WednesdaysMarch 4, 11 & 18 andMay 6, 13, 20 & 27 VIP Room – 7pm

Pastor’s Class is your opportunity to become connected with Senior Pastor Paul’s heart and his vision for ICLV in an open atmosphere.

During this class you will build relationships with Pastor Paul and the ICLV Staff and leaders, while becoming a part of one of this nation’s world changing ministries!

As I sat in the Las Vegas Plannin

g Commission meeting last Thursday eve

ning,

I realized that God was moving in an

amazing way and fought back tears

as one by

one our city council members spoke i

n favor of our plans fo

r Prayer Mountain and

its already famous, prayer

tower. They even spoke well of the ch

urch and those that

stood tall in favor of th

e plans.

A local news reporter startled me with a nudge

snapping me out of my momentary

emotional state. She asked

me how I felt. How can you put into words fi ve yea

rs of

work, waiting, praying and conte

nding? How can you express your gra

titude to God

and to all those who have foug

ht the good fi ght of faith

? People like Ron Portaro, P

aul

Kennedy and countless oth

ers who have given sacrifi cially,

joined us for prayer at t

he

mountain or at our 7am prayer here

on campus, or fasted in order t

o move this vision

forward. In my view these are the heroes. How about the R

iesselmanns, who led the

way in the neighborhood o

r my wife who led the charge on Sat

urdays onsite prayer

meetings. There are so many more that ever

yone’s name cannot be listed in this

article

but they are listed on th

e book of works in Heaven.

On this day, I had the jo

y of witnessing one of the grea

test victories of our

church. Together we had faced

our Sanballats and Tob

iahs. Together we leaned

on the favor and will of God. Together

we will continue on to build

the Prayer

Mountain campus for the

glory of our God.

This victory should em

bolden us to continue ou

r heavenly vision: fi ve a

mazing

locations surrounding ou

r great city, as one peop

le with one purpose. Now we need

your help more than eve

r. I want to encourage you to

join this team by serving

in

a ministry, giving to build t

he vision, and inviting

friends and family to our E

aster

play. Our greatest days are ahe

ad! A huge ‘Thanks’ to all of y

ou, for all that you

do! Denise, the staff and I lo

ve you.

May the power of the res

urrection fi ll you.

Pastor Joel Garcia

“When you

look into your

daily world

what do you

see? Are you

happy about

its condition?

How will you

impact it?”

Learning To Walk a New Way“What happened to me?” is usually the fi rst response we feel at the altar after we open our life and invite Christ to take it over. At that moment we sense something happening on the inside, in the deepest recesses of our soul and spirit. The feeling is like when the President exonerates someone from fulfi lling an entire life sentence. An early release from prison is refreshing to say the least. As a Correctional Offi cer, I have personally witnessed the jubilee on an inmate’s face the day of his release. This is what Jesus referred to as the born-gain experience (John 3:7); an exodus out of the old into the new. When you are born-again you become a new person inside. It’s a liberating occurrence! The apostle Paul affi rms this, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV) Therefore, when you feel different inside you begin to talk differently, ultimately impacting your daily walk. Within a few days those around you who know you best begin to ask, “What’s up with you? Somehow you seem different, you are not the same person.” They are trying to make sense of this “new” man or woman. What they are witnessing is the physical manifestation of spiritual transformation.

So what’s next? Your newfound faith has taken you into another direction. Now, you must learn to take certain faith steps to walk in a new way. The apostle Peter provides a clue to your next step. He states in 2 Peter 1:5, “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge…” Therefore, you must give “diligence” to the process of discipleship by adding to your faith virtue, which is basically adopting new god-like qualities to your life. These qualities naturally emerge from your experience in Christ on a daily basis. You don’t have to strive to make them happen, they just happen because you are being obedient to in the process of discipleship. I have provided a few practical steps to help you walk in a new way:

Get plugged in – Consistent attendance to a local church is key in the fi rst few months of your conversion experience. You need to learn more about this new faith and ‘why’ you believe what you are now feeling to be true. You will grow spiritually by attending weekly services beginning with Pastor’s Class on Wednesday nights, and/or our New Foundations Class on Sunday mornings.

Become a disciple of Christ – A disciple is someone who goes through the process of learning, which allows you to experience this new life. There’s so much more you need to be acquainted with. A disciple is dedicated to learning and sharing their faith with others. By this you grow spiritually.

Build your faith – Start reading the Bible. We recommend the book of John. It’s a book of the bible that speaks clearly about the life of Christ. Also respond to altar calls, and allow the Holy Spirit to touch and fi ll you. Our leadership team will pray and encourage you.

Talk to Jesus everyday – We call this “a prayer life.” Prayer is basically communing with God each day. Remember you have made a new friend now get to know Him. Immediately or within a short time you will sense His presence in you and around you in greater measures.

Be baptized in water – One of the commands given to believers, like you, was to be immersed in water, which prophetically symbolizes your old life and a new beginning (Romans 6:3). When I was baptized in water I was given a picture in my mind of what Jesus did for me; he died and rose again. (Baptisms are usually once a month on a Sunday evening. Call the offi ce for more details.)

Within weeks and months you will understand and grow in your newfound faith, and experience Christ in a wonderful way. The Christian life is the most exciting of all because we get to participate is God’s eternal plan. Congratulations!

Interview : “Walk This Way” AN INTERVIEW WITH PRODUCER ADAM BARTA

Question: So what is the name of the Easter production this year?

Adam Barta: It is an original musical called, “Walk this Way”

Question: That sounds interesting… what’s it about?

Adam Barta: This production is about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (the Rock of Ages) told alongside some of the greatest rock songs of all time.

Question: Should we expect to see something like “Jesus Christ Super Star?”

Adam Barta: No… not at all! You are probably getting that idea from our subtitle “a rock opera”. Actually, our production is completely original, taken from the Gospel of John. Our hope is that people will encounter a very powerful Jesus, and fi nd themselves in the story as if it is happening today.

Question: What exactly is a “Rock Opera”?

Adam Barta: I guess we will fi nd that one out together. You will just have to come and fi nd out!

Question: You guys have always been known for your amazing productions. What sets this one apart from the others?

Adam Barta: We have never actually written a musical before. We are very excited to present the very powerful story of Jesus, set to music. Also, we have explored the idea of time travel in previous productions, but this time around we thought it would be an interesting twist to depict what would happen if Jesus lived and died in 2009 instead of 33 A.D.

Question: Now that is something I gotta see!! That sounds like a big undertaking! How do you guys write a new production and pull it off in such a short period of time?

Adam Barta: It takes a lot of people to pull something like this off. We have an incredible team that pour their heart and soul into everything that we do. With a unifi ed team and God’s anointing, anything is possible.

Question: For those who are not a part of the drama team, what can they do to help?

Adam Barta: Pray, and get the word out. Remember that the reason why we do this is to reach people.

Question: Can anybody join the drama team the next time around?

Adam Barta: Absolutely! We are always excited to welcome new people into the drama ministry. We have many events going on throughout the year besides our Easter and Christmas productions. We also have professional coaches that will pour into your life.

Compassion Coalition

The Dream Center’s Compassion Coalition Warehouse has been changing lives in Las Vegas for 2 years now. We have been able to Partner with Las Vegas area Churches and other non-profi t agencies around the city to reach thousands of people with all kinds of household goods. Lives have been changed and families touched.

One family that has left an impact on all of us at the warehouse is the Martha Cardenas family. Martha is a single mother of three. She works at the MGM Mirage to support her family and volunteers time at the warehouse. Over the course of the last 2 years Martha has been able to put into practice the heart and goal of our ministry “To Lift Up” those we are able to bless.

Today Martha is preparing to move into her brand new home, a home that she helped to build as a participant in Habitat for Humanity. Day after day Martha would rise early in the morning dress in her “builder’s clothes” and report to the Habitat build site. Around 10:30 am she would arrive at the warehouse and greet everyone with a “hello how are you sister?” and in response, reply “Let me tell you it’s been good” on occasion she would say “its been bad” but always “I am blessed, I am blessed” She would continue to share the latest victory that God had given her. Shortly after noon she would head home to shower and leave for her job at MGM resorts.

We met Martha in March of 2008 and to this day she cannot contain herself when she shares about how God

“Today

has provided for her and her children. With the blessing of Compassion Coalition she was able to set aside the money she saved on household items to pay utility bills, and pay off other debts. She believes that her diligence in regards to her fi nances accelerated her approval with Habitat for Humanity. I have left out all the bumps in the road that rose up to meet Martha in this journey, even in those she still speaks over her own life “I am blessed.” Most recently as she shared about the upcoming move into her newly built home she reminded me “all of this is from the Lord.” I believe she means all, good and less than good and I say I am blessed, I am blessed.

the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and held (in the Western Church) between March 21 and April 25, on the fi rst Sunday after the fi rst full moon following the northern spring equinox. the period in which this occurs, esp. the weekend from Good Friday to Easter Monday. A great time to be a kid at The Dream Center of Las Vegas!

Billed as “The World’s Greatest Easter Candy Hunt”, the Easter celebration scheduled for April 11th, 2009 will be one of our most exciting outreaches of this year. Historically attended by hundreds of children in the downtown area of Las Vegas near Washington and G Street, this year’s Candy Hunt promises to be one of the best ever. The Candy Hunt is targeted at children ages toddlers through 6th grade, and is open to the public. Decker Elementary SchoolAppreciation LetterDecember 10, 2008

The International Church of Las Vegas South Gate has been instrumental

in assisting both Decker students and our community. Their annual back-to-

school fair has been a true success for the community and provided Decker

students with backpacks and school supplies which enable them to begin

their school year ready to learn. Without this support, our students would

defi nitely be at a disadvantage! International Church of Las Vegas always

responds to our requests and many times, they offer support without ever

being called. The collection of monetary donations has provided many

school breakfasts and lunches for students that otherwise would not be

able to pay for their meals. Without reservation, we have been able to refer

families to their church for assistance. They have been a strong presence

in our community, providing clothing, meals, and household supplies to

families in need. We could never begin to express our gratitude for the

services and assistance they provide. We are fortunate to have International

Church of Las Vegas South Gate in our school community.

“Life without

God is like a

Bored? Question... are you bored? Do you wake up and sometimes wonder how you will be

able to bring some excitement into your life? If so, I don’t think you’re alone. Back in the day folks fi lled the hours with now

forgotten things like ‘the outdoors’ and a real novel

concept called a ‘book’. But now we have 5000+ channels of comedy-animal planet-discovery-food-home shopping-MTV-you can learn Japanese in 30 days type stuff going on. If that’s not enough, you can pretty much enfold hours of entertainment with compelling text message sessions that go like this: ?4U SUP? WRUD? NMU GG LOL L8. Or...you can spend hours on Facebook while also checking your MySpace while downloading tunes. Like I asked... are you bored? Maybe that’s why the smash hit TV show 24 is now in its 7th season? Watching Jack Bauer and company throw down terrorists and save the nation seems to never get old - and it seems to be the way a lot of people spice up their lives. And of course there’s nothing wrong with

“God has

made us for a

purpose and by

with God can

we achieve that

purpose.”

that. Unless of course you are sitting on the sidelines bogged down in a swamp of self entertainment when you actually should be carrying out one of your callings in life.

What calling? I am so glad you asked! Our lives fi nd meaning only in relationship with our Creator Jesus Christ. We are created with a purpose and only God knows that purpose. We also do not all have the same purpose. We are all different and special. Life without God is like a padlock with no key. God has made us for a purpose and by working together with God can we achieve that purpose. You see, before you were even a baby, God knew you and what you would become. God intimately knows us. He knows our thoughts, words, and deeds.

God planned all your days, all your life, before you were ever even born. He had a plan for you before you even existed. Wow! Now, don’t you think that life should be far from boring? Come on get plugged into to God. He’ll take you on a trip of a life time! He can show you your destiny.

ICA Celebrates 10 YearsInternational Christian Academy (ICA) will be

celebrating 10 years of developing the mind, the heart,

and the spirit of students from throughout the Las

Vegas Valley in June 2009. A school that would provide

both educational excellence and spiritual growth was

the vision that Pastor Goulet charged the School Task

Force with in 1998. The school opened

September of 1999 with the mission

of providing a traditional, family

focused school that would impact

each student academically, physically,

relationally, and spiritually.

ICA provides an outreach to all

the families of our valley with a

program that is ethically diverse,

academically challenging, keyed to

growing student’s relational skills, and

establishing the foundation of their

character, a relationship with our Lord,

Jesus Christ. ICA has been blessed

with a strong base of wonderful

families who want a school that works

to include them in every aspect of

their child’s development.

Students who have attended ICA,

for one year or nine years, our fi rst group completed

kindergarten through 8th, graduated June 2008, leave

with a clear direction for their life and a Christian world-

view that will serve as a compass to help them navigate

through the decisions and choices that are in their future.

R. Mekus

2020 vision

Establishing 1000 Internet Churches More than just a vision to serve our local community, we have been called and chosen, as a congregation, to touch the nations of our world. The 20/20 Vision of ICLV is to establish 2000 churches by the year 2020. This is not only a vision, but a strategy to bring healing and hope to people of every language, infl uence and descent. What better way to see this vision come to pass, in such a short amount of time, than to bring Pastor Sergio Scataglini (see bio below) on staff here at ICLV. Pastor Sergio has been ministering on the internet for years and his passion is to see the advance of the kingdom on the internet by helping ICLV to plant 1,000 internet churches and see this vision fulfi lled.

We believe that by providing training to potential “cyber” pastors and evangelists, we will surely witness this vision fulfi lled, by the year 2020. Each geo-virtual church will have its own vision, pastor, and online community of believers. Through web casting, we can train and coach each pastor, as they plant their congregations. We can potentially reach hundreds of thousands of people hungry for God’s Word through the internet. There are no geographical limitations, by ministering this way.

Not only will lives be changed and transformed through the anointed preaching of Pastor Sergio, but through the thousands of leaders who will be raised up to pastor and disciple these internet churches. With this new strategy and technology, there seems little excuse now for God’s people to fulfi ll Jesus’ call to action found in Matthew 28: “. . .All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age.” Amen.

If missions sound exciting to you and you are wondering how to get involved, here are a few ways:

(1) Begin to intercede for our mission teams. Your prayers can make an eternal difference.

(2) Consider fasting food or entertainment to see breakthrough for people in other countries. There is so much joy knowing that our fasting can bring healing, restoration and impartation, even halfway around the world.

(3) Give generously to support this unprecedented mission. Your giving not only changes the lives of slum children, orphans and Bible college students, but it will help us equip cyber leaders to reach the nations. Through your giving, you can be a partner with us, as if you were the one being sent.

Please feel free to contact the Mission’s Department if you have any questions. Tina Ana at 702-673-4711 or [email protected]
