Scriptural Reflection on Stewardship
Fourth Sunday of Lent
“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in
man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in
princes.” Psalm 118:8-9
Too often our society trains us to take refuge in man-
made riches. Yet Thomas Merton once wrote, “There is
no poverty so great as that of the prosperous.” Too many
possessions can leave us empty - always questing for
more things that do not really matter - while we
ignore Our Lord.
From the Pastor’s Desk…
What is a Sacrament?
An outward sign instituted by Christ to give grace.
We are very happy that the following 3rd graders
will be receiving the Sacrament of Holy
Communion this weekend.
We rejoice with them and their families!

Congratulations to all of this week’s recipients of
Holy Communion. May you all be blessed.
- Fr. Sean
Can you hear the music?
Thank you to all of the parishioners
who have contributed to the
“Commemorative Grand Piano Fund”.
So far, we have received $3300.
A generous parishioner has issued a challenge that if the
parish community can raise $20,000 by June 1, he will
contribute $6,000 towards the piano.
We will keep you updated on the progress of the project
that will serve as a remembrance of Fr. Sean’s time here
at Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Attention Parishioners! Each week we publish the bulletin. The final version has to be
uploaded by noon on Tuesday. Some holidays have special
schedules. If you would like to have your notice put in the
bulletin, please forward it to [email protected] by noon on
Monday. If your organization wants an insert, please call the
office so we can schedule when we have availability. The rule
is one insert per week.
Our Sunday bulletin is the primary method of communication
with you. Through our arrangement with J.P. Patrick
Company, the parish does not pay for the bulletin printing,
which saves us thousands of dollars every year. Our bulletin
is supported through the generosity of the advertisers - many
of whom are our own parish members. Most are members of
our local community. During these difficult economic times,
we urge you to support our advertisers with your patronage.
Tell the business owner that you appreciate their support of
our parish through their advertising in the bulletin. A strong
and vibrant parish is good for our community and so is a
strong business community.

St. Bart’s - Academy in Action
Our preschool students recently celebrated Earth
Day in a week-long unit of study. The children
enjoyed listening to Kids for the Earth and then
they brainstormed ways that they could help keep
the Earth healthy. Ms. Tone’s class also honored
the Earth by completing two different art projects.
The first used a coffee filter and watercolor paints
to create a representation of the Earth. Their
second project used a mixture of flour and paint to
form another depiction of the Earth on a paper
plate. After “cooking” their artwork in a
microwave oven, the students were amazed to see
that their artwork showed the texture of land and
water forms. The students had a lot of fun
working on these projects.
Mrs. Stein’s 3rd grade students recently
participated in a community outreach service
project called Hearts for Hope that brings hope in
the form of a ceramic heart to those who are
suffering. The children decorated ceramic hearts
that were distributed to people suffering from
disease, to those that are actively serving or have
retired from the military, and to people who have
lost loved ones. The children painted their hearts
and added words such as love, hope, courage, smile
and freedom to help inspire the recipient to carry
on. We are very proud of our third graders as they
continue to “shine their light” to those in need.

Bereavement Support Group-Spring 2012
Most of us have experienced the death and funeral of a
loved one and the painfully lonely time that follows. Grief
is difficult enough to bear when we are surrounded by
family and friends, but even harder when no one is there.
If you have lost a loved one, we invite you to join us for a
series of six sessions of information, mutual sharing, and
support in a spiritual, caring, strictly confidential setting.
Held in the Nazareth Center Lounge, our Bereavement
support group will continue to meet on the following
Wednesdays: May 2, 9, 16 and 23 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The group is lead by parish volunteers who have been
trained as support group facilitators.
If you are interested in joining us, or if you would like more
information, please contact Felicia Levine on 908 889-2100
x22. All calls are confidential.
