The Perl Community
is a
large and complex
place
Many interesting corners
I've been exploring it
for over

Some history
Our story begins
in the mid 90s
The Perl Community
is small
and disorganised
And largely
based around Usenet
And a few

In 1997
O'Reilly organised the first Perl Conference
Many Perl people
meet each other
face to face
for the first time
The idea of
Perl Mongers
is born
The use of the camel image in associationwith the Pyramids isa

Used with permission
Over the following years the community grows and diversifies
