The RCC Music Department e RCC Music Department offers a variety of introductory classes as well as courses that prepare students for transfer to a four-year music program. Community members who enjoy music performance or students interested in musical careers are welcome to enroll in classes. Chamber Orchestra MUP142 Open to students and community members who play orchestral string, woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments. Presents standard orchestral literature and light popular classics. Rehearsals held 6:30-8:20 p.m. Wednesdays in Grants Pass. Monday rehearsal in Medford 7-8:50 p.m. Chorus MUS220 Open to students and community members who enjoy studying and performing choral music. People of all ages bring their energy and experience to the chorus, which focuses on classics, jazz, Broadway, contemporary, and world music. Musical ability and reading skills recommended. e Grants Pass chorus rehearses 6:30-8:20 p.m. Mondays; Kerby chorus rehearses 7-8:50 Tuesdays in the Illinois Valley; and the Medford chorus rehearses 6-7:50 p.m. Tuesday. Concert Band MUP102 Open to students and community members of all ages. e ensemble plays a variety of standard concert band literature and performs several concerts during the school year. Prerequisites include the ability to read music, approximately two years playing experience, ownership of a brass or woodwind instrument, and a desire to have fun playing music with others. e Grants Pass band rehearses 7-8:50 p.m. Monday at North Middle School. Jazz Ensemble MUP105 Open to students and community members who play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, keyboard, percussion, bass and lead guitar. Music reading skills required. Previously employed by Carnival Corporation’s subsidiaries, Holland America Line and Princess Cruise Lines, Greenley has a variety of performance experience spanning the globe and has performed with many musical greats. Tessa Brinckman An active performer in the U.S. and abroad, Tessa Brinckman teaches flute and piano at RCC, offering a foundation for excellence in playing classical, contemporary, non-western, or jazz music. She has a background in choral directing and also teaches private piano lessons and vocal students. She has a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from San Francisco State University, and a master’s in teaching music from Portland State. She taught and worked under various choir conductors and performed with many different music groups in Portland. Gary Kroll Kroll conducts the RCC Orchestra. A professional choir and orchestra conductor for 20 years, he also teaches violin, viola, cello and guitar, plays in the Rogue Valley Symphony’s first violin section, and coaches strings for the Southern Oregon Youth Symphony. He taught strings in the Medford 549C School District and continues with occasional students from the district’s Logos Charter School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona Bible College, a BA in music from Arizona State University, and a Master of Church Music from Southwestern Southern Baptist eological Seminary. Ted Dollarhide, Ph.D. Composer, conductor, educator and RCC Music Department chair, Dollarhide joined the college in 2008. He also serves on the Rogue Valley Symphony Board of Directors. His master’s and doctorate degrees in music composition were earned at the University of Michigan. He is the recipient of many awards including a Fulbright Fellowship to Paris, France, BMI Composition Award, Tanglewood Scholar, and he was a finalist for a Kennedy Center- Friedheim Award. His 30 years of teaching experience include eight years in Australia and two in Korea. Jon Bennett Bennett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Southern Oregon University and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Oregon. He has been a music educator for the Glendale School District, Grants Pass School District, and the South Umpqua School District. He currently teaches math at Coffenberry Middle School in Myrtle Creek. He has studied voice, piano, and French horn and has performed in many musical groups over the years. He has been director of the RCC Concert Band since 2005.

Kelly MoodieMoodie is a music specialist and has taught Music in World Cultures at RCC for several years. A full-time teacher with Grants Pass School District 7 for the past 25 years, she directs three musical shows per school year with children in first through fifth grades. She also serves as a vocal director for local theater companies and

directs the Grants Pass Honors Choir.Eric von RadicsEric von Radics teaches guitar classes, including rock and blues, as well as songwriting, recording and engineering techniques. He has toured with numerous bands and formerly owned MusicHead in Medford. He also gives private lessons.

Dr. Lauren Ngaryu RubinDr. Lauren Nagaryu Rubin has a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from Monash University and a Master’s degree in Music Technology from Indiana University/Purdue University. She has designed multiple online classes for the RCC Music Department, and teaches a variety of classes including History of Rock, Jazz, World Music, Film

Music, Music Theory and Aural Skills. She plays the Japanese shakuhachi flute, the Australian aboriginal didjeridu, the tabla drums of North India, and various other hand drums.

Sean McKeeSean McKee is a music educator with 20 years of public school teaching experience and directs the choir in Grants Pass. He holds Master of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees from California State University, Long Beach, where he was awarded the Carpenter Vocal Music Scholarship in 1986. He currently teaches vocal and instrumental music at Illinois Valley High School and Lorna Byrne Middle School in Cave Junction. He has held teaching assignments that have included Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate coursework. McKee is proficient in many wind instruments as well as voice and piano and has been a private instructor for over 25 years. He has appeared as a soloist, ensemble member, conductor, and clinician

throughout California, and has performed throughout the world. He has taught at Great Northwest Music in Grants Pass, been head counselor for the Britt Institute’s String Quartet Academy for three years, and is a member of the Jefferson Baroque Orchestra. He was awarded the American Legion Teacher of the Year Award for Oregon in 2009.

Bryan JeffsBryan Jeffs received bachelors degrees in music performance and education from Southern Oregon University and a master’s in percussion performance from California State University, Sacramento. At RCC, he teaches percussion, hand drumming, Music of World Cultures and History of Rock and Roll. He also serves as a member of the adjunct faculty at SOU, where he is assistant director of the percussion ensemble and performs with the percussion trio, Compás. He is a Remo educational artist.

Christine WilliamsChristine Williams has spent her career crossing the bridge between music and theater. A classically trained soprano and professional actor, she has performed in everything from plays, musicals, cabaret, opera, and choral ensembles to jazz, folk, contemporary chamber music, and performance art in regional theaters and concert venues across the country

and around the world, including many seasons at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She is a narrator of audio books and is on the voice faculty at Southern Oregon University.
