentrate in our project activities mainly on

EDUCATION, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT and inter club visits.

I am overwhelmed by your love and affection, wherever I visited.

I repeat I am a believer that there is no issue in world which

cannot be resolved. Have faith in me and my National Board.

Lets make our association more vibrant with full of fragrance of

Service, Fellowship and Citizenship.

Dear Friends, The Clubs which are active continue their

services irrespective of the fact whether

anyone recognises, responds or participates.

They do not expect anything from the District

or National Board. Members who are active,

continue to participate in the discussion over

Social Media like whatsapp, facebook and

contribute by giving suggestions and

exchanging information on their activities. I

find that the Apex India website has some

updates on information about the persons

holding office in the respective Districts and

National Association. However I do not any of

the Office bearers either nominated or elected

communicating either through circulars or

through social media like whatsapp or

facebook or emails about what they plan to do

and what they expect the clubs to do.

Every portfolio has some purpose and each of

the office bearers has responsibility to plan

and achieve. Communication is the most

important part in any service organisation. All

the senior Apexians are still active in their own

spheres and are available for supporting the

office bearers in their obligations towards the

clubs. I request all those who have taken up

any office in the Association either willingly or

by force, to be active and contribute for the

growth of the movement. Everyone is

important. The Club, The DG, The National

Board Members and we need to realise our

responsibility to keep the flag flying high.

On a lighter side, I share a joke on 'who is

important' .All the organs of the body were

having a meeting, trying to decide who was the

one in charge. "I should be in charge," said the

brain, "Because I run all the body's systems,

so without me nothing would happen." "I

should be in charge," said the blood, "Because

I circulate oxygen all over so without me you'd

waste away." "I should be in charge," said the

stomach," Because I process food and give all

of you energy." "I should be in charge," said

the legs, " ;because I carry the body wherever

it needs to go." "I should be in charge," said

the eyes,

"Because I allow the body to see where it

goes." "I should be in charge," said the

rectum, "Because Im responsible for waste

removal." All the other body parts laughed at

the rectum and insulted him, so in a huff, he

shut down tight. Within a few days, the brain

had a terrible headache, the stomach was

bloated, the legs got wobbly, the eyes got

watery, and the blood Was toxic. They all

decided that the rectum should be the boss.

The Moral of the story?

You have guessed it right !!!

WORDS & VERSES

Page 10: The News and Views of Apex India...Apex club of Ludhiana Service at Govt.School,Ludhiana renovation of washrooms , laid tiles and built a new drinking water facility Care for the Dead

What is Eye Donation and How is this helpful? “Netram Pradhanam Servendriyanam”

(Translation: Eyes are the precious gift given to the humans by the Almighty - Lord Krishna to Arjuna (Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta,

Chapter 15, Shloka 8.1)

Eye donation is donating the eyes after a person’s death. Eyes are

very valuable part of a human being, which should not be wasted either by burning or burying the body. Donation of the eyes gives

sight to TWO Corneally blind persons, enabling them to come out of their dark and dreary life into a life full of colors, a life where they

can see and enjoy this beautiful world!

So, Why should my eyes be donated? There is no substitute for human tissue. The transplantation

process depends upon the priceless gift of Cornea donation from one human to the next. The use of artificial tissue for

transplantation has been unsuccessful. We know that we are not going to live permanent here but after our death, let our eyes live

in this world by giving a new life to blind!

Who all can donate their eyes?

Age does not matter while making this precious donation. Person suffering from Diabetics, Hypertension, Systemic disorders like

Asthma and Tuberculosis CAN ALSO donate their eyes. Cataract surgery patient can also be a happy donor. Above all, all Religions

endorse the practice of eye donations and its one great valuable service a person can do in his/her life.

Who all CANNOT donate their eyes?

Eyes will not be collected if death has occured due to the following

diseases. AIDS / Hepatitis B

Septicemia / Sepsis: Viral Infection spread thru bloodstream affecting vital organs

Leukemia: Disease related to Bone Marrow

Rabies: Fatal viral disease, transmitted by the bite of warm-blooded animals like dogs

Cancer with Metastasis to Head and Neck: Transmission of pathogenic microorganisms/cancerous cells thru blood

vessels.

Encephalitis: Inflammation of the brain Hodgkins Lymphoma: Cancerous growth of cells in the

Lymph system of the body.

So, i want to donate the eyes but What is the procedure? Donation can happen in either of these two ways.

1. S/He can walk in to a nearest Eye Bank and PLEDGE their eyes for donation. For this, a pledge form needs to be filled, signed

by a witness (can be your relative/friend) and given back to the eye bank. In the time of that person’s death, his/her

relative/friend, who was a witness for the pledge form or any

other family member/friend who had the knowledge that the person who passed away intended to donate the eyes, should

call the nearest eye bank. One important aspect to be noted here that it is not sufficient if a person pledges for donating

his/her eyes after the death. His/her relatives and friends should be well informed and be well aware to call the nearest eye bank,

for donating the eyes after their death.

2. After death, a relative or a friend of the deceased person can

inform the eye bank and tell them that they wish to donate the eyes of their bereaved folk.

Steps to take care for donation of the eyes

Call the nearest eye bank within SIX HOURS of the death of the person.

Switch off fans & keep AC on, if you have one. Close the eye lids gently and keep a moist cloth over eyes. Raise head with a pillow.

Points worth to be noted

1. Persons of any Age/Sex can donate their eyes

2. Persons who have undergone surgery for Cataract, Glaucoma or using Spectacles can also pledge and donate their eyes.

3. Eyes should be donated preferably within SIX hours after the death.

4. Nobody is charged for making eye donation. The only cost to

encounter is one local telephone call.

5. Face will NOT get disfigured after eye donation. As per the new

procedures, only Cornea portion is removed and hence face disfigurement does not happen.

6. Immediate family members or relatives can donate the eyes of

the deceased even if the deceased had not pledged for eye donation during his/her life time.

7. Eyes can be donated to any eye bank in India but preferably to the nearest eye bank to avoid delays.

8. TWO Corneally blind persons can get sight due to a single person's eye donation.

Science has not yet found a

technique to manufacture

human blood hence can only

be made available from

generous donors. A blood unit

donated by you can save lives

of three human beings. You

never know when you can

save a life of small kid who

has just learnt to walk or a

young life that has zeal to

fulfil his/her dreams like you

and me or a father whom his

children look up. There is no

other Noble cause as Blood

Donation in this world. Human

Body just takes 24 hours to

generate the equivalent

amount of blood which one

donates. Average human body

has around 10 units of blood

out of which one unit is taken

during donation.

Most of the time Blood

requirement exceeds the

supply, why so? The demand

and supply of Human blood is

incomparable, as per the

available facts annual

requirement of blood in India

is 40 million Units and the sad

part is only 4 million units are

available.

The pride and feeling of

donating blood and giving

someone a life back is

unexplainable, then why are we

running out of it.

Looking at our economy and

average age of our country

(somewhere between 24 to 29

Years) the significant difference

in demand and supply makes

me really wondering where is

our youth hiding? Let’s stand

for this noble cause together

and carry a feeling of pride of

being human.

As per the standards a

normal/healthy human being

can donate blood every three

months, which means 4 units in

a year and you can go up to the

age of 60 years, so count how

many units you can donate till

you reach 60, and multiply

those units with 3, that is the

number of lives you can save.

Do it once and you will really realise

that this is the noblest thing you ever

have done and share it with your

network with proud, because believe

me nothing is greater than saving

lives without any expectations, that’s

called the HUMANITY.
