MARCH IS LITERACY MONTH

MARCH 1ST, 2017:

President Cary Fleisher opened today’s meeting by asking us to silence our cell phones. Our

Assistant District Governor Mike Seidner also joined us to honor Frank Clark.

Bob Powers, Tom Post and Barbara Schupeltz from the Rotary Club of Hatboro were

Eric Faddis repaid Cary Fleisher for loaning him $1 last week. The Eric told the story

about Frank Clark. Years ago, Eric wore all sort of wild, colorful ties (mostly from the

Tabasco clothing store – yes the same Tabasco as you put on food). Frank always

wanted to look closely at the tie and would give his approval. One day near the

Christmas season, Frank came in dressed to the “T”s. He was sporting a great

Christmas Tie showing Santa in front of Philadelphia’s City Hall. Eric said that Frank’s

tie was really great. Franks said, “Do you really like it?” The answer was “Yes.” Franks

said, “Good, I wore it here today to give to you,” and proceed to take it off and give to

Eric. Eric wore said tie today.

Joe Murphy said that his grandson received a fellowship in clinical Psychology.

Bill McAuliffe deposited $9 for his 90th, which we celebrated last week. His birthday

was on the 27th.

Geff Ries was happy to report that he went skiing last weekend with his 5 ½ year old

grandson at Elk Mounting and grandson beat Geff down the slope.

Bob King said that the happiest day of his mother’s life happened 62 years ago – Bob

was born. I want to talk to her about that, Bob. Also March 1 is the 27th anniversary of

Bob’s joining the Rotary Club of Ambler. He deposited $27, not $62. Hmmm.

President Cary said that he received word that Dick Target has been diagnosed with Polymyalgia

Rheumatica. He’s in the early stages of treatment. Calls certainly are welcomed.

DR. FRANK CLARK Celebrating 100 years. Our District Governor, Linda Young, Assistant District

Governor, Mike Seidner and guests from the Hatboro RC along with our Club members sang “Happy

Birthday” to Frank. He received a couple shirts noting his age.

a letter acknowledging Franks tenure and contributions to Rotary.

We heard about the cost of living in 1917, about his friendships and involvement in the Rotary Club of

Hatboro, his medical training and practice. He were told of his military career. Frank has belonged to

five separate clubs: Hatboro – Past President, Jenkintown, A Club in Guiana, Mt. Pocono and Ambler

since 1992

50/50:

Lamont Satterly drew the white tee and received a free lunch. There were 43 white tees and 1

red tee. Next week’s jackpot will begin at around $402.
