WALK IN THE NATURE RESERVE Sunday 15 April, 10am will be the first walk for this year. Meet in the car park on Quairading/York Road. The walks will continue on the 15th of each month up until October 15. FOOTY & NETBALL SEASON OPENER EVENT Sunday 15 April, at the Town Oval. Junior Netball and Football at 10:30am, Reserves at 12:10pm, Belles at 12:30pm and League at 2:15pm. The Bulls and Belles invite all players, sponsors, families and supporters, new and old, to join us for our first home game of the 2018 season and to stick around afterwards for an evening of good food, cold drinks and fun times! Calcutta teams (this year including the Belles) will be auctioned off on the night, gourmet burgers for sale so get your bidding and burger eating hands ready! HOW TO WRITE YOUR OWN WILL WORKSHOP Wednesday 18 April, 6pm at the Quairading CRC. Do you know what to include to ensure your will is a legally binding document? This one hour workshop presented by the Wheatbelt Community Legal Centre will help you determine what needs to be included, who can witness, how to appoint an executor and more. $5 per person, some nibbles provided. SCHOOL HOLIDAY DOUBLE FEATURE MOVIE ARVO Friday 20 April, at the Quairading CRC. Children’s movie ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ at 11am followed by an adults screening of ‘Billy Elliot”’ at 2pm. $2 per person, includes complementary popcorn. Register your interest or just come along! The Black Swan State Theatre’s performance of Ray Lawler’s “Summer of the Seventeenth Doll” will be broadcast live to the Quairading CRC. $10 per person includes nibbles (BYO drinks). Bookings essential, contact the Quairading CRC via quairading@crc.net.au or 9645 0096. ANZAC DAY SERVICE Wednesday 25 April, 11am at the Shire Memorial. This year we will be honouring our service women who served during WWII from Quairading. The Hon Mia Davies MLA will deliver the Anzac Day Address. At the completion of the service a bring and share luncheon social will be held at the Quairading Club. A fly over of Avon Valley Flight will take place at 11:30am during the service. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the wreaths that are used for the Anzac Day Service? There are 3 wreaths that are generally used as well as a community poppy wreath. THANKYOU Thank you so much to the Quairading community for the continuing financial support for Harrison’s ballet fund. A special thank you to the post office folk for the donation box on the counter. Harrison has just taken part in the Country Dance Challenge held at Northam last weekend and did very well in a strong rural field. Off to Perth competitions over the school holidays. Keep an eye out in the Banksia Bulletin and Harrison’s Facebook page for further updates. BELLES STREET STALL Thank you so much to all the generous Saturday morning shoppers who stopped by our street stall, snapped up some of our home made goodies or made a donation. We’re excited to hit the court this Sunday (with a full team!) and will soon be sporting new uniforms too. Winner of our first Lucky $50 Note raffle was Scott Walker, who graciously donated it back to the club (legend!). Our second half-full sheet will be circulated on Sunday afternoon and drawn Sunday night; another great reason to come down to Sunday arvo sport this weekend! MEMORIAL SERVICE Saturday 14 April at 1pm, a Memorial Service for Pauline McGinniss will be held at the Quairading Town Hall. Anyone wishing to drop of food for the wake is welcome to do so to the Quairading Club from 11am on

PROPOSED PEST PLANTS AMENDMENT LOCAL LAW 2018 The Shire of Quairading proposes to make a local law to amend the Shire of Quairading Pest Plants Local Law 2016. The purpose of the proposed Pest Plants Amendment Local Law 2018 is to prescribe pest plants within the district. The effect of the proposed Pest Plants Amendment Local Law 2018 is that owners and occupiers of land within the district are to comply with the provisions in this local law. Copies of the proposed Local Law may be obtained from the Shire’s website, or inspected at the Administration Centre, Jennaberring Road, Quairading, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. PHOTO CLUB May – June 2018. It has been 10 years since it all began! We would like to extend an invitation to all, including members and ex members to an exhibition showing off all of our member’s photos. We would also love to see your photos. If you have been a member we ask you to get 3 photos sorted and ready for the display. We would like your photos by the 1st week in May. QUAIRADING BADMINTON CLUB Tuesday 1 May, badminton will commence. Please arrive at 8:45am for a 9am start. New players welcome; men, women & children. Weekly playing fee $3. MEN’S GOLF Last Saturday Quairading Golf kicked off in style with 24 in the field. The competition was two person ambrose, with the winners on 58 nett were C Fraser & S Wilson, followed by C Shenton & K Johnson on 62. Best gross went to Doctor Ade & P Wallwork with 73. Special congrats to Anne Johnson for receiving life membership, great reward for a lot effort over a long period of time. This Saturday is the Colonel Cup, Stableford. LADIES GOLF Golf is back in full swing and we have had terrific numbers for our first 2 weeks of golf. Great to see so many new faces up there.
