• Born on 7th of October 1952 in Leningrad, U.S.S.R.

• Grew up with both parents- Mother was a house wife- Father was a soldier, and later a foreman

Early Schooling

• From 1960-1968: Putin attended primary school #193

• Later moved to High School #281• Completed school in 1970

University Education

• Studied at Leningrad State University- Majoring in Law• Got his degree in 1975

KGB• After attaining degree, Putin was sent to KGB

School #1 in Moscow- Trained to become an intelligence officer- Later worked as a counter-intelligence officer- Worked at State Security Agency

During and After KGB

• Went back to Leningrad State University- Assisted rector for department of International

Relations- Worked on PHD Thesis

Start of Political Career

• 1999: Putin is appointed Prime Minister of the Russian Federation

- Worked under President Boris Yeltsin

Presidency #1

• 2000: Was proposed to act as President of Russia after resignation of Yeltsin

- Was elected 2 terms as President

After Presidency

• Lost Presidential election in 2008- Dmitry Medvedev New President of Russia• Medvedev appoints Putin as Prime Minister

Presidency #2

• 2012: Re-elected, again, as President• Still serving today as President of the Russian

Federation
