HAT

Sometimes you just want a quick instant gratification project that you can finish in one

evening. This hat is just that kind of project, combining simple ribbing with a sand stitch for

the perfect, squishy instant gratification hat! (If you’re pretty fast, you can finish it in 2 hours

or less!).

Named after Nørrebro, the suburb of Copenhagen where I saw (and semi-stalked, for

pictures), a lady rocking a similar- looking hat, this hat is also called “Everyone’s Hat”

because a friend of mine swears that this hat looks great on everyone, including her. It

really is a pretty awesome unisex hat.

NOTES1x1 ribbing: K1, P12x2 ribbing: K2, P2

INSTRUCTIONSCast on 40sts using the smaller needle (US #9 if you are a loose knitter, or US #11 if you are a tight knitter). Place marker and join.

Work 1x1 ribbing (or 2x2 ribbing) for 3-4 inches, switch to larger needles (US #11 or US #13) and start the main body pattern.

Main BodyRound 1: Knit all around Round 2: K1, P1Repeat these two rows until the hat is between 9 and 9.5inches long, ending on Round 2, then start decreases.

Decreases (shape crown)1st decrease round (RS): K2, k2tog, *[k3,

k2tog], rep from * to last stitch, k1. - 32 sts

Next round (WS): Knit to end.

2nd decrease round: K1, k2tog *[k2, k2tog],

rep from * to last stitch, k1. - 24 sts

Next round: Knit to end.

3rd decrease round: *[K1, k2tog], rep from *

to end. - 16 sts

Next round: Knit to end.

4th decrease round: [K2tog] to end. - 8 sts

Next round: Knit to end.

Finishing

Break off yarn.

Thread through 8 stitches.

Pull securely and fasten off.

Optional : Make a huge pompom for the hat.
