to develop knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations needed for future success. Youth can determine their level of involvement: white, green silver, gold or platinum. This year’s deadline has passed, as it was August 9th, but keep in mind for
next year! We have one teen representative on the 2019-2020 TLC, Leeoria Willis!
4-H TRACTOR SAFETY PROGRAM
The 4-H Tractor Safety Program is designed for youth members aged 14-16 years old (as of Jan 1) who may be operating tractors or equipment or wanting to do so in the future. The course covers farm equipment and
farmstead accident situations including PTO’s, highway safety, animal husbandry and more! If you’re
interested, contact Ashlee at the OSUE Office for registration materials. Cost will be $45 per participant, which will cover Tractor Safety Project Book and the 4-
H activity fee (if not already a member). Registration materials are due by December 31, 2019 by 4:30 PM.
The course will run 8-12 weeks (unless otherwise specified) in the evenings. Day of the week will be
determined. *Must have 5 participants in order to hold program*
OTHER PROGRAM UPDATES
As a new year approaches, you will be seeing changes in the parent code of conduct form that is due with 4-H enrollments. Both parents or guardians will be required to sign. We will be revising this for 2020 so be sure to note changes. Also, the website will be reorganized
this fall to be more “user friendly”. We hope it will help you navigate the site more easily.
3rd ANNUAL SPOOKTACULAR WHITEWOOD
The 3rd Annual Spooktacular Whitewood event will be held Friday, October 25 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Camp Whitewood in Windsor, OH. All ages are welcome! does and what a 4-H year consists of.
She has been a phenomenal help during the fair and
other summer programs. We thank Shania for her
passion and dedication to 4-H and the Trumbull

Junior Fair
Livestock Sale
A huge thank you goes out to our Junior Fair Livestock Sale Committee for their hard work and dedication to the sale and for making sure things run smoothly. They do not receive us much credit as they truly deserve. Thank you on behalf of the Trumbull 4-H Program! The sale would not be a success without your help behind the scenes. 4-H Youth: Please make sure to extend your hand to say thank you to the multitude of 4-H supporters who were present at the sale and who made this year possible for you. Please take a minute if you haven’t already done so to write a heartfelt note of thanks to advisors, donors, buyers and other volunteers! This means more to our sponsors and volunteers than you know, and we want to maintain their loyalty and support for years to come!
Trumbull County Fair Board News Just a reminder… many of our 4-H volunteers purchase Agricultural Society Memberships at fair time. The purchase of a membership affords you the opportunity to vote in the Agricultural Society Election of Senior Fair Board Members. This year’s election will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Trumbull County Sr. Fair Board Office Meeting Room. As in any election, please make sure to follow proper procedures in marking your ballot. We urge you to exercise your right to vote!

Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council
Congratulations to Leeoria Willis, a 3rd year
member of the Ohio Teen Leadership Council! She
will serve as a Chair of the Fundraising Committee
this year. We are proud of your accomplishment
and commitment to TLC and Ohio 4-H!
4-H Advisory Committee
On August 7th and 9th, we hosted over 30 youth at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education
Center for our annual STEM Days. From 9:00 am- 1:00 pm, youth participants learned all about space! Each
day’s activities were tailored to grades K-2 and grades 3-5 respectively. Some activities included solar
system hats, chromatography planets, plastic bottle rockets, galaxy slime, constellation sensory bags,
constellation creations, friction ramps, galaxy slime, density layers and planet shooters. The kids also loved
eating astronaut food- which consisted of freeze-dried fruit and ice cream sandwiches! They even got to
learn about the phases of the moon using Oreos! STEM is always one of my favorite programs! If you have
any suggestions on next year’s theme or would like to serve as a youth or adult volunteer, please let me
know! Thank you to the following individuals who helped make this year’s event a success: Shania Marshall,
Wendy & Rayna Lambert, Lorrie & Amber Dietz, Kurt Kassay, Jordan Smith, Izzi Petrilla, Cathy McCauley,
Deb Owen & Elaine Brown.
