running of California YC's California Cup Match Race Series to be held here October 9, 10, and 11, will be the Aus­tralian built "Endless Summer" (for­merly "Dame Patti") and "Columbia", veteran contender in this series and 1958 winner of Americas Cup.

New owner of "Endless Summer" -the 65'2" LOA yacht designed by War­wick Hood and launched in Sydney, Australia, August 22, 1966 - is George O'Brien of Vancouver, British Colum­bia. Owner of the 69' 7" LOA "Colum­bia" - designed by Olin Stephens, first launched in New York in early 1958, then extensively redesigned by Ste­phens and "rebuilt" in San Diego for her 1967 campaign - is Pat Dougan of Newport Beach.

Chairman of the nationally known series this year will be Tom Kirkpatrick of California YC.

Marina Firm Names New Director

Recently elected to the board of directors of United Marine Industries, Inc., was Roger E. Holmes (photo).

Among Marina del Rey operations of this organization are California Marine Supply and the American Mariners Club which offers members many nautical goods and services at substantial discounts.

Mr. Holmes, a vice-president in Har­old C. Hood and Associates, a public relations firm, has also been associated with Host International, Inc., and with Litton Industries, and holds a degree in journalism from the University of Southern California. From Our Readers California YC recently was host, with

very little room for its guests - but a lot of good neighbors. The scene was the Olympic Classes ·Regatta with a deluge of Solings, Stars, and such ar­riving from West Coast ports into our crowded Marina. Thanks to many help­ful dockmasters and their associates, the job was done.

California YC gives special thanks to Ted Parrot of Pacific Harbor Marina who supplied brand new slips for the entire Soling fleet, and to many others­Tom del Amo, Chuck Bryant, Norm Arsenault, Lucky Heildebrandt, to mention just a few. It all made us proud of our Marina and the fine peo­ple who run it.

Art Exhibit At California YC Samples of art from three galleries

were on view at California YC as part of a recent luncheon program of the YC's Women's Auxiliary.

Collaboration of St-James and Rey Costello ( small photo ) was a part of the exhibit displayed by the Central Artists Co-op Gallery. Other galleries represented were the Todd Gallery of Beverly Hills, and the Gallery of Art From Abroad of Pacific Palisades.

Speaking at the luncheon program was Tana Schloen, a member of the Docent Council for the L.A. County Museum of Art.

Fish was hooked at 3 p.m., about three miles off the east end of Catalina Island, and took 45 minutes to boat.
