To all SNMGM Members: Welcome to 2017, a new year, a new board, and plenty to do. If you did not get to go to the Annual Awards Banquet, it was a great get together, and I want to thank everyone for all the great food that was brought and everyone’s help. Looking forward to next year I want to focus I little more on our Field Trips. We are looking to join some of the trips with the Pahrump Group. Anyone that has any suggestions for Sites please bring them to the Board Meeting or the General Meeting. We are also looking for volunteers to coordinate these events, which will continue to insure safe and pleasurable trips.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (Continued from Page 1)
In regard to the shop, Ron Johnson who is on the Board, and has done a wonderful job with the shop, will continue to coordinate with me on the items that he needs. Right now there are a few things going on with improvements of the grounds at the Shop, but this is temporary, and we will get new procedures on washing rocks and dumping the water. Please respect the wishes of Harsh Investment Properties, as they have asked we do not wash the rocks outside of the building. Again, looking to a great 2017, and having continue success and fun.
Keep Rocking. Wayne Muth

Shop Talk Dissolving Cured Epoxy & Polyester Resins
I had a customer ask me the other day if we (Desert Art Supplies) had anything that would dissolve hard-
ened epoxy. She had several Swarovski quartz-crystal clusters some of which had a broken crystal or two.
She wanted to remove the broken pieces and replace them with some of the salvaged unbroken crystals.
She had tried soaking the clusters in acetone but with no luck. I asked her if she would let me experiment
with a cluster, she agreed. We stock a solvent called Attack and I wanted to test it on her item before
recommending the product. As per Attack instructions, I put the cluster in a glass jar and poured just
enough solvent to covered the crystals. I made sure the jar lid sealed properly. I left the solution over-
night and checked on it the next morning and sure enough the epoxied crystals were separated from the
main cluster. All the pieces were washed with soap and water and rinsed in acetone. Any Attack solution
can be saved and reused. Attack is a hazardous chemical containing Methylene Chloride. Be sure to fol-
low the safety instructions. Always do a sample test before proceeding on with your project. Be Safe.

Unfinished Business: Fran Stratton proposed, seconded by Lloyd Chayette that “the club purchase a new 18” slab saw, not to exceed $3,000.00.” The membership approved the proposal. New Business: A shop clean up is scheduled for Jan 24th. The Eagles returned the check for the Awards Banquet kitchen fee, due to the excellent condition in which the kitchen was left. Cindy Allison proposed, seconded by Jim Jones, and approved by the membership that, “the meeting be adjourned.” Meeting adjourned at 7:07 P.M.
