About John Steinbeck

John Steinbeck was educated at Stanford University before dropping out.

He won the Pulitzer Prize for his book The Grapes of Wrath.

John Steinbeck also served as a war correspondent in World War 2.

Plot Summary

Kino faces a lot of conflict in the book.

His son gets stung by a scorpion and becomes very ill.

Kino and his wife take him to the town doctor and he refuses to help them because they do not have any money.

After Kino finds “the pearl of the world” everyone wants money from Kino and people try to attack him and steal it.

Setting/Period The story takes place somewhere

between Mexico and the Untied States.

The time the story took place was s somewhere around 1947.

Greed can control you. Don’t loose sight of what is

important. What doesn’t kill you makes you

stronger.
