Mining & Metals

Bechtel brings more than a half-century of experience to the mining and metals industry, with more than 400 projects completed.

Backed by that experience, Bechtels mining and metals business unit performs engineering, procurement, construction, construction management, and project management of major mining and metals projects. These include mineral exploration, mine planning, materials handling and processing, pollution control, and metal forming. Bechtel has also performed more than 1,000 studies for facilities on six continents, helping to enable customers to produce everything from aluminum to uranium.

Bechtels government services unit provides U.S. government agencies with a wide range of services, including environmental restoration and remediation, energy and laboratory management, defense and security, and demilitarization.

Bechtels civil business unit builds infrastructure, aviation, and rail projects that spur economic growth and improve quality of life for millions of people around the world.

Our Infrastructure group has delivered some of the largest and most complex civil infrastructure projects in the world, including major motorways and road interchanges, tunnels, bridges, ports and harbors, and commercial projects.

At any given time, were hard at work on hundreds of projects worldwide from preliminary engineering to full-on construction of power plants, refineries, smelters, roads, and airports. Highlights of recent projects include:

Bechtel will provide engineering, procurement, and construction of a $16 billion liquefied natural gas processing plant in Queensland, Australia. This will feature two liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of 7.8 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year and create up to 6,000 jobs.

Bechtel is involved with two chemical demilitarization projects at U.S. military sites in Colorado and Kentucky, helping the U.S. government eliminate chemical weapons that were stockpiled, but never used, following World War II.
