Read Well 3 gives students a clear path to reading comprehension, mastery and academic success—and literacy for life.
The Read Well K-2 series uses a strategic blend of small-group and whole-class instruction to serve the needs of each individual child—avoiding labels, such as special needs, struggling, advanced, or gifted. This visionary approach has produced exceptional results across the country.
Though the demands of the third-grade classroom differ in many ways from K-2, the newest grade level has maintained the series’ key instructional strategies:
• Differentiated small group instruction
• Parallel scope and sequence
• Multiple entry points and regrouping opportunities
• Flexible pacing plans
Read Well 3 has everything I need to teach third grade reading. It’s easy to implement, and the scope and sequence aligns directly to the Common Core State Standards. —Third Grade Teacher, New York
Read Well 3 is the next level in the acclaimed Read Well series – providing the critical “bridge” from the focus on foundational reading skills in grades K-2 to the escalating emphasis on comprehension and academic vocabulary found in grade three and beyond.
Built on the same research base as Read Well K-2, Read Well 3 was written for the Common Core State Standards and has been pilot tested in numerous classrooms across the country. Continuing Read Well instruction into the third grade will produce independent readers who demonstrate deep levels of comprehension.
As recommended in the CCSS, Read Well 3 students read more high-quality text within a robust range of genres. Lessons frequently include rereadings of passages, comparisons of multiple text, and in depth study of vocabulary. In addition, students participate regularly in opinion and narrative writing experiences.
