Looking Ahead...
Happy New Year! I am excited to have
found a new bible study to begin the new year.
It will be a wonderful follow-up to our last study on
the Jewishness of Jesus. The new study is Short Stories
by Jesus, The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial
Rabbi. In this study we will
look at several parables of Jesus
from the perspective of First
Century Judaism. Our author,
Amy-Jill Lavine, is the
University Professor of New
Testament and Jewish Studies at
Vanderbilt Divinity School.
This New Testament scholar is a
Jewish Rabbi. I have ordered a
DVD to view a video of
Professor Lavine’s insights at
the beginning of each class.
She says the stories of Jesus are
wonderful, inspirational and provocative. Join me January
8th at 10:00 in the Wellness Center Conference Room for a
new look at some familiar scriptures.
Blessings,
