Fatherhood derives its source from God who created the heavens and the earth from a fatherhood point of view of love and left His imprint on every aspect of creation. Genesis 1:26-28 says” God said Let us create man in our image and likeness...male and female he created them...God

Here the foundation for the family system was established. Fatherhood did not originate from the earth neither did it begin with time or human history, it is from the kingdom of God’s system which was extended to the earth at the creation.

Ephesians 3:14-15 helps understand that this system had already been in existence. “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named”. The nature of God encompasses fatherhood, love and relationship. 1 John 4:16 said, “God is Love” and he created everything in the expression and outworking of his fatherly love and relationship”.

After creation when man disobeyed and sinned, he was separated from God, but because of God’s fatherly love, He put together a reconciliation plan to bring man back to Himself. Jesus Christ

through the blood of Jesus Christ and be restored back to God.

Since earthly fathers derive their fatherhood from God - the heavenly father;; it is only to be ex-pected that they can only function and replicate Him to the degree to which they know Him. Jesus revealed the nature of God being the expressed image and the replica of God and, Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us that “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds”

the relationship has bestowed upon us. As we live by and demonstrate them towards our children and family, we are pointing our loved ones towards God, which eventually will help them in forming a lasting relationship with Him.

The age-old question of “who am I” and “whose child am I?” is always a major source of iden-tity crises both spiritually and psychologically. Some people travel to the other side of the world to locate and identify their ‘root’. As a father, one of the best gifts you can give your children is

or appreciated by their father. 1 John 3:1 says “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath

sonship in God when He said in John 8:28 “Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself;; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”

As far as every child is concerned, there is nobody greater, stronger or smarter than his father. -

ing us. Children will be as secured in themselves and in their father to the degree to which he support, encourage, and defend them. In the same way, our heavenly father said to us in Luke

God has given the angels charge to guide us so that we do not dash our foot against the stone and has promised to neither leave nor forsake us.

The image of fatherhood is derived from the fatherly characteristic of God the Heavenly father. To become a successful father you must look up to the source of fatherhood to demonstrate a fatherly character. Attributes of God as a Father:God is Love - God’s love to His children is the most powerful of His attributes. The dem-onstration of all other attributes and characters of God emanate from His deep love for His chil-dren. Zechariah 2:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts;; after the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. Earthly fathers should emulate the same attitude and treat their children as the “apple of their eyes”

God – The Provider - Fathers are meant to provide for the needs of their household just as God provide for all our need and will not allow His children to suffer any lack.1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath

God - The Redeemer - To redeem means to buy back or pay the price for something. After sin separated man from God, He set in place a way back for man to enjoy the estranged relationship

for the sake of those you love. Titus 2:14 “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Continued on page 15

Naturally, every child has a father and in the same vein, every spiritual child must have a spiritual father.

one provides guidance and direction for the other. In the book, “Exploits in Ministry”, Bishop David Oyedepo said, “God has arranged men on our paths, designed to bring out the best in us. He has placed people ahead of you that are to help you take the most appropriate steps in life. No man is an island unto himself. Every great leader is an offspring of another.

Hebrews 6:12 says “That ye be not slotful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”. cases, over time, the mentee will start to display the characteristics or traits of their mentor. In the Bible, this relationship of spiritual father and son was seen in the lives of: Jethro and Moses;; Eli and Samuel;; Mordeccai and Esther;; Elijah and Elisha;; Paul and Timothy.

Spiritual fatherhoodship can be likened to a lineage from which a person originates. Spiritual fathers carry spiritual deposits that has to be released over their spiritual son or daughter in order to set them on

learning from their mistakes. “Standing on the shoulders of giants help you see further and achieve

teaching the spiritual child how to work smarter instead or working harder.

Spiritual fatherhood bridges the gap between the past and the present for their children assuring them of

the case of Elijah and Elisha. Spiritual fatherhood is not a title but a function and this fact is sometimes lost on some fathers who see their role as that of a “boss” rather than a mentor.

In modern day charismatic pentecostal movement, it is not uncommon to hear men and women of God make reference to their spiritual heritage. For example, Bishop David Oyedepo regards Kenneth E. Hagin, T.L Osbourne, Smith Wigglesworth, Kenneth Copeland and Pastor Enoch Adeboye as his spiri-tual mentors and fatherhood. Pastor Benny Hinn regards Kathrine Khuma as his spiritual mentor and many others.Looking at these men’s life and ministries, it is very clear that the people they regard as their spiritual heritage passed down the baton to them - The Replica - Created in His Image

The same creative power and wisdom God used in creating the earth in mankind. Whatever is missing or not functioning in your life as a father can be created in the same way as God created the heaven and the earth.
