-Foreign population in Lombardy is about a quarter of the Italian one (24.7%). At the end of last century, a larger number of migrants started to reach Lombardy and Italy, from countries outside Europe, mainly from Africa, Asia, South America and Eastern Europe.

- Migration is still underway and is an important debated issue . Now the region is characterized by dense urbanization. The population, however, slowly decreases in density towards the lowlands, and more sharply towards the mountains but not in the main Alpine valleys.

The Albanians have retained leadership in the provinces of Pavia and Lodi, and have substituted the Moroccans in the province Sondrio. These are passed to the summit at Varese, Como, Brescia and Cremona (shared with the Indians), confirming the first place also in Bergamo, Mantova and Lecco.

The province of Milan is distinguished not only by the intensity of the irregularity, which is higher than elsewhere, to be the only exception to the general superiority of the combination Albania and Morocco.

Among the municipalities outside the capital are the dominant Romanians, while the Municipality of Milan Peruvians (also harassed by the Ecuadorian) have taken the leadership to the Egyptians.
