There is strength in numbers: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9‐12
Who will step up next to join our numbers to improve the Culture of Life?

SEPTEMBER‐Mary Neugebauer Mary Neugebauer is a junior at St.Vincent‐St. Mary High School. She has been involved in the Pro‐Life Youth Congress since she has been in 8th grade when she went to the March for Life for the first time. Since then, she has been the President of the Right to Life club at St. Vincent‐St. Mary for two years where she helped restart a pro‐life club. Currently, Mary is the Summit County Commissioner where she works hands on with the leaders and adult advisors of the pro‐life clubs in Summit County. Mary will always be committed to the pro‐life cause. In addition to her many pro‐life activities, Mary loves gardening, horses, animals, singing, being in the kitchen, children, reading, working with her hands, and sewing. At school, she is involved in the Spanish club and career and college activities. Outside of school she is involved in LeadersNow International, an organization that trains girls to be leaders now and in the future. She is also hoping to get involved in 4‐H and raise chickens.

“Saying is one thing, doing is another”—16th century French writer Michel de Montaigne
“Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.”—St. Francis of Assisi
“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.”—Confucious
“Actions speak louder than words”—unknown
If you’ve ever studied a foreign language, you may remember that the first time you walked into class and
the teacher started speaking, you were totally lost and confused. If you’ve ever been to a foreign country where
English is not spoken, you’d feel equally as lost. However, a simple act like pointing to your mouth to indicate you
are hungry, or cupping your hand and bringing it to your mouth to show you are thirsty can bridge the
communication gap.
We all have beliefs, hopes and dreams, but they don’t turn into realities unless we act upon them. It is our
actions more than our words that can make a greater change. So it is with the pro‐life movement. We can talk and
spread the word and it will do good, but if we do activities to promote what we speak of, not only do we increase
our credibility, but we provide physical help where it is needed.
The Right to Life of Northeast Ohio Program Manual is now part of
the start up materials for all new student pro life groups who become part
of the Pro Life Youth Congress. Those groups who didn’t receive a manual
when they purchased start up materials can purchase it separately. This
manual is a valuable asset to helping put your words into actions. Although
written for adult church and pro‐life organizations, it contains many
programs which can easily be completed by student groups. You can
choose two, three or even four programs and put them on your calendar to
complete throughout the school year. A short term program such as
“Change For Life” or a longer term program such as “Here I Am” can be
used to benefit area crisis pregnancy centers. A program such as “Dignity
For Life” can be custom‐made to help benefit the elderly either at home or
at nursing or assisted living centers. No matter what programs you choose
to participate in, there are lots of ideas to help you perform positive activities which support the sanctity of life from
conception through natural death.
I was a teenager when abortion was legalized, and I was so certain that it would be overturned. However,
the 1970’s were very confusing. There were protests going on about the war in Viet Nam, women’s rights, racism,
and many other things. The very divided youth of that era are now the middle aged adults of today. The issue of
abortion is at our forefront now more than any other time since 1973. You are the future we are depending on to
promote the Culture of Life. Put your words into action, help bring an end to abortion soon, and to preserve the
dignity of life until natural death. With God’s help, we can do it!
