THE SENIOR CLASS
Collettsville High School
Collettsville, N. C.
The pine burr and the tree that bore it go
on without ending or even without pausing
in their life-cycle of growth and change.
Just as the pine biur carries on the heritage
of the mother tree, so the young men and
women who graduate from Collettsville High
perpetuate tiie teachings and the ideals in-
stilled in them by their school.
Through this volume, we have tried to
give a glimpse of our school year and of
those influences that have left their im-
prints on our lives.
A wish has been granted. A hope has been fulfilled. A new gym-
nasium, workshop, and cafeteria are now a part of CoUettsville School.
To many we owe debts of gratitude - - to the community, who voted
in favor of the school bonds; to oui principal, Mr. Porter, who never
ceased to present our needs. But especially are we grateful to Mr.
Abernethy and the members of the Caldwell County Board of Educa
-
tion, who are tireless in their efforts to better the schools of our coun-
ty. It was they who had the responsibility of apportioning the funds,
of planning the construction, and of seeing the work through to its
completion - - of making our dream a reality.
To show our sincere appreciation, we proudly dedicate this 1958
edition of the PINE BURR to the Caldwell County Board of Education.
Mr. Davis Tuttle; Mr. Clarence Sherrill; Mr. Maynard Teague; Mr.
C. M. Abernethy, Superintendent; Mr. George Boutwell, Chairman.
(Not pictured - Mr. John Frazier).
Youth and gaiety were his personal attributes; happiness was his
goal. To know him was a privilege; to be his friend was an honor. In
appreciation for his many fine qualities, we, the 1958 seniors, give
this page in memory of our unforgettable schoolmate - - Cleadus
Clarke
«
Get rid of that dangling participle, Charles.
