Here the student enters as an avatar and participates in the session just like they were there in real life. Students can participate in group discussions with the professor as well as fellow students. Among the technological innovations on which the teaching activity can rely, UNINETTUNO developed a true Island of Knowledgeon Second LifeTM, where the students’ avatars and the profes-sors/tutors’ avatars can interact by their own voice in a three-dimensional virtual world. On Second LifeTM, virtual leaningcommunities are set up.

This is delivered through synchronic mode by means of inter-active class, video and audio-conferencing systems, that are implemented in the Web-based Didactics, but also in the threedimension classroom set up on UNINETTUNO’s Island of Knowledge on Second Life. ProGraMMe StrUctUre

The Uninettuno DBA is a part-time degreethat is studied on line and through one residential workshop in years 1 and 2. The DBA is delivered in 2 stages: the taught stage and the research stage.

The taught stage covers years 1 and 2 and will develop your knowledge to in management and leads to the award ofMSc in Business Research. You can progress of the DBA stage when you successfully complete the MSc.

This stage focusses on your independentresearch with the help and support of yourpersonal supervisor. You will build on the research skills developed in your MSc anddevelop a doctoral thesis on an area of interest to you or on your own organisation.The final outcome will be your viva-voce,where your work will be examined by an external examiner and you will have the opportunity to discuss your work.

The Director of the DBA programme will lead the academic content and our businessmentors and academic supervisors will beavaiable to give one-to-one direct support.

docTor of Business adminsTraTion (dBa)(sTandard Track)

The DBA is the most recognised of what are known as professional doctorates represents the highest qualification available in business and management and is explicitly intended to be undertaken by middle and senior managers who wish to develop their personal and professional skills through deeper understanding of how research in business and management is undertaken and the importance of reflection and criticality in their thinking. Like other DBA courses that are currently offered, the proposed doctorate would consist of a period during which online modules are asynchronously studied.

The DBA Healthcare is a unique doctoral programme designed for senior executives in the healthcare industry and healthcare services. The Program works the same as the standard DBA with two entry levels – year 1 and year 2 (for holders of a related Master’s degree and academic research experience).

The DBA Healthcare has two specializations: in Public Health and in Health Management. Prospective students should submit a Research Proposal on a relevant subject and attend an interview with the Research Director. The proposed Doctorate topic has to be unique and its scientific exploration should contribute in the global knowledge of the domain.

The Research Proposal should include the rationale, proposed methodology, research design, primary and secondary questions and an initial literature review. The normal duration of the Doctorate is 4 years, however, holders of a Master’s degree and with relevant research and professional experience can apply for direct entry in year 2 of the Program.

This innovative Healthcare Doctorate is offered in collaboration with the Organization Atheneum Liberal Studies.

The direct entry route is designed for experienced senior managers who have already gained an MBA or an equivalent management degree. With the direct entry route, you start your DBA at the level of Year 3, and progress immediately to developing your research proposal. After completing the modules in your first year, you should have their final research plan ready to go. It is expected that it will take you between 1.5 and 2.5 years to complete your thesis after your research plan has been approved. The direct entry is a fast-paced and rigorous route, so you should expect to devote a great deal of time getting your thesis ready for the final viva-voce examination.

You will be taught research methods, both online and at two residential workshops to equip you in conducting your research. You will be assigned an academic mentor to help you through your journey. The modules in your first year will cover, in addi-tion to research methods, academic writing, statistics, doctoral research, data mining techniques and popular software packages used in research.

There are two intakes for the direct entry route each year. The first is in April and the second in October of each year.

Class sizes are limited to 10 students in each intake.

MakinG an aPPlication

For entry into the 3 year DBA programme you will need to have an MBA or an equivalent Master’s degree in a business related subject. Also you will need at least three years experience in a senior role un your organsiation

eU and international StUdentS

EU and International students whose first language is not English are required to have an appropriate grade/score in an approved examination in English language (such as IELTS) Academic) before they can register on an academic programme. You will need to show that you have achieved I ELTS 7.0 (with no less than 6.0 in any element).

direct dba entry to year 3

To be considered for direct entry into the DBA programme you will need a research degree (for example MSc, MPhil, MRes, PhD). This must be in a business related field.

Students are required to submit a shortresearch outline in an area of researchrelated expertise. Only research outlines that match an available research topic will be considered, and students must indicate the research topic on theirresearch outline. This does not need to be a research proposal, just an outline as to why this research is important and what are the expected outcomes.

There are 2 intakes each year: in October and January. If you do not satisfy the di-rect entry requirements to year 3, you will register at year 1 for the MSc in Manage-ment Research and then progress to DBA after satisfactorily completing the MSc. Note: you can exit with MSc if you want and return again to the DBA after a break. The maximum time allowable is 3 years break.
