The Black Prince (1330 – 1376)

struggle between England and France over succession to the French throne.

The French lawyers recognized Philip VI as king of France.

Edward III declared himself King of France.

The major reason to start the war, was England trading with Burgundy and Gascony.

The teenage girl Joan of Arc leaded the French troops to reclaim their lands.

By 1453, the coast of Calais was the only English possession left in France.
