Well boys the time has come when the National Radio Cl.ub w i l l . have t o increase i t s annual. dues from $2.00 t o $2.50 a year. The reasons a r e s i m - p le and here they a r e , Iblimeograph Pager has increased 50% i n price; The stenci1.s have increased 172% i n pr ice , Envel.opes have increased 75% i n pr ice and Mimeograph Ink increased 25% i n price, These increases a r e of course the di f ference i n pr ice from 1.940 t o 1946.

It shou1.d be remembered t h a t the National. Radio Club i s the only Cl.ub t h a t issued i t s regular quota of bul.l.etins throughout the War period. And i s today the ONLY DX CLUB issuing weekly bul.l.etins during the DX Season. Your c1.ub issues 34 bul.letins each ful.1 year whereas the other cl.ubs is- sue ONLY 1q bul.1.etins a year. Yet t h e i r Dues a re a t $2.00 per year , So from the above information i t i s hoped tha t al.1 of you can understand vjhy t h i s increase. You have been ge t t ing near1.y TWICE the number of bul-

, 1.etins per year from the NRC a s has anyone el.se from the other Cl.ubs he iber, T i s pr ice increase viil.1 -h - - - - - - - - - - - - to e f f e c t January 25 1.947.

1 LONG WAVE

I n the l.ast i s sue of our bul.l,etin i t was tal-ked about having some Long Wave info inser ted , It seems tha t t h i s par t of the band i s heard by only a very few and t h a t only a very few have receivers t h a t a r e eI.igibl-e t o tune here. My contention i s t h a t why do subjects such a s t h i s be harped cn. This was voted to be a BCB C1.ub and from comments i s s a t i s f ac to ry to the very great majority. I a t one time had a receiver t h a t wou1.d tune t h i s l.ong wave band and although I l i s t ened and Listened I f a i l e d t o ge t even a t r ace of anything but the weather s t a t i ons and Air-port beams, I

.., %do agree t h a t on thc East Coast other reception i s possible, but then t o a I.ong antenna has t o be used and how many of us 2re .in a posi t ion t o be erect ing antennas of t h a t kind. It i s then suggested t h a t any of you who a r e in te res ted drop a card t o your Board Chairman, Dick Cooper 956 O r r Ave., Kittanning, Penn,

Now regarding the so cal led i l l e g a l s t a t i ons on the a i r and heard by our members. Yes Lefty has taken s teps t o omit such items from members reports . This i s within h i s r i g h t s a s Edi tor , However a f t e r reading the comment from a few members on t h i s , what say t h a t the NRC publish such ca1.l.s and i f i n the opinion of the Editor , he bel.icves i t t o bc an il- 1,egal. s t a t ion , underl.ine such information and bring i t t o the a t t en t ion of the F.C.C. I t might help them t o a r r e s t and convict the operator of such a s ta t ion . And if so, Your EXEC SEC hopes t ha t the F,C.C. gives them the 1.imit of punishment f o r i n my opinion and being a Law enforcement o f f i c e r myself, I bc1,ievz tha t the v io la t ion of any l.aw shows a disregard f o r 31.1 laws. I a l so bel ieve t h a t anyone hearing such a s t a t i o n shou1.d do al-I. i n h i s power t o he1.p the proper au tho r i t i e s t race i t damn and help expose operators of such s ta t ions . They ce r t a in ly a r e no help t o anyone,

I would a l so l.ike t o ta1.k a l . i t t l c on conments m ~ d c by a few members regarding information t h a t they bel ieve shou3.d be pub1.ished i n the bu1.- I-etin. I t has been said t h a t tht: NRC does not publish s t z t i o n addresses. I have f a i l e d t o have any repor t of reception returned t o me because 1 hud no s t a t i o n address on i t o ther than the S ta t ions Ca1.7. and the City

There i s n big var ie ty of s igners from the President of a s t a t i o n t o ?n Operutor. Yct t h i s rcpor t was z d d r ~ s s e d t o the Chief Eagineer because i t vr'~s thought t ha t h t would be the party most in te res ted i n t h i s repor t . Now under thd above circumstances, and i f the came cad s t r e e t addrsss msant anything, how come the Sta t ion Manager in anocher c i t y answered t h i s repor t , It cer ta in iy w ~ ~ s n t the U.d, Mail 's dnings.
