the local Oracle has been established since February 2004 and was formed after Jane moved to Kings Hill and realised that there was very little information about local trades. We now distribute 58,500 copies each month and, with the constant increase in new housing in the South East, this figure will be increasing. We like to think that we have gained valuable experience during the 13 years and can assist any size or type of business.

We have made many changes over the years to improve the look and feel of the publication but the business continues to be owned and worked on solely by the two of us. We will take care to advise you on the best option available as it is in our personal interest that the local Oracle works for you long term.

After speaking to our readers and advertisers, we know that the local Oracle is a trusted publication which is often kept by the phone ready to be used by homeowners when they need it.

Through consistent distribution the local Oracle has self generated 80% of its advertisers with the remainder from referral. Over 50% of our advertisers have chosen to commit to 12 months at a time and over 30% of advertisers have been with us over 5 years, and in many cases, 10 years.

We are now introducing reviews for restaurants and can include on the website together with special offers to help promote your services.

Standard A-Z Category adverts have a set layout which applies to all advertisers. Many advertisers only use this size and have found it very successful. All 1/4, 1/2 and full page adverts automatically receive a standard category advert.

Colour A-Z Category adverts allow you to include a logo, colour or a different type of text. Again we have advertisers who have been with us for many years just using this format. eg. Step Up Loft Ladders.

All category advertisers will receive a basic advert on our website. (Upgrade £5pm)

Wording can be changed each month if you wish. For example, you may wish to highlight a special offer at a certain time of year or make an introductory offer to your clients.

LeafletsIf you have a special offer, menu of services or need to get more information out to the public than your advert will hold, then leaflets are a great way to help.

We have our own team of distributers and can target specific areas if that is required.

We offer this service to our advertisers only so you would be required to have a minimum of an A-Z box advert for the month we are distributing for you.

The leaflets are put inside and delivered with the local Oracle.

Leaflets should be no larger than A5 although they may be folded.

Minimum distribution is 500 up to a maximum of 58,500.

We take bookings on a first come first served basis and ensure we don’t deliver leaflets from a similar type of business at the same time.

We charge £30+vat per 1,000 leaflets

where required.

Images should be provided at a minimum of 300dpi (dots per

All standard category adverts will appear in the format stipulated by the local Oracle.

Whilst we will always try to accommodate your required category, we reserve the right to change categories if necessary.

Any changes to adverts must be received by the appropriate cut off date to guarantee changes required.

Whilst the local Oracle takes every care to be accurate in the details published, it takes no responsibility for loss or damage caused by any errors. No adjustment in payment will be made if an error or inaccuracy does not materially affect the advertisement.

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring the descriptions/claims in the advert are fair and accurate and the local Oracle can not be responsible for any inaccuracies.

If advertisers are providing artwork, they must have the relevant permission for its use. Permission must be obtained to use any artwork produced by the local Oracle for other uses.

All completed signed registration forms or writing correspondence will be accepted as confirmation of order.

We reserve the right to withdraw an advert or charge a surcharge if payment has not been received by an agreed date.

When placing multiple adverts of varying sizes, the largest advert will be charged at the first advert rate.

We cannot guarantee that a certain level of response will be received from the advert and therefore no refund will be paid as payments are to cover the cost of printing and distributing the local Oracle.

All advertisers will automatically be included on our website and on our digital on-line editions which will also be posted on social media.

Leaflet distribution is available for current advertisers and an advert is required in the relevant edition where distribution will take place. If you are unable to produce the leaflets in time, you will still be liable for the cost of the advert.

Leaflets should be ready for delivery at least 2 working days prior to the distribution date shown.

Leaflets must be no larger than A5 although they may be folded. Additional pages may be charged at a higher rate and should be confirmed when booking.

A monthly payment scheme is available for twelve month advertising and payments should be made by the relevant cut off date each month as shown on the agreement. This is a yearly contract and a cancellation fee will be applied if an advert is cancelled before the twelve months.

Although every attempt will be made to deliver each issue during the period shown, the local Oracle cannot guarantee all deliveries will take place within this time.

the local Oracle reserves the right to vary the distribution areas without warning.

VAT at 20% should be added to all advertising rates.

As a business or individual who advertises or requests information from the local Oracle, you will be included on our regular email communications. Please tick the ‘opt out’ box on the Registration Form or unsubscribe on the regular emails if you do not wish to be sent marketing information.
