the processes in creating my final design

The Processes In Creating My Final Design I started off by making some quick thumbnail ideas using Photoshop. The purpose of doing this was to get as many different ideas down and then to ask for feedback from my peers on what style works the best. Above is the annotated feedback I received on my designs. I took the feedback from my thumbnail ideas and came up with some more polished, detailed ideas. I got good feedback from my 2-tone vector face of Ender, so I expanded on it more. I also decided to explore the possibility of having the helmet as the focus and so I created a vectored helmet, using illustrator. I created a simple coloured helmet firstly, but I didn’t really like it so I decided to create a more grungy style using dry brushes in Photoshop. I liked this one a lot more and so decided that I would attach it to the email I would send to the LWL editor. The feedback from the LWL editor was all positives, on both ideas I pitched to him. This meant that I had the choice to choose what design I wanted to expand on, the 2-tone vectored face or the grungy helmet design. I decided to develop the grungy style design as I most enjoyed it and also because I thought the other design was too simple. I then decided to completely re-design the helmet and the colour scheme as I thought that I could improve on the idea a lot more by starting again, whilst keeping the grungy style. On my blog, I have posted a step by step on my processes of creating this design. I then started to develop this idea further. I decided that the text “The Enders Game Issue” should cover the whole of the visor on the helmet, the idea given to me by a peer. I think it looks a lot better covering the whole visor and makes the text the focal point of the whole cover. I then added some more paint splats onto the helmet and a new colour correction to give it a grungier look. My final design was then finished. I benefited a lot from the feedback I received and I am very pleased with the outcome.

The Processes In Creating My Final Design

I started off by making some quick thumbnail ideas using Photoshop. The purpose of

doing this was to get as many different ideas down and then to ask for feedback from my

peers on what style works the best. Above is the annotated feedback I received on my

designs.

I took the feedback from my thumbnail ideas and came up with some more polished, detailed ideas. I got good feedback from my

2-tone vector face of Ender, so I expanded on it more. I also decided to explore the possibility of having the helmet as the focus and so I created a vectored helmet, using illustrator. I

created a simple coloured helmet firstly, but I didn’t really like it so I decided to create a more grungy style using dry brushes in

Photoshop. I liked this one a lot more and so decided that I would attach it to the email I would send to the LWL editor.

The feedback from the LWL editor was all positives, on both ideas I pitched to him. This meant that I had the choice to choose what design I wanted to expand on, the 2-tone

vectored face or the grungy helmet design. I decided to develop the grungy style design

as I most enjoyed it and also because I thought the other design was too simple.

I then decided to completely re-design the helmet and the colour scheme as I thought that I could improve on the idea a lot more

by starting again, whilst keeping the grungy style. On my blog, I have posted a step by step on my processes of creating

this design.

I then started to develop this idea further. I decided that the text “The Enders Game

Issue” should cover the whole of the visor on the helmet, the idea given to me by a peer. I think it looks a lot better covering the whole visor and makes the text the

focal point of the whole cover.

I then added some more paint splats onto the helmet and a new colour correction to give it a grungier look. My

final design was then finished. I benefited a lot

from the feedback I received and I am very pleased with

the outcome.
