1.0 Our Vision

Achieving Together

Our community of schools treasures the contribution of every single member. We seek to reflect the love of God and humanity within our Christian Values.

We work to become the best we can in everything we do, serving others within a supportive, safe and happy family environment.

Mark 12 V 28-31

Jesus answered, “The most important is, „Hear, O Israel: The Lord

our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and

with all your strength.‟ The second is this: „You shall love your

neighbour as yourself.‟ There is no other commandment greater

than these.”

Luke 10 V 26-28

How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord

your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all

your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbour as

yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do

this, and you will live.

2.0 From the Chair of Governors

Dear Applicant

Thank you for your interest in the Executive Headship at The Saints Federation

The Saints Federation is made up of three lovely schools, full of great children and all set in a beautiful part of Norfolk with good commuter

links from Norwich, Diss and Bury St Edmunds. It‟s a great place to live.

The schools all sit in the hub of each village they serve. All Saints and St Andrew‟s are in close proximity to Diss with Hapton being close

to Long Stratton.

The schools have a nurturing, supportive nature, often described as “family”. We work hard with our vision to achieve together and

become the best we can be in everything we do, serving others within a supportive, safe and happy family environment

We have great staff who are dedicated and experienced; they work as a team, sharing their enthusiasms and knowledge across all three

schools. Their commitment has been especially evident during the challenges of the pandemic, during which adaptability and

resourcefulness have been amazing.

The schools have a highly active and engaged Governing Board, who put a huge amount of energy into supporting the schools.

The Saints Federation is fun and a great place to teach, learn and live. We intend to keep it that way – and to keep working to make it

better still. All children deserve the best possible chance, whatever their background or abilities. We believe in promoting the development

of children in a rounded complete way; personally, socially and spiritually, as well as academically and we work closely with all

stakeholders to achieve this - we are always „Achieving Together‟.

If you think you can contribute to this and bring even more yourself then please do apply.

Best wishes

Oliver Pearson, Chair of Governors

3.0 About The Saints Federation

The Saints Federation is made up of three rural Church of England village schools – All Saints in Winfarthing,

Hapton, and St Andrew‟s in North Lopham. After a period of close Partnership, formal Federation followed in

2014. Since then, the Federation has moved to a single Board of Governors with one budget, but with separate

lines for each school, thereby preserving the uniqueness of each setting. Each school has retained its own uniform,

although school uniform policy is currently relaxed as part of current Covid-19 risk assessment.

Federating has provided staff with opportunities to share expertise, and subject leadership;

pupils have enjoyed a larger friendship pool; economies of scale have enabled increased

enrichment possibilities, e.g. visits by the Maasai Warriors helped all pupils to understand

Christianity as a global faith and a visit to a Gurdwara and to a Mosque helped the juniors

to appreciate other world faiths.

The schools have close links to the churches in their villages and hold Christian values at their core. The clergy

contribute to school life and Church members are welcome volunteers in each school. They have a nurturing

supportive nature which is much loved and valued by the pupils, parents and staff. Our children are happy and well

behaved.

The schools all serve children from Reception to Year 6. Mixed age classes enable each

child to work at his/her own pace.

All children deserve the best possible chance, whatever their background or abilities. We

believe in promoting the development of children in a rounded complete way; personally,

socially and spiritually, as well as academically and we work closely with all stakeholders

to achieve this - we are always „Achieving Together‟.

The schools have been consistently judged as Good by Ofsted and the current SIAMS reports also grade each school as Good.

The staff are experienced and dedicated, sharing their expertise.

They give many hours beyond their contracted time, supporting

after school clubs and activities, and organising expeditions and

events to enrich and extend the formal curriculum.

The children are enthusiastic, happy and well behaved, and love

to share in federation events and expeditions, with a larger group

of their peers.

The parents are friendly and supportive. PTA groups organise

fun events to provide many „extras‟ for all the children.

The governors are engaged, active and committed, and are

involved in the day to day life of the school.

3.1 Our Values

The Saints Federation recognises that each child is an individual; that all children are creative; that all children need to succeed in

achieving their potential. Therefore, The Saints Federation respects the individual needs of children; fosters a caring and creative

environment with Christian values; rich in learning opportunities; emphasising the spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional and

physical development of each child.

All schools have close links to the churches near their site and hold Christian values at their core. We work closely

with the local clergy and in normal times the schools would visit the church for collective worship monthly and for

festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Harvest. We display work in the church to develop the links further and

share our learning with the wider community. During the pandemic we have worked closely with the clergy and they

have provided an assortment of online clips for staff and children to share. We participate in a Federation

Celebration Assembly each Friday and are looking forward to inviting parents/carers back in to share in the success

of the children, both in school and in the activities they follow in their own time, in sports of all kinds, cub and

brownie badges etc. At St Andrew‟s we have visitors to share Open the Book sessions which the children love

seeing. The Federation supported the Waveney FoodBank and donated over 180 kilos of food items delivered in

October 2020, following our Harvest celebrations.

3.2 All Saints

All Saints in Winfarthing has 69 pupils on roll and 3 full time teachers, one being the senior teacher. Each class has at least one Teaching Assistant to support the learning of the children and there is a fantastic hall at the back of the building which gives the school a feeling of space.

There is also a comprehensive library which the children had a large part in designing.

The school serves children from Reception to Year 6.

Parents of the school help to fundraise through the HSA with activities such as a summer and Christmas fete and discos which are well attended by the local community. Money raised helps us to go on trips such as the pantomime and Framlingham Castle.

The school has been consistently judged as Good by Ofsted and the last inspection in May 2018 states „pupils behave extremely well in lessons, responding positively to their learning activities, which they find interesting and stimulating.‟ The current SIAMS reports also grades the school as Good.

3.3 Hapton

Hapton has 39 pupils on roll and 2 full time teachers, one being the senior teacher. Each class has at least one Teaching Assistant to support the learning of the children.

There is a spacious field at the back of the school that provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor learning.

We have a superb outdoor classroom and trim trail for children to play on.

The school serves children from Reception to Year 6. There are regular summer and Christmas fetes run by The Friends which are supported enormously by the community – we raise up to £1000 which is an incredible amount for a small school. This money is used to enrich the learning of the children and we have recently bought new books to enhance the library.

The school has been consistently judged as Good by Ofsted and the last inspection in December 2017 states „the curriculum is well designed and caters for

pupils‟ needs and aspirations. It is enriched by numerous trips and interesting visitors. For example, the older pupils visited the Sutton Hoo burial as part of their studies into the Anglo-Saxons‟. The current SIAMS reports also grades the school as Good.

3.4 St Andrew‟s

St Andrew‟s in North Lopham has 62 pupils on roll with 2 full time teachers and 2 part time teachers. The school is a Victorian building with extensions to the back and side of the building.

Each class has at least one Teaching Assistant to support the learning of the children. The school has lots

of outdoor space for the children to explore their environment. An outdoor classroom and sturdy PE equipment enhance outdoor learning. The school serves children from Reception to Year 6 and there is also an independently run preschool on site.

There are regular summer and Christmas fetes run by The FOSTA group which are held in the village hall and attract members of the local community. They also organise craft afternoon, discos and film nights for the children after school. The money is used to buy enrichment opportunities such as school trips, most recently to see The Lion King in London.

The school has been consistently judged as Good by Ofsted and the last inspection in July 2017 states „teaching is good

because teachers know each child well and plan for their individual needs. Pupils whom I spoke with were unanimous in their view that „Teachers don‟t allow you to be lazy. You always have to try your best.‟ The current SIAMS reports also grades the school as Good
