From the State Membership andRetention DirectorJack Urbanic, FDD

December is a great time to prepare for the New Year.Does your membership committee have a plan to increasemembership? The membership committee should have a plan ready for theJanuary Council meeting.

• Are you carrying a Form #100 right now?

• Ask each Knight to always carry a form #100 withhim.

• Recommend that each member keep a copy in theglove compartment of his vehicle, in his briefcase, lunchbox, and sports bag.

• Consider periodically having a “Form #100 check”at council meetings to see if members have the documenton them. Collect one dollar from each member who doesnot have a Form #100. Use those funds to support a councilcharity or a council social function.

Instruct your recruiters to ask prospects to complete the formin neat, legible printing (or to assist the prospects in filling outthe information if necessary). Review the form’s sections withyour members to make sure that they understand what infor-mation is required. Do you know what is required? Our Goal for the 2009-2010 fraternal year is 350 new mem-bers.Membership as of December 8, 2009GOAL Intake Gain NEEDED Percent350 148 202 42.29%As of December 8, 20099 of the 58 councils have not reported new members.Congratulations Councils 6900 Charleston (177%), 7531Conway (150%), 8502Walterboro (175%), 10867 Cheraw(100%), and 12263 Bluffton (126.32%). Worthy Grand Knights and Members of the State Council:Pauline and I wish everyone a very Merry Christmasand a happy and healthy New Year.Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson recently announced thatall First Degree ceremonials until June 30, 2010, will be con-ducted in honor of our beloved priests. New member certifi-cates honoring “YEAR FOR PRIESTS” (#268 09/09) canbe ordered from the Supply Department.

You may print the candidate’s name and date on the certifi-cate on your home computer by using the template link. Youmay also print the certificate directly from your home com-puter. We recommend using high quality paper and a colorprinter to assure the quality of the finished product. A sampleof the “Year for Priests” new member certificate (#2689)”was recently mailed to grand knights; a matching HonoreeScroll (#271) is also available. Councils can personalize cer-tificates for candidates by using the template at www.kofc.org/yearforpriests.This does not mean that you can only have 1 honoree for adegree, you can still honor a lay member if it is desired. Justfill out 2 certificates for that degree, 1 for the Priest and theother for who you are also honoring. Select an honoree foreach degree you hold and present the certificates in a timelymanner, such as a mass or the night of the degree if the Priest
