Family Perspective: In today’s gospel Jesus asked Simon to start by “going a short distance.” later he asked Simon to “go into deeper water.” The first step toward reconciliation is usually a “short distance” which gives us the courage to go further “into deeper water.” Reconciliation starts with the first short step!

St. Helena’s Funeral Reception Committee: This outreach ministry has been very successful, provid-ing a light luncheon for family and friends to gather after a loved ones funeral in the Parish Hall. Many parishioners have volunteered their time and talent

and many others have asked what they can do to help. If you are interested in volunteering, pick up a survey/sign-up form located at the exits of the church. Check whatever way you are able to help out. The Committee will rotate volunteers so no one will be called upon for eve-ry reception. Drop the completed form in the baskets at the exits of the church or send to St. Helena’s Rectory Office. For questions contact Nancy Carroll @ 363-0432 or Joan Eggleston @ 363-5426.

UPDATE ! And A HUGE THANK YOU “COME IN OUT OF THE RAIN” The Holy Family Secular Franciscan

Fraternity of Vernon are thankful for your gen-erous response to their outreach program. Through your kind-ness they were able to provide to 2 different shelters! The Friars in downtown NYC and The Emmaus Ministry, Syracuse (for local neighbors without homes). Your gener-ous gift of over 200 Sweatshirts & Hoodies, and 2 Large Bags of Socks, plus $35 for subway tokens, provided warmth and shelter from the cold to many of our brothers and sisters. Thank You so very much!!

The Holy Family Secular Franciscans recent-ly elected new servants to help lead the fraterni-ty. Each office is elected to follow Jesus Christ in the manner of St. Francis & St. Clare. The fraternity meets on the 1st Saturday of the

month December thru March at noon. Gatherings start with meal, prayers, and then business portion. We are studying and discussing Pope Francis encyclical on the environment. Please feel free to join us at any gathering or call 829-2735 with questions. The famous weather-predicting groundhog came out Tuesday morning at Gobbler's Knob in Punsxutawney, Pennsylvania, and did not see his shadow -- which means an early spring.

Really! This is Central NY - I wouldn’t put those shovels away just yet.
