Mission of PESAThe mission of PESA @ Terry is

to provide a network for highlymotivated and passionate

students who are committed tothe pursuit of business careersin the many fields within the

mass media, entertainment,

and sports industries. We willconduct speaker meetings,panels and events that allow

students to network with

professionals and learn moreabout the business of the

entertainment and sports

industry.




The PESA Summit

The PESA Summit is a day long annualconference with panels and workshops thatdiscuss the business of the film, television,music, fashion and sports industries. Theidea for The PESA Summit was originatedby Kamilah Gray, Founder and President,who knew that the Terry College of Business

needed a professional outlet for students tolearn about the entertainment and sportsindustries. The idea for The PESA Summitwas adapted by the Harvard BusinessSchool’s African American AlumniAssociation’s 12th annual Leadership

Summit about “The Changing Landscape ofMedia and Entertainment”. The vision is foreach panel to be simulate a “Ted Talk”.

The Evolution of the

Music IndustryThis panel will cover the evolving trends of themusic industry, and discuss the profitability of themusic industry in the age of new media. This panelwill be moderated by David Barbe (right), Director ofthe Music Business Certificate Program at the TerryCollege of Business.

The panel will consist of at least four people. We arelooking for:

- An Artist- A professional at a record label

- Music Brand Manager of a product- Terry Alum doing music business

- Etc…




The Business of Fashion:

Beyond the GlitzThis panel will provide a behind the sceneslook and what it takes to work on thebusiness side of the fashion industry.

There will be a minimum of four people on

a panel and we have not secured aprofessional moderator as yet. We arelooking for:

- Someone in Fashion PR- Finance/Marketing/AccountingProfessionals at a Fashion company- Terry Alumni Fashion Entrepreneurs- Etc.




Career Opportunities in

Entertainment and

Sports This panel will give a detailed look into thebusiness opportunities available in theEntertainment and Sports industries, and helpstudents learn the tools and tricks to securing a jobor internship within such a competitive industry.

There will be a minimum of 4 people on this panel.We have not secured a moderator as yet, but weneed business professionals in these industries:

-Film and or Television

-Sports-Fashion-Music




Beyond the Sports

AgencyThis panel will allow students to see theother side of sports, beyond the agencyperspective. Students will learn how tobrand themselves for a business career inthe sports industry, and will get to networkwith sports professionals.

We have not secured a moderator as yet butwe need at least 4 professionals on thepanel.




How to Network Like a

Ninja This workshop is going to be a simulated networkingsession where students will get an interactive look athow to network with industry professionals. There willalso be literature available for students to learn whattrades, organizations and online resources to tune intofor networking opportunities. With the job market in itsmost competitive phase ever, students need to know

how to set themselves apart, and the Ninja Networkingsession will teach them just that.

Looking for at least 2 professionals to run this session.

- One from the Television Industry- One from the Music Industry or another industryrelated to facets of PESA




The Crafty Resume and

Cover LetterIn this competitive job market students need tolearn exactly what it takes to make their resumeand cover letter stand out to recruiters.

We are really looking for HR Representatives andrecruiters for this workshop. Students will beable to bring their resumes to get a quickcritique. We need at least 4 professionals in thisworkshop… HR Reps or Recruiters who workwithin:

- Sports

- Music- Film- Fashion




Keynote Speaker

To end the first annual PESA Summit we arelooking for a speaker who can give a 10-15minute speech about the changing trendswithin the entertainment industry andinspire students to fulfill their passion fullthrottle. The only thing that will ever keepthis organization running is if the studentsare passionate about pursuing their dreamsand don’t get discouraged by the job market.
