What a magnificent day we had for the Faction
Athletics Carnival. It was great to see so many
parents, carers, grandparents and friends
supporting our amazing athletes during
Tuesday’s Faction Carnival. Congratulations
to Blue faction on winning the carnival and to
all of the individual champions. Special thanks
to Miss Wheki for doing such an ORPSome
job organising a fantastic event given it was
her first time. Another thanks to everyone who
helped out on the day.

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
It doesn’t matter if your kids miss a day of school here or there, right?
Unfortunately, it does. Absence from school, even as early on as Pre-Primary and Kindergarten, can have a significant effect on the educational outcomes and life choices of the students. Absenteeism is an early indicator of ‘academic risk’ and can have a major effect on performance. They miss out on important writing, reading and mathematics skills.
Going to school is your child’s ‘job’, and regular attendance builds good work habits which will help them to achieve in the workforce. They know they need to go to school, so you as parents need to let them know that this is a priority for both you and them. After all, while it might be hard to get them going in the morning, when they get to school they are engaged actively in learning important life skills, such as team work, problem solving, and conflict resolution, in addition to their school subjects.
2020 KINDY ENROLMENTS
Applications for children born between 1 July 2015 -
30 June 2016 are being taken for our 2020 intake of

PBS
There are a number of commonly asked questions
from our school community about PBS.
Through newsletters and facebook, one of these
frequently asked questions will be posted along with
the answer from our PBS Team.
Why is it important?
Students can not engage in learning the curriculum if they do not know how to behave. The values and social skills taught can be applied toward all areas of their lives and helps them become effective members of society.

to help. Cash and eftpos facilities will be available on
the day.
FATHERS’ DAY STALL

volunteered on the stall days. Your help was

VOLUNTEERS
BUNNINGS SAUSAGE SIZZLE
27th October 2019
As you are aware we run Bunnings Sausage sizzles
to help raise much needed funds throughout the
year. We require volunteers to help us out on
Sunday 27th October at Halls Head Bunnings. All
profits from our last two sausage sizzles will be going
towards School camp 2020. It doesn’t matter if your
children aren’t going to camp next year, the more
hands to help out will eventually make its way back
to you. The P&C is here to help and benefit every
child in the school. So please if you are able to help
out please let me know.
If we don’t get helpers the reality is we will have to
hand back these fundraisers and won’t be able to
donate as much money back into the school. If you
are available to help out please contact me on
0414647096. Thank you.
We would love to hear from as many families as possible regarding how you would like to be part of our amazing P & C.
Joel Gray, P&C President
We all go through life’s ups and downs – we can have a relationship breakdown, lose a job, face
financial difficulty or simply find life overwhelming, and when these things happen, it’s the people
around us that can be the ones to help us navigate those challenges.
That’s why for the last ten years national suicide prevention charity R U OK? has been helping
Australians recognise the signs that someone in their world might be doing it tough and giving them
the skills to start a conversation that might change or save a life.
By giving people the skills and confidence to see the signs a loved one is struggling and reach out to
them, we hope to strengthen the scaffolding around those who are going through tough times and
help them access appropriate support long before they’re in crisis.
It’s a big mission and one we can’t achieve without your support.
Here is one way you can help us get there in 2019:
1. Learn how to ask R U OK? and encourage others to do the same
It can be confronting to start a conversation with a loved one we’re worried about and part of this
apprehension revolves around what to do if someone answers “No”. To help people overcome this fear
and respond safely and sensitively, R U OK? has developed a four-step framework to guide people
through a conversation.
1. Ask R U OK?
2. Listen
3. Encourage action
4. Check in
R U OK? is an open source campaign which means our conversation tips, guides and resources –
including more information on these four steps - are free and can be downloaded from the
website www.ruok.org.au The resources are designed to build your confidence in using these four
steps and help you encourage the people in your school, workplace, sports club and community to do
the same. Make this the year you download, read and share them.
