ELEMENTARY BAND Instruments Taught
Instruments available to learn are flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, baritone,
and bells/percussion.
Performances
Students will prepare for and participate in four events throughout the school year.

Hummingbird Music Camp (field trip) in late April/early May

The cost for this program is $80 per school year which covers classroom materials,
T-Shirts, and the Hummingbird Music Camp.
Registration & payment is due no later than Friday, September 16th. Please
mail your registration form and payment to the address below. Deposits are made
within 24 business hours of receiving your payment, and a receipt will be sent
home with your student. **If paying by check, please put the student’s first and last
name on the memo line.**
If you prefer to drop off your payment, please contact Suzanne at (505) 962-1353 to
schedule a time when someone will be available to take your payment.

BAND
INSTRUMENT RENTALS It is strongly suggested that you rent an instrument (rather than buy) during
the first year. Sometimes even a family member has an instrument tucked
away waiting for just the right person to play it!
Some instruments can come in many sizes to accommodate the size of each
child. Orchestra teachers will size students during the first week of classes.
Many times, purchases from the Internet, pawn shops, or boxed instruments
available at large discount chain stores can be problematic. Many of these
instruments are poorly constructed and have to be modified to be playable
(often at a greater cost than the original purchase price).
The sources below sell and/or rent instruments that are well constructed.
Price ranges vary. Quality instruments will have a more pleasant sound and
are easier to play.
RRPS Fine Arts Department has a very limited number of instruments to rent.

INSTRUMENT RENTALS RRPS has a very limited number of instruments for both band
and orchestra that can be rented for the school year.
***If you plan on attending one of these rental nights,
please bring your registration form & payment with you rather
than mailing it in.***
In order to rent from RRPS, we must have your completed reg-
istration form and at least half of the $80.00 yearly registra-
tion fee on or before rental night.
All RRPS rentals require a separate rental contract and rental
fee of $40.00 for the year to be collected at time of rental.
Rental instruments cannot leave the Fine Arts office without
payment in full of the rental fee.
This year’s Instrument Rental Night(s) will be held at the
District Fine Arts Office (see address and location below)
from 6:00 - 7:30 pm on the following dates:
Band - Tuesday, August 30th, 2016
Orchestra - Wednesday, August 31st, 2016
Any remaining instruments will be available to rent through-
out the school year during normal business hours.
