Global Vice President, The Registry Collection program Backpacking is one of my many passions. I am fortunate to be part of a group of likeminded dads who plan all year, train for months and then hike for one week annually in some of the most beautiful parts of the United States. Over the past 10 years, our group has trekked everywhere from Alaska to the Appalachian – each trip just as enjoyable and unique as the next. In between these logistically challenging backpacking events we all do hikes of varying lengths and difficulty with Boy Scouts or our families, but always with the hope of experiencing new places. It’s a great way to see our country or any country you live in for that matter. Slowing down to truly take in all the nature around you is one of life’s rewards. is past September our group of eight spent a week in Wyoming on the Wind River Range at 10,000 feet. It was quite possibly the most beautiful scenery I’ve seen in the continental U.S. and the weather was perfect until a surprise snow storm forced us to scramble off the mountain early. With our extra free days we played tourists in nearby Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park, ending our trip with a visit to the fabulous Teton Club in Teton Village, a resort affiliated with The Registry Collection. It wasn’t just because our group had been sleeping on the ground and eating freeze-dried food for five days that we were excited to spend one night at this paradise resort in the mountains. It was truly amazing. Located right on the lift line at the base of this world-class ski resort makes it a prime position during ski season. But its location, breathtaking views, accommodations and service make it a four- season destination. I spoke with both Teton Club owners and The Registry Collection members on their vacation exchange in the lobby lounge and neither couple could think of a more perfect spot from which to base in the fall season. Speaking of service, I spent some time with Terry Moon, the resort concierge, who helped us with dinner suggestions. His is an amazing story. He is now going to college to become a big animal vet, which is in high demand out there. But prior to that he was a professional roller derby athlete! If a week of long hikes in the mountains of Wyoming isn’t for you and a day of hiking or biking is more your pleasure, then you owe it to yourself to spend a week in the Texas Hill County. Between San Antonio, Austin and points due west, you can find some of the most beautiful rolling hills in the U.S. And a great place to base out of is one of our newest affiliated resorts - Stablewood Springs in Hunt. With winter high temperatures in the low 60’s (°Fahrenheit), it is ideal weather to spend active days outside. Day trips to nearby Austin with its amazing music scene will create a memorable vacation. Most of us are preparing for shorter and cooler days ahead and what always promises to be a busy holiday season. We all have our to-do list before year’s end and plans to make for 2014. But I challenge you to take some time to plan a visit to one of your country’s national or regional parks to experience a change of pace from our busy lives. Whether you carry a 50-pound backpack or a picnic basket doesn’t matter. It’s spending time with your friends and family outside, surrounded by nature in crisp, clear air that will reset your compass for the year ahead. Tips from a Consultant

The Registry Collection properties are all unique and provide a wide variety of vacation experiences for our members. We have some resorts with a large ownership base and multiple locations such as e VIDA Group consisting of e Grand Mayan, e Grand Bliss and e Grand Luxxe. ese are found at Mexico’s most highly sought-after destinations like Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and the Rivera Maya. ey have expansive facilities, are family-oriented, and because we have so many members owning at the group’s properties they are more available for exchange than smaller resorts.

Others, like e Edgartown Residence Club on Martha’s Vineyard or Le Bear Luxury Residential Club Resort in Glen Arbor, Michigan, are smaller, more intimate resorts with far fewer accommodations but we do sometimes get matches for those who enjoy o -peak travel times. We encourage our members to consider great vacations other than the traditional beach and ski locations. e Owners Club at the Homestead in Hotsprings, Virginia. and e Owners Club at Barton Creek near Austin, Texas are two such outstanding options in beautiful locales with many fun activities for the entire family.

We also have all-inclusive properties for those who appreciate pampered service. All-inclusive exchange options have concierge services, ne dining, and organized activities to make for a truly hassle-free and relaxing vacation for everyone in the family.

Please take the time to read our resort pro les and view the photos that are found on our website. You can also explore our many properties labeled Future Destination Properties and dream about the vacation you can enjoy in the future. One note regarding Future Destination Properties - we are not able to waitlist for those locations until they actually are ready to accept guests, and we are not able to predict with absolute certainty when they will open. We appreciate your patience, and certainly understand your excitement about visiting the amazing resorts that may open soon!

Happy travels!Randy — Reservation Consultant The Registry Collection Program
