The Positive Effects of Volcanoes

Despite being famous for its dectructive nature, volcanoesdo also have some positive effects. These include; making the soul richer, making the scenery around the volcano much morebeautiful, resources for energy’s extraction and possibly generating tourist site.

EFFECTS OF VOLCANOES ON SOIL

When the volcano erupts it throws out a lot of ash. In the short term this is very dangerous to both humans and animals, but in the long termit benefits the earth around it. The reason this sis because the ash layer contains many useful minerals which eventually be turned in to fertile soil. Thus, when a volcano erupts it may destroy crops/ farmland surrouding it but over time this volcano will promote the growth of new crops and new farmland.

BEAUTIFUL SCENERY

A volcanoes’ eruption may not strike people as the most beautiful close-up, but from a distance and after a little whilethe volcanoes’ eruption can produce some of the worlds most breath-taking scenes. The most common of this is the making of beautiful sunsents in the dusk following the eruption. Other notable features include; plant rich enviroments, stunning eruptions and lovely

lava fountains.

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

Due to the immense amount of heat formed under the volcano, the steam released when the volcano erupts is huge and can be utilised to help move the turbine therefore producing energy. Countries like Indonesia (which contains many volcanoes) are using this form of renewable energy when their active volcanoes erupt. They made Geothermal Power Plants to exploit this renewable source of energy. What’s more, the amount of steam formed by the heat is near infinite.

TOURISM

Tourists cometo visit a country in order to see the sites or relax. Some of these sites may include volcanoes be they active, dormant or extinct. During an eruption a tourist might view a spectactular eruption or climb into the crater (dormantor extinct volcanoes only). Two countries which have benifitted from the volccanoes in terms of trourism are Hawaii and Iceland.

Hawaii is blessedto have a many number of islands many of which contain active volcanoes (they are on the ring of fire). New islands are born every day and tourists enjoy seeing these sites. Hawaii gains a lot of its income from tourism-volcanoes play a role in that. Secondly, due to the major disruption caused by the Icelandic volcano “Eyjafjallajojkull”. Many people worldwide have been interested in seeing the volcano live. Since the eruptuion the Icelandic Government recorded a massive boom in the amount of tourists coming the the country, and quite a substantial amount ofmoney has been made from these natural wonders.
