Upper Room Camp meeting Edition 2014 (www.molministry.com)

We are living today in the most solemn and significant time of all of this worlds history. We are living in the time of the final

generation– the time of the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary– the finishing work. Concerning this time we read, “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” Daniel 8:14. “In the typical system, which was a shadow of the sacrifice and priesthood of Christ, the cleansing of the sanctuary was

the last service performed by the high priest in the yearly round of ministration. It was the closing work of the atonement

--a removal or putting away of sin from Israel. It prefigured the closing work in the ministration of our High Priest in

heaven, in the removal or blotting out of the sins of His people, which are registered in the heavenly records. This service

involves a work of investigation, a work of judgment; and it immediately precedes the coming of Christ in the clouds of

heaven with power and great glory; for when He comes, every case has been decided. Says Jesus: ‘My reward is with Me, to

give every man according as his work shall be.’Revelation 22:12. It is this work of judgment, immediately preceding the sec-

ond advent, that is announced in the first angel's message of Revelation 14:7: ‘Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the

hour of His judgment is come.’” {GC 352.2}

The finishing work— which is the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary is the great reason why we have health reform and a

distinctive medical missionary work in this last movement of the remnant church. And it is the work of the heavenly sanctuary

in connection with the 2300 day prophecy that brought the sanitarium into existence and without the revival of true home-like

sanitariums the work will never be finished!

Well, somebody may ask , “don't we have modern hospitals all over the world...why would we need the return of home-like

sanitariums? Aren’t hospitals and sanitariums doing basically the same thing?” No, infinitely different. And don’t take my

word for it, notice the following clear statement from the pen of inspiration:

“The purpose of our health institutions is not first and foremost to be that of hospitals. The health institutions connected

with the closing work of the gospel in the earth stand for the great principles of the gospel in all its fullness.” {MM 28.1}

So, it is clear from the pen of inspiration that the purpose of a hospital and a sanitarium is very different.

Question: What is the purpose of a sanitarium that makes it so vastly different from a hospital? Answer: The three-fold mes-

sage of Revelation 14. The purpose of the Sanitarium is laid out in the three angels message of Revelation, the first of which

says, “Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come..” Rev. 14:7. “ The three angels of Revelation 14 are represented as flying in the midst of heaven, symbolizing the work of those who proclaim the first, second, and third angels' messages. All are linked together. The evidences of the abiding, everliving truth of these grand messages, that mean so much to the church, that have awakened such intense opposition from the religious world, are not extinct. Satan is constantly seeking to cast a shadow about these messages, so that the people of God shall not clearly discern their import, their time and place; but they live and are to exert their power upon our religious experience while time shall last. {6T 17.4} “The influence of these messages has been deepening and widening, setting in motion the springs of action in thousands of hearts, bringing into existence ...health institutions. All these are instrumentalities of God to co-

operate in the grand work represented by the first, second, and third angels, the work of warning the inhabitants of the world

that Christ is coming the second time with power and great glory. “ {6T 18.1}

Yes, There is a close and decided connection between the three angels messages and the sanitarium work! Is it clear to you

dear reader? If not , then we don’t truly understand our message. Oh, that heaven may anoint our eyes with the heavenly eye

salve that we may see as Jesus see’s and Work just as Jesus worked. Notice the following inspired statements which will help

to make it abundantly clear:

“‘I will instruct the ignorant and anoint with heavenly eyesalve the eyes of many who are now in spiritual dark-

ness. I will raise up agents who will carry out My will to prepare a people to stand before Me in the time of

the end. In many places that before this ought to have been provided with sanitariums and schools, I will estab-

lish My institutions, and these institutions will become educational centers for the training of workers." {CH

227.1}

“Our sanitariums have been established for the purpose of pre-

paring a people for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour.

Letter 284, 1906, pp. 2, 3. (To Dr. O. G. Place, August 29, 1906.)

{1MR 228.4}

As we study the plan of redemption as brought to light from the

sanctuary in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy we can see

clearly with eyes anointed by the Spirit of God that the Sanitarium

was established by God for preparing a people to stand true to Him

during the time of the investigative judgment and the cleansing of

the sanctuary.

“‘God's purpose in giving the third angel's message to the world is to prepare a people to stand true to Him

during the investigative judgment. This is the purpose for which we establish and maintain our publishing

houses, our schools, our sanitariums, hygienic restaurants, treatment rooms, and food factories. This is our pur-

pose in carrying forward every line of work in the cause." {1MR 228.2}

Now, we can see by the above statement that God will use many agencies and institutions for preparing a people to

stand true to Him when Judgment passes from the dead to the living at the passing of the Sunday law (please see our

recent DVD series “who shall be able to stand “ for thorough understanding of this issue from the Bible and Spirit

of Prophecy) ; but of all His agencies and institutions which will be the most important? I think this is a very

good question and deserves an inspired answer but first let me tell you plainly so that we are clear and then

we will read it in inspiration? It is our health institutions-our sanitariums! Let us turn to the spirit of prophecy to

check our answer:

“Christ is the one to be revealed in all the institutions connected with the closing work, but none of them can

do it so fully as the health institution where the sick and suffering come for relief and deliverance from both

physical and spiritual ailment. Many of these need, like the paralytic of old, the forgiveness of sin the first thing, and

they need to learn how to "go, and sin no more." ... “If a sanitarium connected with this closing message fails to

lift up Christ and the principles of the gospel as developed in the third angel's message, it fails in its most im-

portant feature, and contradicts the very object of its existence.--R.H., Oct. 29, 1914.” {MM 27.4, 28.1}

What we just read is tremendous. We found from inspiration that “All the institutions” of God are to do a mighty work

(schools, publishing houses, hygienic restaurants, food factories etc.) , “but none of them can do it so fully” as the sanitarium.

“We are to have clear spiritual discernment, else we shall fail of understanding the opening providences of God that are prepar-

ing the way for us to enlighten the world. The great crisis is just before us. Now is the time for us to sound the warning

message, by the agencies that God has given us for this purpose. Let us remember that one most important agency is our

medical missionary work. Never are we to lose sight of the great object for which our sanitariums are established-

Page 3: The Sanitarium and Finishing the work

“-the advancement of God's closing work in the earth. {RH, June 21, 1906 par. 22} . {CH 554.2}

“We are living in the last days. The end of all things is at hand. The signs foretold by Christ are fast fulfilling. There are

stormy times before us, but let us not utter one word of unbelief or discouragement. ... May the Lord increase our faith and help

us to see that He desires us all to become acquainted with His ministry of healing and with the mercy seat. He desires the

light of His grace to shine forth from many places. {CH 392.1}

“Henceforth medical missionary work is to be carried forward with an earnestness with which it has never yet been carried.

This work is the door through which the truth is to find entrance to the large cities, and sanitariums are to be established

in many places. {CH 392.2}

Even before we have clearly defined and answered the question “what is a sanitarium”; If you have prayerfully and carefully

studied the inspired references up to this point, it should be very clear thus far that the Sanitarium is one of the most important

agencies and institutions of all the varied types of institutions that will be used by God in the finishing work in this last genera-

tion. In fact as we shall see, all of the weapons of hell, within and without this church (in the entire universe) has been aimed

and focused on destroying the true sanitarium and it’s work. Just as Satan tried to destroy Jesus, the Great Medical Missionary

and His sanitarium work at His first coming (to prevent Jesus from finishing the work in the outer court); so Satan is now try-

ing as we approach His second coming to again destroy the sanitarium and medical missionary work of this last hour to prevent

the work of Jesus from being finished in the most holy place—the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary (more on this later).

“ Sanitarium work is one of the most successful means of reaching all classes of people... Christ is no longer in this world

in person, to go through our cities and towns and villages, healing the sick; but He has commissioned us to carry forward

the medical missionary work that He began. In this work we are to do our very best. Institutions for the care of the sick are

to be established where men and women suffering from disease may be placed under the care of God-fearing physicians and

nurses and be treated without drugs. {CH 392.3, 393.1}

“The Commander of heaven was assailed by the tempter. He had no clear, unobstructed passage through the world. He was not

left free and without hindrance to win to his kingdom the souls of men by his gracious mercy and loving-kindness. From the

time that he was a helpless babe in Bethlehem, when the agencies of hell sought to destroy him in his infancy through the

jealousy of Herod, until he came to Calvary's cross, he was continually assailed by the evil one. In the councils of Satan it

was determined that he must be overcome. No human being had come into the world and escaped the power of the deceiver.

The whole forces of the confederacy of evil were set upon his track to engage in warfare against him, and if possible to prevail

over him. The fiercest and most inveterate enmity was put between the seed of the woman and the serpent. The serpent him-

self made Christ the mark of every weapon of hell. Satan knew that he must either conquer or himself be conquered. Suc-

cess or failure involved too much for him to leave the work with any one of his agents of evil. The prince of evil himself

must personally conduct the warfare, since all other enterprises were inferior to this. He came in determined opposition

against Christ from the very beginning of his work.” {RH, October 29, 1895 par. 4}

And this same power that sought to destroy Christ and His ministry of healing with “every weapon of hell” has been unleashed

to destroy the sanitarium from which flows the ministry of healing for this last generation. In 2014, we look almost in vain the

world over to find a true sanitarium. Satan has almost completely extinguished both true medical missionary work and the true

sanitariums from which they are to work. Somebody says, “well, what about our wellness centers and lifestyle centers (all

around the world) , aren’t they the same thing as a sanitarium?” Well, it is not our attention to be critical or to cast a bad reflec-

tion on the many good works that are being done by many types of medical workers all through out our denominational ranks

but we must be extremely honest if we are going to finish the work. There is a big difference between a sanitarium and a so

called “wellness center” or lifestyle center”. I believe that many of our present institutions that call themselves by these names

are doing a good work—and we have not one word of condemnation. But I hasten to add that there is a difference between a

good work and the finishing work. A lifestyle center may accomplish a good work but only the true medical missionary work-

ing through a true sanitarium can set in motion that which will finish the work!

“From our sanitariums trained workers are to go forth into places where the truth has never been proclaimed, -

Page 4: The Sanitarium and Finishing the work

4

4

“ and do missionary work for the Master.--Letter 17, 1905. {MM 323.5}

“"The Lord will give to our sanitariums whose work is already established an opportunity to co-operate with Him in assist-

ing newly established plants. Every new institution is to be regarded as a sister helper in the great work of proclaiming

the third angel's message. God has given our sanitariums an opportunity to set in operation a work that will be as a

stone instinct with life, growing as it is rolled by an invisible hand. Let this mystic stone be set in motion." {7T 59.2}

The Nature & The Name

This is a tremendous statement, one that we can only mention in this short study, but this inspired quotation rightly understood

reveals that our sanitariums have a special place in setting in motion that “mystic stone” that will be used to finish the work.

This is why Satan hates it so much and has sought to change its peculiar and distinctive character. And anytime the nature of

something changes then the way is prepared to change its name. Names are expressive of character. And we shall find that as

we trace through the records of sacred history and prophecy that it was only after the nature of the institution that was termed

“sanitarium “ was changed (stripped of its distinctive purpose and methods) that the name of the institution was also changed.

“ God has plainly revealed to me that our faith as Seventh-day Adventists is to stand before the world clear and distinct

in all our institutions. The truth is losing its peculiar, holy character in the sanitarium in America. It is changing.--Letter

45, 1900, pp. 1-8. (To Dr. J. H. Kellogg, March 12, 1900.)

Even in the time of the prophet, Heaven found it hard to find true medical missionaries. Do you think we are closer to the blue-

print now? "We are now," said the prophet, "farther from the pattern than when our medical work first started." {PH094

32.1}

The following quotations should humble us as we seek to follow in the footsteps of Jesus for fellowship and a finished work:

“As I see so many claiming to be medical missionaries, the representation of what Christ was on this earth flashes before

me. As I think of how far short the workers today fall when compared with the divine Example, my heart is bowed down

with a sorrow that words cannot express. Will men and women ever do a work that bears the features and character of

the great Medical Missionary? . . . {MM 20.4}

Before the work is finished there must come a decided revival and reformation in sanitarium and medical missionary

work.

“ I am instructed to say that God will have the medical missionary work cleansed from the tarnish of earthliness, and ele-

vated to stand in its true position before the world. When schemes that imperil souls are brought into connection with this

work, its influence is destroyed. This is why there have arisen in the carrying forward of medical missionary work many per-

plexities that demand our careful consideration. . . . {MM 24.3}

“ Nothing will help us more at this stage of our work than to understand and to fulfill the mission of the greatest

Medical Missionary that ever trod the earth; nothing will help us more than to realize how sacred is this kind of work and

how perfectly it corresponds with the lifework of the Great Missionary. The object of our mission is the same as the object

of Christ's mission. “{MM 24.4}

“God's purpose in committing to men and women the mission that He committed to Christ is to disentangle His followers from

all worldly policy and to give them a work identical with the work that Christ did.--MS. 130, 1902. {MM 24.5}

But we are still getting a little bit ahead of ourselves. Before we can more fully understand the work of the Sanitarium we

must be made to better understand “what is a Sanitarium”. We will never understand the counterfeit health institution until we

can be made to understand what a true sanitarium is and then we can more fully understand why it is so important to the finish-

ing work. I think the best thing for us to do to really get a better understanding is to look at the sacred history –to re-

view the records of the past, and find out the origin and purpose of our health institutions and then we shall see its glo-

rious destiny in the finishing work. Most people are ignorant of our history-especially as to development of health reform in

Page 5: The Sanitarium and Finishing the work

5

5

connection with the closing work in the sanctuary above. And truly there is a danger in the ignorance of our past history. So,

Let us back up-to go forward.

Question? Where did our system of Sanitariums come from? Most people who are not truly acquainted with our history

would say that both our distinctive methods of medical missionary work and the name “sanitarium” was a product of the inno-

vative Dr. John Harvey Kellogg. For, as the documented story goes as recorded in the march 1971 archives of our well known

seventh-day Adventist ministerial magazine entitled Ministry Magazine we read the following account:

“In the 1880's, when the new medical institution at Battle Creek, Michigan was about to open, John Harvey Kellogg sent out

brochures describing its advantages. The changes proposed by John Harvey Kellogg actually added a new word to the

English language. When Dr. Kellogg prepared literature for the institution in the early 1880's, the name was printed as "Battle

Creek Sanitarium." Soon letters began to arrive pointing out that evidently an error had been made, for while the word sanato-

rium could be found in the dictionary, sanitarium could not. Unabashed, the doctor replied that it would quickly find its

way into the dictionary, and it did. "The new policies demanded a new name," 1 Dr. Kellogg wrote. "The word

'sanatorium' was then defined by Webster's dictionary as a term used in England to designate a health resort for invalid sol-

diers. A change of two letters transformed 'sanatorium' into 'sanitarium.' "

The question that forms the title of the archived article from which the above paragraph is taken

is quite interesting and up to date (though written over 30 years ago) and has a direct bearing on

our study. Would you like to know the title of this article? It is entitled “Is the sanitarium OB-

SOLETE?” Below to the right is a picture of the actual article.

The article concluded by inferring that the name was in fact obsolete but that we have no need to

worry because this name (sanitarium) only came from a man. Notice the following from same

article:

“The word (sanitarium), however, is

being gradually discarded by our de-

nominational culture. The Glendale

Sanitarium and Hospital in California is

now the Glendale Adventist Hospital;

the New England Sanitarium and Hospital (Massachusetts) is now the

New England Memorial Hospital; the Portland (Oregon) Sanitarium

and Hospital is now Portland Adventist Hospital. Others, such as our

own hospital in Brunswick, Maine, have dropped the word out of the

name. We are now the Parkview Memorial Hospital.

“Does this change signify subtle apostasy with the passing of an

era and abdication of certain basic principles, the changing of

emphasis, or just modernization to meet modern needs?

The writer of this article who was not truly aware of the origin of our

medical missionary work (as we shall see) went on to say in his con-

clusion, “First, I think it is well to realize that the name sanitarium

was not inspired. The word originated with Dr. John Harvey Kel-

logg and the material quoted from Mr. Powell above has been verified

through the White Estate at Washington, D.C. The "San" (that is

sanitarium) connoted certain concepts to the Seventh-day Ad-

ventists and patrons of the late 1890's and early 1900's. But then,

medicine of that day was as different from medicine of today as

the horse and buggy transportation of that day differs from jet

transportation of today.”

Page 6: The Sanitarium and Finishing the work

6

6

You will notice that the reason that our medical leaders concluded that the discarding of the name “sanitarium” was alright was

because they felt that the name and its methods had it’s origin in Dr. John Kellogg (a man and not from God). They felt that it

didn't matter what they did with his ideas or the specific methods that he advocated if there were a better more modern or so

called scientific way of doing the ministry of healing. But this brings us right to the heart of our study, where did the sani-

tarium come from?

Question? Is medical missionary work and the sanitarium the product of Kellogg or did it originate from heaven?

“True medical missionary work is of heavenly origin. It was not originated by any person who lives. But in connection

with this work we see so much which dishonors God that I am instructed to say, The medical missionary work is of divine

origin, and has a most glorious mission to fulfill. In all its bearings it is to be in conformity with Christ's work.” {MM 24.2}

So it is clear that medically missionary work did not originate with Dr, Kellogg or any other man on this earth, it originated

from Jesus! In fact as we have already noted this last phase of the ministry of healing originated from the work of Jesus in the

Most Holy place in heaven– the cleansing of the true sanctuary. (please read Dan. 8:14 ; Rev, 14:6, 7; 1 Cor. 10:31; 1 Cor. 6:

19,20 and 2 Cor. 7:1 ).

What about the origin of the sanitarium? In the periodical called “Needs” speaking of the needs in Australia the pen of inspira-

tion answers this question of the origin of the sanitarium. Notice the following inspired quotation:

“Sanitariums, properly conducted, are divinely-appointed agencies that will bring into the truth those who will be producers

as well as consumers. In our medical institutions the helpers are trained to be laborers together with God, to carry out the teach-

ings of the great Medical Missionary... Every sanitarium should be a place in which Christ can abide, the healing, restoring

influence of His life pervading every room, for the restoration of soul and body.” {Needs, July 4, 1903 par. 11}

So it is clear that sanitariums were not appointed or selected by Dr. Kellogg but came from God. If you study the history of the

world both secular and religious you will find that the world have very little understanding of health (even from a human

standpoint) when Jesus went into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to begin the work of the cleansing of the sanc-

tuary on Oct. 22, 1844.

In fact, many of the doctors in the early part of the 19th century were using bleeding. When George Washington came to his

last sickness, for instance, he was bled several times. Ounce after ounce was taken from his body. His physicians thought they

were helping him. I am sure they were as sincere as anyone could be. But that was the accepted method.

Even among our own advent people the use of tobacco, heavy grease, pork and many other unhealthful practices were com-

mon (even among the ministry) causing many health problems and often death.

So you can see that there was a great amount of ignorance. I often wonder how many of the popular theories considered so

ultra-scientific or religious today would look in another 25 or 50 years, if time should go on. The point is: There was a great

ignorance in world and among our people as it relates to health reform.

In the midst of such ignorance what brought to light the need for the ministry of healing? As we have already noted it was built

on a Bible foundation of the cleansing of the sanctuary but it was greatly magnified through the writings of the Spirit of Proph-

ecy. Sister White herself when she was alive was asked of the origin of health reform and our distinctive understanding of

medical missionary work:

“Did you receive your views upon health reform before visiting the Health Institute at Dansville, New York, [THE MOST

PROMINENT OF MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE UNITED STATES FEATURING REFORMS IN DIET AND IN

THE TREATMENT OF THE SICK WAS AT THIS TIME OPERATED BY DR. JAMES C. JACKSON AT DANSVILLE,

NEW YORK, --COMPILERS.] or before you had read works on the subject? {3SM 276.1}

“ Answer.--It was at the house of Bro. A. Hilliard, at Otsego, Mich., June 6, 1863, that the great subject of Health Re-

form was opened before me in vision. “{3SM 276.2} “I did not visit Dansville till August, 1864, fourteen months after I

Page 7: The Sanitarium and Finishing the work

7

7

had the view. I did not read any works upon health until I had written Spiritual Gifts, volumes 3 and 4, Appeal to Moth-

ers, and had sketched out most of my six articles in the six numbers of How to Live. {3SM 276.3}

Note: This understanding of health reform was opened by divine revelation-vision from heaven. But all of it was based on the

foundation vision of the 2300 Day prophecy and the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary (please read Dan. 8:13,14).

We have just noted that it was on June 6, 1863 that great subject of health reform was opened to us, but though a personal and

general program of health was started, there was not the slightest idea that an institute would need to be established for not

only the spread of the ministry of healing among the world but in using this as a door to finish the work.

So how did the light on sanitariums or health institutions, come to us?

On Christmas Day, 1865, during a vision in Rochester, New York, she received additional information on the subject of health.

She was also instructed that Adventists should have their own institution in which to teach and practice these health principles.

“Here, I was shown, was a worthy enterprise for God's people to engage in, one in which they can invest means to His glory

and the advancement of His cause. Much of the means among our people is only proving an injury to those who are holding on

to it. {1T 492.1}

“Our people should have an institution of their own, under their own control, for the benefit of the diseased and suffer-

ing among us who wish to have health and strength that they may glorify God in their bodies and spirits, which are His. Such

an institution, rightly conducted, would be the means of bringing our views before many whom it would be impossible for us

to reach by the common course of advocating the truth. As unbelievers shall resort to an institution devoted to the successful

treatment of disease and conducted by Sabbathkeeping physicians, they will be brought directly under the influence of the

truth. By becoming acquainted with our people and our real faith, their prejudice will be overcome and they will be fa-

vorably impressed. By thus being placed under the influence of truth, some will not only obtain relief from bodily infir-

mities, but will find a healing balm for their sin-sick souls. {1T 492.2}

And that this institution was to be home-like:

“In the vision given me December 25, 1865, I saw that the health reform was a great enterprise, closely connected with

the present truth, and that Seventh-day Adventists should have a home for the sick where they could be treated for their

diseases and also learn how to take care of themselves so as to prevent sickness. I saw that our people should not remain

indifferent upon this subject and leave the rich among us to go to the popular water cure institutions of the country for the re-

covery of health, where they would find opposition to, rather than sympathy with, their views of religious faith. Those who are

reduced by disease suffer not only for want of physical but also of mental and moral strength; and afflicted, conscientious Sab-

bathkeepers cannot receive as much benefit where they feel that they must be constantly guarded lest they compromise their

faith and dishonor their profession, as at an institution whose physicians and conductors are in sympathy with the truths con-

nected with the third angel's message. {1T 553.1}

“It is that thirsting souls may be led to the living water that we plead for sanitariums, not expensive, mammoth sanitariums,

but homelike institutions, in pleasant places… Never, never build mammoth institutions. Let these institutions be

small, and let there be more of them, that the work of winning souls to Christ may be accomplished. . {MM 323.3,4}

So while the world was celebrating Santa on Christmas day, God’s people were rejoicing on the light of the sanitarium just

newly come to us. In fact when you study the history of the origin of the word sanitarium (the etymology ) you will find that it

comes from “the Latin noun sanitas, meaning health, ...and emphasize the need for scientific healing or treatment”.

The word “sanitarium” came from reflected light

And while God used Kellogg to coin or select the specific name, it was nonetheless from Jesus. Notice this fact from pen of

inspiration: “The world has had its great teachers, men of giant intellect and extensive research, men whose utterances

have stimulated thought and opened to view vast fields of knowledge; and these men have been honored as guides and

benefactors of their race; but there is One who stands higher than they. We can trace the line of the world's teachers as

far back as human records extend; but the Light was before them. As the moon and the stars of our solar system shine

by the reflected light of the sun, so, as far as their teaching is true, do the world's great thinkers reflect the rays of the Sun of

Righteousness. Every gleam of thought, every flash of the intellect, is from the Light of the world. {Ed 13.3}

In short, what is a sanitarium ? This is an inspired question, that demands an inspired answer:, ““What is a sanitarium? It

is a place of healing; a place in which reforms are to be wrought out…”{NebRep, February 28, 1905 par. 9}

“Great light has been shining upon us, but how little of this light we reflect to the world? Heavenly angels are waiting for hu-

man beings to co-operate with them in the practical carrying out of the principles of truth. It is through the agency of our

sanitariums and kindred enterprises that much of this work is to be done. These institutions are to be God's memorials,

where His healing power can reach all classes, high and low, rich and poor. Every dollar invested in them for Christ's sake will

bring blessings both to the giver and to suffering humanity. {CH 219.1}

“ Medical missionary work is the right hand of the gospel. It is necessary to the advancement of the cause of God. As

through it men and women are led to see the importance of right habits of living, the saving power of the truth will be

made known. Every city is to be entered by workers trained to do medical missionary work. As the right hand of the

third angel's message, God's methods of treating disease will open doors for the entrance of present truth.” {CH 219.2}

This work will set in motion the mystic stone that will be rolled and lead to the finishing of the work (7T 59). There is so

much more that can be said., but for now we will conclude by encouraging all to visit our sanitarium classes and find out

how to be a part of this closing work!

“We are made sad as we see in many places so much left undone that should be done. But the Lord will use in the accom-

plishment of His work means that we do not now see. He will raise up from among the common people, men and women to

do His work, even as of old He called fishermen to be His disciples. There will soon be an awakening that will surprise

many. Those who do not realize the necessity of what is to be done will be passed by, and the heavenly messengers will

work with those who are called the common people, fitting them to carry the truth to many places. Now is the time for us to

awake and do what we can. {15MR 312.5}

We must understand what needs to be done or we will be passed by. Question: What needs to be done? I have read and quoted

these statements many times during the years (literally hundreds of times) asking God this question “Lord , what needs to be

done”. Not many years ago the Lord impressed me to look at the inspired article carefully (and read it line by line). It became

very interesting when you know the name of the entire article which is entitled “ Counsels related to the work in ...Paradise

Valley Sanitarium”. The necessity of what needed to be done had to do primarily with the sanitarium work connected with the

third angels message in preparing a people to stand true to God when judgment passes from dead to living (at the NSL)!

“Then right before this very quotation we find the sentence, “Treatment rooms should be fitted up soon. Let them be, as was

suggested when we were there, outside the main building. Were they inside the sanitarium, the steam from them would make

an unhealthful atmosphere, which would pervade the rooms of the patients. Let us take every precaution to make everything

connected with the Paradise Valley Sanitarium healthful and wholesome.” {15MR 312.4}

Then God says that though this work has not been done, the Lord will “raise up from among the common people” those who

will take hold of this work . For truly , “We have come to a time when every member of the church should take hold of

medical missionary work."{7T 62.1}

But where will come the training and funding for such a work. Do you know that God has designed a specific plan to accom-

plish all of this (funding sanitariums and outposts; training workers, producing revival and reformation and preparing us for a

time when no man can buy or sale at the passing of NSL and still to function all the while in reaching the world and finishing

the work) all at one time. And all of it is to be set in motion by an inspired plan called “THE RELIEF WORK” Only heaven

could devise such a wonderful plan. Space will not allow the details please ask about how you can be a part of this program. It

will be introduced at Upper Room Camp Meeting 2014!
