A Popular Guest of Honor
Tamora Pierce’s signing yesterday had a line so long that it nearly stretched to the Tortall and back. Guess the wickedly witty author made quite an impression on the young and old. Did you get your book signed?

Party ReportChaos Wolf Launch
Party -- You could hear the conversation down the hallway before you even entered the room! Congratulations to local author, Sheryl Hayes.
The Red Room — Continued to deliver strong mood and atmosphere. The French Roast coffee was particularly strong.
Fanzine Lounge — Another intimate night of engaged conversations. A laid back place to catch up with others.
A Bear’s Picnic — The mac and cheese were a clear hit as well as some of the best homemade cookies this side of the Bay Area. This reception was still going strong up until the 2:00 AM hour!
Oasis - Not so much a reception as a place to detox and de-stress away from the hubbub of the convention. They have self-care items such as adult coloring books, fiddle toys, and a heat pack!

If you downloaded the Grenadine app on Thursday, and you didn’t hit update yet, do it now! The Programming crew is constantly adding and updating, and so should you!
Theatre Arcanos LARPTonight is the Jheregs’ quarterly business meeting, where the principal topic at
hand will be the selection of a new Head of Organization interests in Southpoint. Each of the under-bosses who run the various districts of Southpoint will be there with their own daggers to grind. And if the intercine rivalries aren’t complication enough, the secretive sorcerers of the Left Hand have their own agenda to add to the mix. It’s a complicated menu of risk, money, magic, and betrayal, but what’s life without a little spice?
Jheregs’ Banquet is an original parlor LARP written by Theatre Arcanos and set in the universe of Steven Brust’s Dragaeran Empire stories. This game takes place approximately 100 years before the time of Vlad Taltos and features 20 non-canonical pregenerated characters. Knowledge of the source material is useful, but not essential.
Spots are still open! Come to Collaborate 3 (Gaming) to sign up or show up at Synergy 4 at 7:00 PM tonight.
The midnight “Eye of Argon” reading is one of favorite con programs, but when I sat down at 11:58, I remembered that my reading skills went far south after I slugged myself in the eye last summer. Folks were very patient while I stumbled through my turns reading.
At the end, I asked the group if any “Argon” passages caused flashbacks to particularly good readings or enactments. Three stories:
While the Ecordian barbarian wrestles with a barely-dressed wench, a young man stands from his chair to interrupt the reading with: “Clothing doesn’t mean consent!”.
A first-timer is a copy editor who looks at one page, pales, and leaves the room.
Girlfriends enact the roles of Bug-Eyed Statue and Wench #3. Bug-Eyed Statue pops her eyes remarkably forward, and Wench #3 rolls into uncontrollable laughter. Neither knew Bug-Eyed Statue had that ability.
“The Eye of Argon” is a uniquely so-bad-it’s-great work of sword and sorcery, written by a 16-year-old doing his best Robert E. Howard impression while learning to use a thesaurus. Every BayCon goer ought to join a reading, if only to hear what its cult is laughing about. — Frisco Del Rosario
